This is the second model that I purchased from J5Create that is a hub for my MacBookPro. The other model did the same thing so I thought maybe this one would be better. Unfortunately not. After speaking with J5 directly they informed me that this is a known issue and their development team is working on a solution, but they will continue to heat up to extreme levels until this is resolved. They state that since the MacBook Pro does not ventilate properly the unit being powered up by the USB-C ports it does not allow for cooling. I was quite frustrated that they would cast blame on the laptop that is working fine and currently not heating up. I would NOT recommend purchasing this unit.

Perfect for my Mac book

As such it is imperative that you get a port replicator for you to be able to do anything with your MacBook. This was a great compromise at a good price and great quality! We may also recommend that you consider getting a USB hub to go along with it if you have several other devices that you wish to connect to your device. The ability to be able to charge while it is connected to this replicator makes it that much more valuable.

But overall a very helpful tool to have when you need to plug more than one USB or charger into your new Mac laptop at the same time.
