Not only will you get the extra USB-A ports you will get HDMI, VGA, and Ethernet ports as well. Glad to hear that you got the dock set up easily. It is not quite plug and play as it does require a driver, but some operating systems will automatically download the driver.

The first one burn out after about a year and a half. It works very well to have multiple monitor just wish it would have two hdmi ports. There isn’t much drop off in resolution between the monitor connected to the hdmi and vga. Overall it’s a good buy for the price.

VERY useful minidock - but video must be powered

Without using the optional USB power input it could drive my large screen monitor, but it wasn't very happy about it. :-) I replaced it with an actual Surface Dock on my desk. Still in my EDC kit for all the other helpful ports!

It does what it's supposed to do. It lacks features of other similarly priced docking stations, like audio jack and SD card reader. Getting it on sale helps. I like that it worked without downloading software or a driver.

I needed to add two monitors, wired lan and more usb. This allowed for it. Recognized the devices right away. Be warned it gets very warm.

I had several missteps as I tried to create a 2nd screen setting in my home office connected to my Surface Pro. I bought in my Surface Pro to Best Buy and the salesperson was able to solve with this mini docking station. Finally up and running!

The slim and sexy notebooks are giving up on features - either not enough USB ports or a missing ethernet adapter or a video adapter is not what you needed... This provides those features you are missing in a slim package. Note that it will generate some heat while in use.

Careful if overheats

I did not know the unit can fail if left plugged in since it overheated in my use.

I'm only giving 4 stars because the first one I had the one HMDI port stopped working. The one I have now works great though, and you can never have enough USB ports. Also, the design is very nice looking.

Downloading the files from the support site to a device that doesnt have cd-rom access can be a hassle. Overall not a bad device.,.,it does what it needs to do. I think its best for desktop use..home office setups, etc.
