j5create Docking Station Thoughts

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I guess the unit is OK, however the instructions that go with it are really brief, and do not tell you much other than how to get it going. No information on which slots are used for what. Plus, and I don't know if this is due to the docking station, but the screen which I bought at the same time does not wake up from its sleep when one moves the mouse around. It did for a short while, but no longer. So I have to open the accompanying laptop, and then the screen wakes up. Not too impressed....

Great Home Office Addition

Super portable, has a bunch of inputs and connections, and has been working great for me so far. Only complaint is that the connector cable is a little stiff but other than that this, this thing is perfect. I have also used it with my IPad Pro with no issues.

Ethernet stopped working but after emailing support they recommend i just reinstall download software and everything is working now. Every now and then external screen flickers but not that often, so otherwise i would give 5 stars.

Posted .Please make sure the graphic card in the computer has the latest update and any available updates through the computers manufactures website. If possible, to test with another video cable. Thank you for the review.

Need to download a driver and buy power supply

Will not work on 6 or lower surface. What irks me is having to buy a separate power supply. Just add one and increase the price. Save us some time!!!

We appreciate your feedback. The dock itself does not require the power supply. The optional power supply is to provide charging for your computer through the dock. We now do provide the docking station and power supply in a single package:

The older Surface models do not have USB C ports for the dock to plug into. However we do make a mini dock designed specifically for some older Surface models:

Makes my life easier switching from my personal computer to my firm's laptop. There are so many slots. Could've gotten a smaller one, but I know my future self will appreciate the forethought of this one!

Nice Addition for Port Expansion

Really like the number of ports and ease of use for adding variety of products. I would like it to have a 'lock' in function like some of my other PCs. Nevertheless glad I added this to my desk configuration.

Bought for three monitors, only works for two

Owned for 5 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So I bought this right at the start if quarantine, I normally work off of three monitors at the office and I was like great this will work for my three home monitors and I can just buy a USB-C to USB-B 3.0 for when I need to use my tower. When I went to use the monitor connections in the back, I was only able to use the VGA and HDMI which are right next to each other, I attempted to connect my third monitor to the other HDMI and my computer(s) (three different laptops) could not detect the monitor. I've tried multiple different converters to see how i could get those ports to work but alas I have not, I have resorted plugging the third monitor directly into my display port on my laptops. I may have to install the driver(s) from the website but unfortunately, due permissions set up on my laptop, I am not able to install outside drivers or software that's not approved by my company. Its a good product but in a world of cable minimization I have fallen short. I would only like 1 cable plugged into my laptop vs 2 but thats just me lol. I have used several of j5create cables and such for a bit so i have no complaints on quality or functionality just wish i could utilize that last port.

Thank you for leaving the detailed feedback on the triple display docking station. The HDMI or DP ports require that the USB-C port that you plug the dock into must have a feature called Display Port Alternate mode to work. You will have to check your computer’s specifications to determine if your ports have this feature. If your ports do have this feature I would recommend contacting our customer service team for further assistance. Their contact information is on the product packaging and on our website under the ‘Support’ drop down. I hope that we can help you figure this out.

Works well!

It works well and has crystal clear HD displays when plugged into my HP Envy Monitors. Sound and Picture both work well. Ethernet is nice to have as well as more USB ports. Gets a little warm when you plug the macbook charger directly into the dock, so I just plug the dock and charger into my mac separately.
