A great way to add a second monitor to a computer. Much cheaper than buying a new video card.

It is difficult to install the required drivers from different locations. Once installed the additional monitor works fine. It is just a complicated connector and rather expensive, but it is the only connector that I could find for the application. I suppose I would but it again.

I got this for office presentations. I use a windows tablet and it works like a dream. We have the Apple TV for the I pad users and the only difference is it's not wireless. Unlike google chrome this devise allows you to connect and display or split your screen for my tablet.

I was one of those folks who got suckered in by the first generation HP netbooks. I was ok with having the 10" screen because I could hook it up to one of my monitors or a tv, if I was feeling a little cramped. Alas, the proprietary VGA cable did not come with the unit but the trusty Best Buy sales associate promised me they would be shipping in the very near future. Well, that turned out to be a lie. It was well over a year and HP only produced an extremely limited amount of the unique cables - which you had to order directly from them. Over time, as I checked and argued with Best Buy, I was given all manner of misinformation (No, it is not an HDMI or first generation iPhone cable!) Frustrated, I just gave up on the monitor idea and I will say that the unit served me well until Microsoft pulled the plug on XP. It was a miracle that I got Windows 7 to fit on a 16gb SSD! But, at that point, it just became sort of a toy to tinker around with.
Then one day, I saw an ad for this j5 create usb adapter and it just happened to be on sale at Best Buy. I was specific in my questions to the clerk and he blankly looked at the box as Best Buy employees tend to do. But then he said it should be fine. I clearly stated that I just wanted to use it for checking email, watching YouTube videos and maybe going on Facebook - which has become a battery-eating, video load of epic proportions, but that's another rant... Again, the clerk confirmed that there should be no problem. So I got it home, downloaded the drivers, followed the instruction to the letter and all I got was a nice still life rendition of my netbook desk top. Even the windows were barely animated when simply opening them. I would wait and have to guess were the mouse pointer would land after stuttering across the screen.
I did all the tweaks imaginable to reduce CPU load and even dumped a few essential programs just to give it room. I loaded the drivers on another more powerful and modern computer and it was a little better but it was clear that just moving the mouse or scrolling was going take this device to its max. On the box, in print that an ant with a microscope would have trouble seeing, there is mention that this item is "ideal for office applications" which is not exactly saying it won't work for video. j5 create even has 'how to' and 'product features' clips on their YouTube channel showing the device running video clips - although their web site (unlike the packaging) specifically states, "This device is intended for 'Office Applications' and not for 'Home Entertainment'& 'Video Playback' ." That should have been clearly printed on the box! After all, if I could see stuff that tiny, I would not be trying to hook a netbook up to 32 inch flat screen!
Since I almost never have a good encounter with Best Buy staff, I figured I'd take my chances and try to hit various online tech forums and message boards for help, tweaks or a shoulder to cry on. I was only out $37 and dealing with Best Buy actually was not worth the bother. Naturally, the day after the 15 day return window closed, somebody on Amazon miraculously located half a dozen HP proprietary VGA cables for the Mini1000 series! Gee, it only took 7 years!
j5 create likes to make the point that you don't have to crack open your computer case to install a big ol', expensive, additional video card but I can't imagine that the tiny card that fits inside a netbook would be impossible to replicate in a stylish, external dongle such as the JUA210. When I hooked my netbook to my LG flatscreen via my newly purchased HP VGA cable, the images were crisp steady and fast - even when playing HD movies with VLC, GOM and POT players. I am sure it must be a lifesaver for some folks, but given what I was led to expect by both j5create and Best Buy, compared with what I got (and still have) I could not recommend this product in any way (unless you need something to keep dust out of a spare usb port...)

I was looking for an easy and low-cost way to set up a second monitor in a home office and this VGA display adapter was a pretty simple solution. For those who want to be DIY techs, but don't know much about hardware, this solution is a no-brainer.
