    conflicting info from agents

I scheduled an appt online to get my iPhone X battery replaced at a store near my house. He went through the motions of making sure the battery was in stock and did a diagnostic on my phone. He was getting me all set up about to change my battery until he realized the speaker had to be replaced also but they had none in stock. I was okay with that and scheduled another appt at a different location. I went to that store and that agent told me my phone is fine and they weren’t going to replace my battery. I was really disappointed in the service of the inconsistency between the two stores. If I’m going to pay for a new battery out of pocket I would like to have had it replaced.

    Negative -1 STAR Review

There should be a provision for NEGATIVE STARS selection. I've generously provided a 1 star for having allowed a review option. It is extremely difficult to contact a person telephonically at Geek Squad inside an actual stores. Noone picks up the phone. I went to the store closest to me, asked the Geek representative about my battery replacement. He stated that they would need to order the battery part, but I would be required to leave my I-phone with them upto 1 week as they do not stock batteries onsite. I don't mind the ordering part taking one week to arrive, but it is extremely unreasonable to require a guest leave behind phone for 1 week in their store until the battery arrives. Secondly, he said it is a matter of policy between Best Buy and Apple that they cannot order parts until I complete the order and leave it with them. Seems very inconvenient and illogical for a simple battery replacement. Best Buy website does not offer a true and reasonable solution as to where i can take my device for battery replacement. I called the toll-free Geek Squad support, and they were of no useful help other than recommending making an appointment at a store to diagnose the problem. I have Total Tech subscribed but I'm starting to question what is the value of this program if I can't get reasonable service?

    Poor inventory management & communication

I had Best Buy replace the battery on my last iPhone so decided to do the same with my current one. Booked my appointment 2 days prior via Apple's website. The nearest Best Buy that offers this service is a 35-40 min drive from my house. Arrived at my appointment a few minutes early and upon check in was informed they didn't have the battery in stock. Apparently Apple is "not able to see" what the store has in stock. Ok, I can see the challenge that brings, but I'm not privy to those issues and I would expect the store would review their appointments for the day and know they need XX of XX batteries for that very specific service and, if they don't have it, contact the customer and apologize and reschedule. No, instead I got to waste over an hour of my time driving to and from here. I'll stick with the Genius Bar moving forward.

Technician stripped screws. Cant access battery

Went in to have my iphone battery changed. The technician stripped the screw to access the battery so im stuck with a phone that im unable to change the battery and forced to either live with a bad battery or replace the whole phone. IF YOU NEED TO DO THIS SERVICE PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO AN APPLE STORE. They will accept responsibility for doing something like this.

iPhone Battery Replacement that didn't happen

Booked an appointment for an iPhone battery replacement. Got there on time. Go to check in and told that Best Buy doesn't service my model, the iPhone SE (1st gen). I just checked the website and it says they do replace the battery on my particular model. So did I get an uniformed Geek Squad person I talked to, did they not want to do the repair or is the Best Buy website not up to date with their own repair procedures? Thanks for nothing Best Buy! An hour round trip, gas and tolls down the drain. Glad I was on time for my appointment because I didn't want to be inconsiderate of your time, unfortunately you were inconsiderate of mine.

Had an appt but could not do the work

I booked an appt for a Sunday afternoon at 5:20 for a battery replacement. I used the Apple Support app. I got to the store at 5:10 and they told me it was too late to wait on it! I had to either drop it off or rebook the appt. Leaving it was not an option. The phone is needed. So I had to rebook. Why can’t this booking process be more transparent regarding dropping it off and waiting for it so the customer can know what to expect? I even tried to call the previous day to verify I would be able to wait and was told they couldn’t tell me because they didn’t know and had no way to check. Nor could they tell me if they had the battery in stock. Anyway - long story made short - I wasted my gas and time to drive to the store only to have to turn back around and go home. Can’t the system for booking be any smarter so people don’t waste time? Maybe ask in the app if you are going to wait for it like the car and tire dealers do - and then don’t let us book it after a certain time if waiting becomes a non-option!

