I’ve seen these at my job and they work fine there but they did not work with my HP laptop set up at home. Has dual HDMI but only displayed one monitor.

The USB-C Triple Display Docking Station requires that a computer supports an available USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode (for video out via DP or HDMI port) and USB Power Delivery 2.0 or 3.0 (for pass-through charge via USB-C power-in port) features. Please refer to the manufacturer of your hardware for more information on your device. This Dock will also require an installation of a driver for the VGA, Mic and the stand alone HDMI port for proper functionality. Drivers are available on j5create website under the "Support" tab. Thank you. j5create

Unfortunately, missed the return window. Where do I start? The ports work most of the time but sometimes stop working (USB, for example). I have two 2k Dell monitors and wasn't able to have full resolution 2560x1440 (not even 4k!) on both of them (via DisplayPort or HDMI), what's the point then?

The DP or HDMI are PnP ports and only (1) video port can be used. If connected to a USB 2.0 host port, or if using a USB 2.0 host cable, performance may be limited. The stand alone HDMI port will require an installation of a driver for proper functionality. Please contact our Technical Support Team, so that they can get more information from you. So far I'm happy with this product. It works better than the dock I originally got with my Lenovo laptop. The problem I have with it might just be an error on BestBuy's part listing the specifications. They said it did include a power supply. This is not true. If you want your laptop to charge through the dock, you will need a power supply for it. You might get lucky and be able to use your laptop's power supply if it has a USB-C connector.

    So far, so good

So far, the dock is working perfectly. I'm using this with a newish HP ZBook (about 4-5 months old) that is known to work with USB C display devices. And that's the key factor here... not all computers support DisplayPort through USB C. You'll know your computer does when it has the little "DP" logo next to the USB port, or if it's USB 3.1 Gen 1. There are 3 video jacks in this dock, one of which is a USB display controller. USB video is completely different than DisplayPort: technically, the USB dock is acting like a video card, and the display is driven entirely by software. Historically, I have bad luck with video over USB, and so I didn't expect the port to work - or for it to work very slowly and be unsuitable for video. I tried the USB video port (The second HDMI port), and I was surprised that it not only worked great for video, but did not pull a bunch of CPU power to do it. I ran some 1440P test movies on YouTube, and they look great on my monitor. (I have a very good 1440P monitor.) I'm also using the audio port to drive a pair of speakers, and those sound great. I have not tried charging the computer through USB; my computer draws too much power for that... I also plugged the dock into my iPad Pro, to see what would happen. The USB ports worked for both the keyboard and mouse, but I did NOT get audio through the analog headset jack. I could only get sound to come from the speakers in my monitor. I actually have several USB C docks; this is the fourth one I've purchased, and they all work just about the same way. So for those having problems, I'm going to suggest it's more to do with the host computer than the dock itself. I would only recommend this for users who have a fully functional USB C 3.1 Gen 1 on their computer. For computers that don't, I would not recommend a USB C docking station for carrying video. (For USB, Ethernet, and sound, it should work fine.)

this get 5 stars because it was very easy to set up. Although you need to read the directions, you may miss the part where you need to download software when connecting to a laptop. no software is needed when connecting to an iPad pro. Im need this to work on music and to be able to connect my interface to the laptop as well as connecting my canon rebel t6 to be able to stream on twitch. I was planning on doing covers using my iPad since i assumed it would be easier when connecting my Shure sm7b. With that being said i started to search for camera connect kits, then shortly realized that I already had a device that does all that a small adapter would do in my hands already. This isn't marketed to use with an iPad but it does in-fact work with an iPad , Music or Film (the hdmi works when connected to a TV as well!) I needed to let y'all know that since I noticed there weren't any reviews that stated that! I hope this helps!!! I'm even more ecstatic that i invested in this product, you won't be disappointed.

Well, I should have paid attention to how inconsistent this device is. I have no doubts that it works, but only for some people. Purchasing this device is literally rolling the dice on if it functions properly. Trying to connect to a Dell, and i get everything from I/O error messages to "device not found" messages...and the device is plugged in. The firmware updates fail every time. Oh well. There's a $90 lesson i just learned.

Finally! A dock that works with my Lenovo Ideapad

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the 3rd dock I've purchased in the last 2 weeks. I tried an Omars 11-in-1 docking station and a Totu 13-in-1 docking station as I have 2 monitors with HDMI and 2 monitor with a VGA port left after using the HDMI and DataPorts for my work laptop. When I power off my work laptop (a Dell with Thunderbolt) it automatically swithes to the other input using automatic mode. My Lenovo has USB-C 3.2 with DisplayPort 1.2 so it supports DataPort Alt Mode. That means I can run 3 monitors with 1920x1080. They warn you multiple times that you need to load drivers before using but using Windows 11 it worked right out of the box.

Works great with my Lenovo 7i

None techie here! I purchased this to assist with adding additional monitors with my Lenovo 7i laptop. I saw in a previous review someone mentioned it worked great with a Lenovo. And it does! I have an old Canon MX452 I was able to connect to through this device. Tip, make sure after adding the drivers, you open your windows device manager. Did not do this at first, and things did not work properly. After opening up the device manager (setting to add a printer) everything worked great...I did not have to add the J5 device...just opened the setting for a window to configure. Anyway this works great!

REQUIRES - System level driver with security over-

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Be VERY aware, this dock REQUIRES a USB video driver to function. This driver requires installation BEFORE you plug it in, and it requires extended security permissions to install correctly. THIS IS NOT plug and play. Because they use this driver it is very Mac OS system version dependent and introduces a layer of complexity many MAC users may not want to deal with. Just be informed ahead of time. Unfortunately there are few alternatives that will support the breadth of connectors this dock provides and it may be a necessary evil, depending on what you need.

Hi RBurns2020, the JCD543 docking station is PnP and driver base for only the HDMI/VGA next to each other and the Mic. The rest of the ports are Plug and Play. If you have any questions or needing help to install the driver, please contact us by phone, email or live chat. Our contact information can be found on j5create website. Let me just say this, I always do an extensive research and comparison before buying any electronics and this dock is a great bargain! The dock is so slim that you won't even notice it while placing it under the laptop. It offers everything I need, extra USB ports, Ethernet, card slots, and it supports 100W power delivery! My favorite detail is the cable storage where I can hide the cord. I would recommend this USB-C dock all day long at its price. Also, it's very light but durable. According to the packaging, the product is made in Taiwan :)

    Great Dock That Works Flawlessly!

This dock works excellent! Before this, I had purchased several different dongles that weren't doing the job and were clunky. While they were affordable, I decided to spend the money on this and only have one thing to plug in and it worked immediately and flawlessly with my two Dell monitors. Very pleased with this purchase.

    Great USB-C Hub

(Purchased In-Store) I bought this to go along with a new ASUS ROG Ryzen laptop. I switched from an Intel Razer that had Thunderbolt so I needed a new "has it all" USB-C hub. I use this to connect one of my two external monitors (display port, 1440p 120Hz), keyboard, mouse, RJ45 gigabit ethernet. Works perfectly. It is a bit expensive but well worth the money, it is on par with some popular Thunderbolt alternatives.
