    for $100 this thing has already broken in less than a year the video quality is blocky and the plug doesnt fit right anymore

      Natahn, it sounds like you may be experiencing lag if it is blocky. In this case, we would recommend using a plug and play model which will work better since it is working off the computer's hardware rather than a software based device.     My docking station has two HDMI ports. Only one will work at a time and not consistently.

      Hello,
      The HDMI ports on the docking station each have different requirements to function. The HDMI port next to the VGA port requires that the software driver be installed. The HDMI port next to the Display Port requires that the host cable from the docking station be plugged into a USB-C port that supports display port alternate mode.     Returned it. Using this on my macbook pro. Screen flickered and was a bit laggy.

      Error messages when attempting to use HDMI ports on the JCD381 could be due to software not being installed properly, or even incompatible hardware.       Not having enough USB ports for all your gadgets can make work harder than it already is - no doubt there.     Fine dock, short cable

    This docking station worked great with my MS Surface Pro 7 for about 6 months. Did everything I needed it to do, though I'll be looking for one with more USB ports next time I buy one. Which unfortunately will be sooner than I had hoped. The cord on this device is not long enough for it to rest on the desk with a Surface device, so it was hanging down that entire time. At this point, something in the cord must be damaged, because it routinely disconnects & reconnects. This product will be great for you if you: 1. Have a computer with a port that is on the desk, and 2. Only need a couple USB ports. If you're looking for something like a MS Surface, find a different dock.

    9 months use is what we got out of this product. While it worked, it was great! Don't know that it is worth the money though.

    Allows 3 displays from my Laptop. Great unit!

    My laptop only has a USB 3.1 Type C gen 1 outlet , not full Thunderbolt port. Contacted J5 and they recommended this docking unit, since my laptop does not have USB-C gen 2 (Thunderbolt). Loaded the 381 driver from the J5 website and was able to connect two 1080p external monitors in addition to running the laptop built-in monitor, giving 3 screens in extended desktop mode. Works perfectly! (Running an Acer Aspire E15 E5-575-74RC, Intel i7 7500 with Intel HD Graphics 620 card).

    Super easy to use and I didn’t even have to download any drivers since I had other j5 products in the past. My laptop charges quickly when plugging in to the usb c on the product and I can use my laptops hdmi port to expand to 4 screens when combined with this one. Overall really great!

    Great Price! It work for the dual monitor connection, however, I have noticed serious lag in my wireless mouse performance. Set up was a bit confusing because the dual setup didn't function correctly. I did chat with their tech support and while eager to help, I felt the advice of rooting my USB device to correct the issue was a bit over the top and unnecessary. Then the only solution was for me to get a wired keyboard and mouse. Ultimately, I was able to get it properly configured and working. Again, be mindful that serious lag can occur with other wireless devices/dongle.

      Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, K+M lagging is the result of wireless interference from USB 3.0 devices, such as external HDD and other USD 3.0 removable media. We recommend reconnecting USB wireless mouse to a USB 2.0 port since it does well with 2.4GHz signaling rate. We appreciate your review. j5create

    Not ready for 2 external monitors

    Been trying to find a dock for my 2017 MacBook Pro and have had no luck. At the recommendation of a J5 tech, I purchased a JCD381. It looked to be just what I needed. It even gave a warning to make sure up download the needed drivers before plugging in the dock. I followed their instructions and it will run 2 monitors at the same time. The issue is lag or latency. The delay with using this is over 5 seconds at times. I worked with the J5 team for 2 days. They were able to help the issue some, but the latency is still a big issue. Maybe once they get their software issues resolved with the newest versions of Mac's OS, it will be a better dock. If you are looking for a dock to not slow you down while working, this is not the dock for you.

    Decent product

    Probably the best of its kind currently on market. I had to buy it because I wanted to attach 32” external monitor to my 13” notebook. My other mini dock worked well with the 24” monitor. 32” was beyond its capability. I welcomed 2 HDMI inputs, hoping to connect external monitor and 65” TV, too. Easier said than done. Gaming laptops with beefed up display adapters maybe would work. Generic laptop adapters apparently cannot handle two external monitors. Nice thing about this model is that it has cooling vents. These mini docks get really hot even without external power connected. I keep the device propped up on one side to improve cooling. All inputs work fine except HDMI. It is a hit and miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Yes, I downloaded driver from mfr website. It just stops working in random. Disconnecting and reconnecting it several times usually restores the functionality. Fingers crossed.
