Customers are saying
Customers often highlight the iTrip Auto Lightning FM Transmitter's convenient charging capabilities and ease of use. However, many express concerns regarding sound quality and the effectiveness of the FM transmitter, citing issues with signal strength, static, and reception. Some users found the device simple to operate and appreciated its charging function. Despite these positive aspects, the audio performance proved to be a significant drawback for a substantial number of customers.

Poor quality for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The short: I expected something decent, but got something that sounded dull. Returned the same day I purchased it. The long: I've got a late 90s volvo with the stock radio and have been looking at replacing it with a new car audio deck at some point. In the interim, I decided to pick up a solution that allowed me to use the iPhone for music and podcasts. So after trying an old school cassette adapter (attempting to go the cheap route) with pretty poor sound quality results, I figured I've give this unit a shot. The good honestly is pretty good with this unit. It's super simple to use and works exactly as expected when picking a station. The accompanying app that you can download really helps make it super simple. But the bad really does out weight the ease of use. Two basic issues I had: - The strength of the signal was extremely poor. I could tell significant differences just by moving the unit closer or farther away from the antenna. - Regardless of how whatever else I did to test it, there was always a bit of static during playback. Now I tried this in my own vehicle (the volvo) and even jumped into my g/f's mid-2000's mustang which has an awesome stock radio. Same results. Bottom line: Pass on this 'til they work on the audio quality issues.

Very happy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live in Orlando and the transmitter works reasonably well. It does have some static but not likely all the fault of this product. My truck is a 95 with stock stereo so it is not the greatest. But this product does work and I can stream my music to the stereo. It also makes incoming phone calls ring through the speakers, but you must pick up phone to answer and talk or buy a bluetooth speaker or headset. I have an iPhone 5S and it is compatible and charges as well. My only complaint is that when plugged in and not tuned to stereo the phone doesn't ring. So you must either be able to see screen to watch for incoming calls or texts or have stereo tuned to this transmitter station. There is a downloadable app to go with this but I read some reviews saying it made the unit stop working. So I did NOT download the app. The unit works just fine without the app.

The older model was better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased the older model that plugged into the earphone jack. I loved it. Unfortunately, I broke it. When I went to replace, the sales clerk said this model was much better because it charged the phone at the same time. Unfortunately, I don't receive the same reception as the older model. Drifts in and out, constantly having to find a different channel. I find it a pain in the butt, especially while driving.

Great concept / horrible product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Thought this would be great. Eliminating the 2nd audio wire. But the Itrip app is glitchy and the unit itself will not hold a station and no matter how many stations I tried they were never clear. I have got a number of FM transmitters and paid 1/2 the price for ones that are twice as clear. Back to the drawing board Griffin. I will be returning it.

DO NOT BUY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally made this purchase as Schosche did not have a FM transmitter for lighting. I needed my phone to charge while driving and do FM at the same time. The reception on the transmitter is extremely poor and filled with static. Every time i use my windshield wipers i get even more static. I cannot have the plug too far away from the transmitter or it will cut out. Also if another car drives past me with the same station and is using FM the transmitter on this product is too weak to keep connected. This is the worst product I have purchased. EVER.

Terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tho only great thing about this product is that it charges your Apple device. After I downloaded the required app from the app store, which is bs that you have to do just to use the device, the sound quality was terrible. No matter what station I put it on and where I put the transmitter in my car, there was an immense amount of static. It will be returned tomorrow. Terrible product for what I payed. I've bought different ones that lasted only a year for 1/4 of the price of this and worked flawlessly.

HORRIBLE PRODUCT, DO NOT BUY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried this in my Mercedes 2005 C and it could not malfunction the transmissions. I called Harmon Kardon, they do not support Griffin's iTrip. However it does charge the phone for an extremely high price.

Warning...don't waste your time.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im mad I didnt read the reviews first but I was there and purchased on impulse. My fault. This does not work...period. I rather listen to silence instead of using this transmitter. Static is annoying...finds channels that ate in use by stations...tried manual with know open stations and it still was static or no signal at all! Returning tomorrow for sure.

It worked ok at first, then it quit working!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am extremely disappointed in this product! It worked at first with some static every now, to it cutting out and quit working, then had to unplug and plug back in worked again temporarily, then after having it for five months it quit working! I have checked the cigarette lighter (what ever you want to call it) and that works fine! But the screen does not even light up anymore! I think $60 is a lot of money for something to work such a short time!
