Our salesman said that he used one with his own laptop. This worked fine as far as connecting a monitor, a printer, and a keyboard/mouse dongle, but it wouldn't see an external hard disk (WD Passport) or a DVDRW drive. We have had problems in the past with docks on other computers, and chose this one because it was inexpensive, and recommended my our salesman.

Posted .HDD and DVD drive requires more power when using an adapter with USB ports through it. It's recommended to attach high USB peripherals to a USB port on a computer for full functionality. Cordially, j5.
