Purchased the 4K Blu Ray so I’d have my own copy of the movie my family watches every Christmas on television. The 4K version is definitely cleaner than the broadcast TV version. However, it is still in a 4-3 format (not 16-9). I won’t offer much of a plot review here other than to say the story involves a decent man who has made sacrifices his entire life for others. When he is in total desperation, an angel shows him what the world would have been like had he never been born. Incredible performances by pretty much every actor in the movie. Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed are fantastic. Stewart’s performance is one for the ages.

This is the most amazing remaster I have ever seen. I could swear that I heard some lines from actors I don't remember hearing before. Perhaps a little better sound clarity is responsible for that. But the visual experience is stunning. However Legend Films did this, I hope they keep busy giving more wonderful movies like this, the "Legendary" treatment. We haven't watched the Black & White version yet. Just colorized last night on Christmas Eve. Even though the color isn't perfect, it stays in a color range that is seemless throughout the film. No distraction at all.

If you have not seen this movie you are lucky, because you get to see it for the very first time. I saw it on TV ages ago, bought the Laser Disc decades ago, bought the DVD years ago, got the Blu-ray 3 years ago and now the 4K. This movie was released 1946 and the picture on the 4K disc is outstanding. Black blacks, White whites and all the gray tones in between. Crystal clear dialogue.

What a gorgeous steelbook of this timeless Christmas movie starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed! I sincerely have to say it looks absolutely stunning in 4K UHD. It has never looked so good for all of us that were not there in the theatrical run. Not only do we get the 4K disc version, we also get the Blu-ray version with some special features carried over from the previous blu-ray release. We have beautiful artwork on the steelbook as well as a mini reproduction of the poster. All in all, 5 Stars! Highly recommended viewing for everyone.

Had to have in 4K even though I don’t have a 4K Tv yet.

I really like the movie, and was wondering if color would take anything away. It didn't, although they could have done a Wizard of Oz type Color and Black and White, that might have been interesting. The picture was really good,with excellent resolution, but not over restored. It looked like it should, I felt like I was seeing the original. The color was well done also. There were only a few scenes where I noticed the colorizing. I noticed a little color fringing in a scene or two, and noticed a couple crowd scenes where the skin tones were all very similar. Other than that, it was excellent color. A superb job of restoration that I felt made the movie more enjoyable, and more watchable.

Great quality and enjoy both the black and white and color editions. Disappointed that it's not widescreen but maybe it wasn't produced that way originally?

What can you say--- the greatest Christmas story ever. I was really happy with the colorized version- not as fakie as so many other attempts to make color pictures out of Black and White movies. I am also glad the original black and white version was included. I have an old VHS copy of this and it has Tom Bosley at the end telling all the secrets of the production which was way better then the production talk at the end of the Blu-ray.

I was pretty surprised at how good this transfer was. It was like watching this film for the first time, all over again.

A True Hollywood Christmas classic about Hope and how one man's life can make an impact to those around him. The Steelbook is very nice with holiday colors and it includes the 4k format in black and white and colored version of the film while the blu ray includes only the colored version. The mini poster is a nice addition to the steenbok. Highly recommended for those who love christmas movies and collectors of true hollywood classics!
