Had to tape USB cable to the unit so that it would stay connected. If Anyone want to by one get with integrated cable or industrial grade connector on board

Bought the j5 after looking at other USB hubs and it's speed and form factor was just what I was looking for. Paired with a 13" Macbook pro I now have four ports (1 powered if required with use of the ac adapter) to use for USB thumb drives, connecting a digital camera, usb powered fan and external hard drives.

Piece of crap and a rip off!

I was wrong. The ports failed within a month after purchasing it. I had it replaced by the manufacturer. The replacement also burnt out within a month. Best Buy should have stuff like this of better quality. I can buy this kind of crap at Walmart or Dollar General and pay a lot less for this. Best Buy should discontinue the sale of this item as it is not the Best Buy quality I'm accustomed to!

Doesn't work for external hard drive

I bought this because on my imac all the usb ports are in the back of the computer and its kind of a pain to plug stuff into all the time. I bought this USB hub so I could easily plug stuff in and out of, yet unfortunately when I plug my hard drive into it it just makes a clicking noise and it never pops up in my finder. I just end up having to plug it into the back of the computer.

Questionable USB hub
