A great movie for anyone who has ever had a special bond with a dog. A good exploration of the importance of companionship and love in the midst of death and possible annihilation. Heartbreaking in spots, heartwarming in others - but always insightful and witty. The stop-motion animation is great and Wes Anderson's eye for design and shot composition is top notch as always. Probably not the best choice for young kids, though. Highly recommended.

Now for months I have been waiting for this Blu-ray to come out. I saw the film in the theaters and I have to say I was a bit underwhelmed by it on my first viewing. So when I saw the uniqueness of the slipcover (having the Blu-ray+Digital copy banner on the side) I knew this would have to go into the collection. So I picked it up and popped it into the Blu-ray player and man I have to say it looked great on my TV. After my second viewing I appreciated the film more and I would recommend it to anyone who likes dogs, dry comedy, and stop motion animation. I give it an 8/10

The movie uses animals (dogs) to comment on actual conditions and circumstances that confront humans every day.It is poignant, yet comical at certain points. I love that it is entertaining, but keeps you thinking throughout the experience. This movie will make you question and think about parallels to the human condition. It is a total "breath of fresh air" in terms of plot and presentation compared with the myriad movies that are being made now. Great job and EXCELLENT movie!!!

The mixed Japanese and English dialogue is a little bit weird, but the stop motion animation is amazing. Story and voice acting by a stellar cast like Edward Norton and George Clooney were good as well. Any wes Anderson fan should enjoy the quirkiness. But the steelbook design leaves much to be desired. I like minimalist design but this is quite lazy to be honest. So if the design is not to your liking, could pick up the regular dog filled cover version.

I have seen reviews that extolled this type of film, but discovered that you have to be a fan. This was my first exposure to this genre. I watched the entire film and, while interesting, was not the type I would view again.

If you're a Wes Anderson fan, you'll know what to expect: A whimsical tale of a boy trying to save his dog from his uncle Mayor, who wants to destroy all dogs because of a dog flu that has ravaged the country. But the dogs (who have been exiled to a trash island) won't go down without a fight. A 4K disc was rumored but did not come to light. The Blu-ray image seems as sharp and clear as a 4K disc. The lossless audio is fine. The extras are slim and the funniest one is a cast interview from their dog character's POV.

It is unfortunate this film was not better received, but then again it is a typical and wisely crafted Wes Anderson film. While full of political intrigue and commentary, what sets is apart are 1) absolutely unique dialog for dogs and 2) truly wonderful facial and eye movements of the dogs. The stop animation really brings out the best in both. If you enjoy Wes Anderson films, this is a must buy!

Some of my favorite films from the last 20 years are Wes Anderson films, but this one just left me feeling bored and unengaged. I enjoyed the visuals, but otherwise this was a letdown.

This director has made some film live action films and continues to develop a truly unique style and a singular vision in an otherwise glowingly homogenous medium. However, his animated films really are now some of the most interesting works ever produced. This is the latest in his remarkable filmography and a must have for the collection of any decerning film enthusiast.

Stopmotion is a lost art that is rarely being made these days, so it's great to see Wes Anderson keeping it alive with Isle of Dogs and Fantastic Mr. Fox. This film is hilarious, heartbreaking, and full of great stopmotion work. Highly recommend checking it out if you're interested in it!

It is an ideosynchratic and aesthetically centered film intended to endear its voice actors and creator to the legions of dog loving women who enjoy and find humor in subtly racist/stereotypical and cutesy portrayals of japanese people and their culture. The plot is somewhat trite, the character development is predictable. That said, it is entertaining and well made from a technical perspective.

Isle of Dogs is another great turn from Wes Anderson and his A-list troupe of actors. The animation is lovely (if you enjoyed The Fantastic Mr. Fox, there's no doubt you'll love this), the voice cast is stellar (extra props for Bryan Cranston here), and the quirky plot has equal parts suspense and heart. Not to be missed!

This is an amazing film. The animation and story are top notch. The BR quality is what's expected. If you have a 4k TV, you will be set on a default 16:9 letterbox aspect ratio, but won't be able to notice the difference. One of my favorite Wes Anderson movies. Very similar comedy and all that you expect form a W.A movie.

If you like Wes Anderson, you already know you'll love this movie. However if you're not familiar with his movies, let me try to describe: It's stop motion (I believe) with subtle humor (and any pg-13 jokes are very likely to go over child's head), innocent, and wholesome. It's beautiful both visually and story-wise.

Isle of Dogs is your quintessential Wes Anderson film - distinct visual composition style / flair, quirky and memorable characters, a charming and clever story, and some awesome stop motion animation (a lost art, truly). This film will stay with you for a long time after viewing and is great for kids and adults alike!

Wes Anderson's mastery of minutiae isn't for everyone, but if you are a fan of his sensibilities, there is something notable in every frame and it's worth watching multiple times. Few films really justify purchase because how many times will you REALLY watch it. This one will give you good return on investment.

Man oh man all his movies are just fantastic and rich with detail. This really isn’t for kids mostly towards adults, touching on real life topics that are happening around the world. The animation is great and the voice work is fantastic! Not very emotional but very interesting story. Definitely recommend

What an absolutely gorgeous movie! While I wasn't sure about the movie at first, you can tell a lot of hard work went into the visuals. The story is a little bit sad but will definitely tug at your heartstrings. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone that just wants to see beautiful art
