I have used about 4 other magnetic vent clips before using this one. The constant problem I had with past clips was having to readjust its position in the vent so that it would stay on right, if at all. As others have noted, this clip uses a spring so that it feels far more secure to the vent. I haven't had any of the issues my old clips had. My only criticism is that the actual surface of the magnet could be bigger. Yes, the magnet works fine but if you accidentally tap a corner if your phone harder than you want then the magnet isn't strong enough to prevent the phone from dropping on the floor. My last clip had twice the magnetic surface area and therefore was much harder to knock down accidentally. Regardless, I've been happy (as I have with other products from this company) and would recommend it.

At first glance of this product, I thought it could never work for me, for me heavy cellphone or for my car vents. My car vents are not the usual horizontal lines but more like a tripod style. To my surprise, the magnetic part held on very well and my phone already had a case so I slipped the metal piece behind the clear plastic case and that was it. I was done. I showed it to my friends who also liked the idea since I would no longer have to fight with a holder where I'd have too many moving parts. This was not my first iOttie product so I knew I would be pleased with my purchase.

I have a long daily commute, and use my phone GPS apps extensively. For that, I needed a very reliable phone holder. I have been using the The iTap Magnetic Car for 2 weeks, and it fits my needs perfectly. The magnet is extremely powerful, and I never had the phone drop even once since I started using it. Highly recommend it for safe driving.

I've used iottie's window mount in the past and liked them, so I decided to try out this magnet mount. The design is pretty simple, use a strong magnet to hold the phone. It is less bulky then their itap mounts. It comes with 2 types of metal plates. 1 option is to stick the plate to the outside of the phone case. 2nd option is the put a larger metal plate in the inside of the case. Pretty much everyone uses a case for their phones and some are bulky which will make option 1 more reasonable to those people. I have a plastic flexible case, so i chose option 2, where I put the metal plate inside the case, where you stick the metal plate on the phone. Option 2 does come with a small plastic protector where you put the plastic tape on the phone and then the metal plate on top of it to prevent the metal plate from scratching the phone. The Mount where you put on your car's vent is pretty sturdy. The clip is lined with cushion to prevent the clip from damaging the vent. Easy and simple to use, no hassle of sliding into a phone mount on the windshield like traditional mounts. Mounting your phone on the magnet is pretty simple, just line up the metal plate and you'll feel the mount "grab" the phone. Taking it off is easy too, just pull it off, but be warned the magnet is pretty strong. I have experienced where I pulled the vent clip off when I was trying to dismount the phone. In my 2 weeks of using it, I never experienced my phone dropping. I do avoid potholes while driving because they can damage you car, but Im not going to deliberately drive through one to test out how strong it is. A few cons: -Depending on your car's vent, it can limit how much you can rotate it. Basically, the clip can only rotate so far until the vent prevents it. Mine is slightly pointing my phone upwards which can make it hard to read. -If you have a BIG phone (like a iphone PLUS) it WILL block A/C from blowing at you you during hot days.

This is my 3rd iOttie phone holder, and I must say this is by far my favorite one. Had it for over a week now and I was surprised how it held up during my trip from Canada to the US. It looks small but it is heavy and strong enough to hold my iPhone 7 Plus in a case my entire trip. The piece that holds it in the vent is quite strong, before getting it, I thought it would be like others that move if you hit a bump, but this one did not disappoint. I would highly recommend this.

Iottie as always has a great product. I had a dashmount from them and recently got this vent mountable. The magnet is quite powerful so it's easy to mount the cell phone. The last one had the push mount. Its also easy to unmount and doesn't quite feel like it will break/bend the vent, which was my initial concern in getting this. Overall, +1 for the product and magnetic mount

This is a great cell phone holder for the car. I have the I phone 7 And it works great. The magnet is really strong. I think if you had the iPhone plus it may be too heavy. Great product.

I tried to install this on a lexus which has veritical mounts rather than horizontal and could never get it to sit right. I have a similar mount from another manufacturer (zgigen?) which has a cross connect to the vent and holds better in a different car (tested side by side) but no matter what, the style of vents plays a role with what mount works best. The mount looks great but functionality just doesnt work for this style of car. Tested on all vents in the car. I'm exchanging for same brand but the cd mount. Will provide a review aferwards.

The ease of use, size and convenience of this mount is fantastic. Extremely easy to install and will also come in handy when traveling. Highly recommend it!

Holds me iphone 6 for work just fine - might have some issues on the bumps, but not yet. Clamps tight to the vent.

This mounting option is nowhere as good as the pictures on the box suggested. Mounting vent option is just all over the place and barely keeps the device steady and secure. against any serious vibration. When the user attempts to release the phone from the mount you pull the whole thing out the vent every time

I was hoping to remove my iOttie Easy One Touch Universal Car Mount Holder from the windshield of my 2014 Outback and replace it with the iOttie - iTap Magnetic Car Vent Mount Holder however, because my vents are vertical and the way they are situated in the dash, my steering wheel blocks access to the phone. My husband tried it in his 2016 GTI which has horizontal vents and enabled the phone to be in a good position for the driver. However after using it for a week he noticed that the holder itself started to wiggle and became loose. He said the magnet was great but the grip used to attach it to the vent was weak. I will take some photos and hopefully I'll be able to add them later.

I had to get 2 of these for my daughter and wife because of the Georgia law. I initially tried it with my iphone 6+ and it did not hold. I then tried it with my wife's 6 and it did hold but slides a lot. I tried it with my daughters 7 and again it slid because of the weakness of the magnets. I am now replacing them all.

Magnet is too weak to hold up an iPhone X with a relatively light Speck brand case, even on smooth road. To be fair, it is a heavy phone, but BestBuy shouldn't be calling this thing "compatible" with iPhone X in its website filter. I will be trying to return it for a refund.
