    This is the 2nd J5 Type C mini docking station I bought from Best Buy and J5. The first one lasted 4 weeks. This one made it 6 weeks. Save your money. They don't last if you use them.

    if you own a mac, don't buy

    It requires special software for a new Mac Pro. I had install problems and I am a programmer and a life long Apple user. Even after installing, the HDMI video let me down a few times. In the end, i took it back to Best Buy and purchased the Apple cables.

    it doesn't work well on my macbook pro. when using one screen, everything worked, but for dual monitor i saw alot of delay on the screen.

    This device did NOT work for the video (HDMI) portion. I downloaded the drivers and still nothing. If you are looking for something similar make sure it is plug and play and has the dual connectors. You can find ones that work and are less expensive.

      I regret to hear about your experience with the JCD543. Due to the hybrid architecture of the docking station, one of the HDMI ports on the JCD543 require DP alt-mode/thunderbolt 3 to function. In the case where the computer in use does not support such feature, the HDMI will not work, but the driver based HDMI will. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused. We do have other models that are fully driver based and do not require that built in feature on your computer.     This product uses its own video drivers for external monitors which conflict with the intel graphics on the laptop. As a result performance is erratic and causes screens to freeze periodically requiring reboot of laptop.

    Tried to use with a current model MacBook HDMI didn’t work. Caused system to reboot during some Time Machine backups Ethernet stopped working after upgrade to Big Sur OS, due to lack of driver from j5create.

      The JCD381 does require drivers to fully function and we currently (as of 12/21/2020) do not have drivers that are compatible with Mac OS Big Sur. Make sure your computer has up to date drivers by visiting your manufactures brand website support page.     Came with no power plug and I have yet to figure out how to get any use out of it even after I bought power supply. I was able to hook all I needed into my laptop directly. This was total waste of money.

    This worked for setting up multiple monitors but it blocked the sound and microphone so could not use it when on calls or in meetings.

      In order to have the audio output through the device that you would prefer, it will require that you change the "Default playback device" for your computer. Select System > Select Sound > From the drop-down menu under “Choose your output device”, select a device. E.g. Speakers (USB Audio), (Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio). Move the volume bar under “Master Volume” Repeat steps 4 & 5 until you hear audio coming through your preferred playback device. At this point, the audio should play through the device that was selected. j5create
