It begins to feel a little awkward when using your laptop from your lap; stationary use on a desk is fine. This device does remain in place, but it's slightly thicker than my MacBook Pro so any uneven surface would cause it to move independent of the laptop.

I don't like using the pad that's on the laptop, so this makes it much better. If you have the shakes in your hands, making you accidentally hit the pad then this is for you.

A great addition to the MacBook pro

This works beautifully to do that. Fits snugly and has all the ports I need.

This plug in allows you to have 2 USB-3 ports, 2 USB-c ports, a HDMI video port, a camera card reader, and others. Excellent value. Don't leave home without one!

It provides all necessary connectivity including AC power feedthrough. I keep my backup disk connected as well. I connect the notebook to it when it's on my desk.

Models such as the JCD383 for example connect via a cable and should work with most covers, it also supplies Ethernet SD card readers and more. Good Dock

The first dock I got had trouble keeping the thunderbolt 3 cables securely connected. I returned it and got a new one and the new one works just fine.

In order to have my file saved in my computer and also in my memory xard. I can also use it to hook up other items that I need to process in m software

It adds capacity as well as connectivity to my DSLR cards, and windows stuff for easy file transfers.

Apple has led the transition to USB-C ports. However many people still have USB-A devices that they like using. The JCD382 is a great solution to add some USB-A ports plus more. It is plug and play so there are no drivers to install.

Frustrating that Apple continues make products that require purchasing other products, but as an aftermarket product it makes it work. Seems a bit pricey.
