The back activates the clamp to hold a phone securely. The job to tighten the swivel in place takes a bit of work but over all its a decent vent mount. I use it with a Samsung Note s20 ultra and have had no trouble with it so far.

It may be the vents in my car, but I find myself re-attaching the holder on a regular basis. Kind of annoying.