Not impressed by Geek Squad Battery Service

I made appointment to get battery replaced on my IPhone 11. I thought it would be quick and easy. But no… It took almost an hour just to get checked in. I thought I had an appointment for the battery replacement job but really the appointment was just to check it in and drop off. They could not turn off “Find my Phone”. Apparently you can only turn this off at home. If you are not at home then IPhone goes into a 60 minute delay mode. The instructions did not tell me to turn off “Find my phone” before I came in. When I came back later after the delay, it still took 1 hour 15 minutes for the battery replacement. Also, when I first came to check in they said “Let me see if we have the part”. I think they should have the part ready if they make an appointment for a iPhone 11 battery replacement. Also they had me pay for service before it was done. Usually I pay for service after it is completed. Bottom line I had to spend half a day on this. I think they wasted my time.

    iPhone battery service

I booked the appointment online through apple and when I came the lady asked that I had the iPhone 13 for battery replacement service. Try to pretend to Take a look at my phone a little bit and tell that they don’t have the battery in stock. They should’ve call me and let me know before I come. Ridiculous, what’s the point making the appointment? Waisted my time

    Fake squad, no commitment

Terrible service. I had my appointment at 11:40 am at Goleta Bestbuy. The lady told me that their iPhone guy is absent today. So I have to come 2 days later. What is this?? What's the point of the appointment then? Who will pay for my gas? Stupid and unreliable service ever. And after some chat, she just agreed to run a diagnostic on the phone and said that they will not even replace my battery even if I pay for it and want it (because apple says it is in good health at 83%!!!!). I chatted with Apple and they said there is no such policy, you can replace your battery whenever you want and pay!! Best buy is just willing to harras the customers and nothing else!! Getting the battery replaced directly with Apple. These people are not Apple, they are a Fake squad.

They broke my phone - long wait for replacement

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Waited 40 minutes beyond appointment time to be "checked in". When we returned to pick up we were informed the Geek Squad broke my phone and after 50 minutes, were informed they were unable to figure out the system necessary to issue a "loner" Spoke with manager the following day who assured me that phones ship via next day or 2-day air and the replacement device would be ready to pick up in 2 or 3 days at the most. It has now been nearly a week since my phone was damaged by the Geek Squad and the replacement has yet to arrive. Apple authorized provider or not, I would firmly recommend against using Best Buy for Apple repairs.

Stockout, website doesn't tell you when booking

Waste of time. Scheduled appointment, showed up, and they told me the battery was not in stock. So I scheduled another appointment the same day at another Best Buy. Same thing, not in stock. The website should be updated where you can select your phone model and preferred Best Buy store, and then the system would warn you if it's out of stock or not.

    iPhone 8 battery replacement fail.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I brought my iPhone 8 in for a battery replacement, I took it out of the case, dropped it and a small crack appeared on the back screen. When the agent came to look at the phone during intake he said they couldn’t replace the battery because of the crack, which had just happened. Allegedly there is a screen replacement service offered too but they wouldn’t do that and told me I needed to buy a new phone. I am traveling next week, made an appointment with an Apple store who will replace my back screen and my battery. Two things Geek squad claimed couldn’t happen. Thanks for wasting my time and trying to upsell me on a phone instead of helping me.

    Scheduled iPhone 8 battery replacement

So I schedule a battery replacement on my iPhone that I purchased from Best Buy Over two years ago. My battery was losing life quickly so I have looked at the battery health in settings. There was a message that said your battery is significantly degraded please visit an Apple Certified service provider for replacement. Btw no Apple care, I expected to pay. I arrive at the store and the tech takes the phone and comes back and says that the battery isn’t degraded enough and that Apple won’t let him replace it even if I was willing to pay $2000. This is crazy. Definitely cancelling total tech.

Brought in my iphone 8 to have the battery replaced, during the repair they damaged the ambient light sensor. So, since they were at fault they had to give me a new one.

    Replacing iPhone battery

Absolutely a waste of my time! FINALLY got an appointment I could make it too and drove to the store. Meet the tech he checks the phone and goes through the whole process to turn around and say sorry I can’t do this today because we are short staffed. A simple phone call before me going would have been nice. Heard horrible stories about the service but never had the experience till now. Never again for me!

i stopped by the store to have the battery on my iphone 8 changed--they told me i needed an appointment. they confirmed my battery was in bad condition. i made an appointment for three days later, showed up early, waited for 25 minutes while they fiddled on the computer trying to run a diagnostic (or something) on my phone, and then they told me they couldn't process me cause they didn't have the part. and couldn't tell when they would have the part. or if they could get the part. nor would they contact me when the part came in. and not even a 'sorry' as i left the store with my iphone not repaired. i was going to buy an ipad, but not at this establishment.
