They broke my phone - long wait for replacement

    Posted .

Waited 40 minutes beyond appointment time to be "checked in". When we returned to pick up we were informed the Geek Squad broke my phone and after 50 minutes, were informed they were unable to figure out the system necessary to issue a "loner" Spoke with manager the following day who assured me that phones ship via next day or 2-day air and the replacement device would be ready to pick up in 2 or 3 days at the most. It has now been nearly a week since my phone was damaged by the Geek Squad and the replacement has yet to arrive. Apple authorized provider or not, I would firmly recommend against using Best Buy for Apple repairs.

Stockout, website doesn't tell you when booking

Waste of time. Scheduled appointment, showed up, and they told me the battery was not in stock. So I scheduled another appointment the same day at another Best Buy. Same thing, not in stock. The website should be updated where you can select your phone model and preferred Best Buy store, and then the system would warn you if it's out of stock or not.

    iPhone 8 battery replacement fail.

I brought my iPhone 8 in for a battery replacement, I took it out of the case, dropped it and a small crack appeared on the back screen. When the agent came to look at the phone during intake he said they couldn’t replace the battery because of the crack, which had just happened. Allegedly there is a screen replacement service offered too but they wouldn’t do that and told me I needed to buy a new phone. I am traveling next week, made an appointment with an Apple store who will replace my back screen and my battery. Two things Geek squad claimed couldn’t happen. Thanks for wasting my time and trying to upsell me on a phone instead of helping me.

    Scheduled iPhone 8 battery replacement

So I schedule a battery replacement on my iPhone that I purchased from Best Buy Over two years ago. My battery was losing life quickly so I have looked at the battery health in settings. There was a message that said your battery is significantly degraded please visit an Apple Certified service provider for replacement. Btw no Apple care, I expected to pay. I arrive at the store and the tech takes the phone and comes back and says that the battery isn’t degraded enough and that Apple won’t let him replace it even if I was willing to pay $2000. This is crazy. Definitely cancelling total tech.

Brought in my iphone 8 to have the battery replaced, during the repair they damaged the ambient light sensor. So, since they were at fault they had to give me a new one.

    Replacing iPhone battery

Absolutely a waste of my time! FINALLY got an appointment I could make it too and drove to the store. Meet the tech he checks the phone and goes through the whole process to turn around and say sorry I can’t do this today because we are short staffed. A simple phone call before me going would have been nice. Heard horrible stories about the service but never had the experience till now. Never again for me!

i stopped by the store to have the battery on my iphone 8 changed--they told me i needed an appointment. they confirmed my battery was in bad condition. i made an appointment for three days later, showed up early, waited for 25 minutes while they fiddled on the computer trying to run a diagnostic (or something) on my phone, and then they told me they couldn't process me cause they didn't have the part. and couldn't tell when they would have the part. or if they could get the part. nor would they contact me when the part came in. and not even a 'sorry' as i left the store with my iphone not repaired. i was going to buy an ipad, but not at this establishment.

    Waste of Time

I made an appointment with Apple to have the battery replaced on my iPhone 8. I waited until the day of my appointment, went in to drop my phone off, and the service desk told me they didn't have any batteries in stock, nor did they know when the batteries would be in stock. They told me Apple randomly sends them batteries, and they never know what they are getting until they arrive. This process is broken. Complete waste of time.

Appointment does not guarantee service or stock

Made an appointment online for authorized Apple battery replacement. Waited two weeks for the appointment, travelled over 20 miles to get to the store, only to be told that they did not have a battery in stock. Why take these appointments if you are unable to provide the service? Asked the Geek Squad member if he could tell me whether any other stores in the area had a battery and could do the replacement. Was told no, given a model number, and suggested to call around stores myself to find out. Very poor, I do not recommend.

    Awful service

I brought in an iPhone 11 and they said they could change out my old battery. They waited over 5 hours to say they couldn’t do it. Now if it cant be done that’s one thing, but they took over 5 hours to tell me. For a 20 minute job. Now it’s too late in the day for me to buy and set up a new iPhone. Incompetence. Don’t waste your time with the Geek Squad.

Confused…do you guys change batteries or not ?

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Told me that they “don’t replace batteries,” due to some laws and rules. I was upset and confused as to why Apple Support would refer me here for a battery swap if they don’t do it, but I just accepted it and left the store. Then I come to the reviews up here and see that everyone else was able to get their batteries changed and replaced…am I missing something??

    Didn’t Have A Battery Replacement I Needed

I scheduled an appointment to have my battery replaced. I waited over 10 minutes for someone to come out the back just for them to tell me they didn’t have the battery for my phone. They then said I would have to wait 4 days for them to get the battery and they’d have to keep my phone until then. I made the appointment over a week ago. I don’t understand why the necessary parts were not ordered before.

    Really Horrible So Disappointed

Poor customer service & communication. Seemed 2 dislike job & customer. Ran a diagnostic on my phone that showed Bluetooth works. Showed them the problem of watch and Airpods not pairing. Told me Apple watch was too old to pair & the Airpods are paired to someone else's phone. When I showed the Airpods and watch would pair 2 a different Iphone got a "shrug." Showed them there was a problem. Said nothing they can do. Told me they can't commit fraud by asking Apple to repair something not broken. Was not asking them to do that btw.

    iPhone 6s Attempted Battery Replacement

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Why offer the iPhone 6s battery placement through Apple on your website if you don’t offer it? I’m not an expert on the website logistics, but to drive all the way to Best Buy for someone to tell me they do not have the materials to replace a 6s battery is not acceptable. Incompetent!

    Lousy service

Made an appointment to get the battery in my iPhone X replaced because Best Buy is an authorized Apple service center. Went in and was told not once but 4 times “there is a local guy who can do it a lot cheaper”. Left without a new battery because they were having trouble connecting with Apple. If you don’t want to replace batteries on phones out of warranty don’t accept appointments. Guess I’ll go to the Apple store.

Have been to 3 different appointments to have iPhone battery replaced and have drive over 100 miles each time. Each time I was told something different from your so called geek squad. It doesn’t seem like any one of your so called geeks even have the first idea as to what is going on in your store or much less how to perform their jobs. You guys are lame

Don't waste your time. I did. I was told my 4 year old phone was too old to replace the battery. After it was there for 3 hours. I thought the point of battery replacement was for an old phone?
