We recommend that before plugging in the docking station that you visit the j5create website and download and install the driver software. This will ensure that the device works properly when you first plug it in.

But it must have a short or in the its high speed connector to my brand new Dell Inspiron 7506 laptop port. The it would monitor and other devices would go off & on devices at anytime and sometimes often. Whatever I did to make sure it was connected properly (according to instructions) did not make any difference. I went back to using my StarTech 7 port Hub connected to the usb 3 port. that works fine.

Plugged in a power source and all was fine. Only wish there were more USB ports. I would purchase again.

Not Really Worth the Headache

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm pretty tech savvy, and I've had a nightmare of a time trying to get this thing to output video in any usable sense. I'm fine with the fact that it doesn't output 1440@144 for this price, I guess, but the fact that it doesn't output even 1080@60 over DisplayPort is just crazy. The bigger issue is I can't get it to connect to VGA *at all*. It just doesn't work. The display detects that it's connected via VGA, but promptly goes to sleep since there's nothing being passed from the computer. They just won't talk to each other. I have the latest drivers installed and everything. There's also very little documentation online about how to get this actually working. I also tried using this with my Mac to at least get some of my money's worth, and no go. It just doesn't work with most of the ports, even though my Mac has Thunderbolt 3.

Display plugs are extermely laggy and I only use one monitor. My printer takes forever to print through these USBs, but prints instantly on a direct connection or though a different USB-C hub. I got a USB-C to HDMI cable and a five dollar USB-C hub from Menards that work better than this. Bad product even at half the price. I only use it for Keyboard and Mouse because those are the only things that don't constantly have problems and to keep my laptop elevated for cooling.

Charges the ASUS while docked. Allows me to use full size keyboard and mouse while viewing on 27" monitor. Great product.
