Connection & Release Problems
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It works fine when a device is plugged in except wireless mice which often do not work since I think they are USB 2. Most USB 2 devices do not work with this. Many times my USB 3 devices are not recognized and for most devices I cannot remove it safely without shutting down the computer. Very handy when you need several devices connected if you only have one or two ports available. If I don't have to use it then I choose not to since it's such a pain to remove devices. I also don't understand why it has to be connected to power if it is an extension of the computer's USB. My larger drives (4 & 8TB) already have power supplies.

Posted .Due to the USBs on the JUH340 being 3.0 ports, wireless accessories such as the mouse may not function correctly, this is due to leaky waves which is when radio waves from the mouse dongle interfere with the USB 3.0 waves causing non-functionality - we recommend using wired, or Bluetooth as a work around. Regarding the power source; that is for providing the hub more power for heavy-wattage devices such as hard-drives in this case - although not required, it is recommended.

Works as advertised

Great Hub, but Not Full Duplex

It worked well for getting a few devices that were bulkier away from my main tower, but I did notice that it cut my transfer speeds in half on most of my devices connected to it, even if only one was plugged in. Overall, very useful, but could be better.

Posted .Although the JUH340 connects via USB 3.0 which supports up to 5 Gbps data transfer speeds, it is possible that if the hub was connected to a USB 2.0 port, you may experience slower transfer speeds as this is considered bottle necking. It didn't always recognize a drive when inserted in any port. Then it also would disconnect during use which is very problematic especially when I was in the middle of working. Definitely would not buy or recommend this product. Would give it a zero if possible.
