This is not a "Plug & Play" device. There are no instructions in the box. You have to download a driver in order for the Ethernet feature to work on this device, which is indicated by a sticker on the cord (STOP need to download driver before using). However, after doing a Google Search for the driver I was greeted by a HUGE popup on j5create Website that states: Attention macOS® 11 Big Sur users: j5create USB™ Display and USB™ Ethernet adapters are not currently compatible with macOS® Big Sur 11. To avoid loss of functionality with the j5create USB™ Display and USB™ Ethernet adapters, we advise all Mac® users to delay updating to macOS® Big Sur 11. Very disappointing. Big Sur was released, 11/12/2020. For a device that costs $110 I would expect it to work as intended. I returned the device.

      Hello,
We appreciate your feedback and what you are stating is true. As of today 01/05/2021 we do not have drivers for this docking station that are compatible with MacOS Big Sur. We are currently working on them, but due to the significant changes with the operating system there has been a delay. We will post an announcement on the j5create website once we release the drivers. The patience from our customers is greatly appreciated.
      Thank you,

I didn’t expect much from this docking station but it has held up well on a Lenovo Yoga laptop. The usb charges the laptop which I read some reviews that it wouldn’t. The only thing that was frustrating is it didn’t come with a power supply. Other than that it’s working as it should be.

You may use your own equipped power supply via your computer's power brick if it came with a USB-C connection with 65W or higher or JUP2290 will be another option. The JCD543P comes with a power adapter, where as the JCD543 does not. j5create

Using this with a Lenovo laptop and have been pleased with this purchase. Allows a one plug connection to charge and increase the number of ports available. Two external monitors, and other peripheral devices connected with no issues.

This is a God send. It allows me to connect multiple monitors to my laptop. It has plenty of ports that support a lot of devices...can support 3 monitors and a vga port. USB 2.o and 3.1. Don't have an ether etc port on your device... it does... convert any phone and use like a laptop...

I purchased this so my wife can hook up multiple USB devices and monitors to her USB-C laptop. It works extremely well and even supports power pass-through (not all the docks do) so it can charge her laptop without having to use her normal power adapter. This truly is one cable to rule them all!

The first one I bought had a glitch and randomly disconnected the 2nd monitor. After speaking with tech support I exchanged it and now the new one works great. I use my surface pro and connect 2 monitors to the docking station along with wireless mouse and keyboard.

Hello, The J5create model I bought from Best Buy was JCD543 . The quality of the construction looks very good. It has a nice quality feel. The cord could be longer but it was ok. I planned to use it as a dock station for my new Dell g7 17 7790. Its a gaming laptop with an I7 processor 9th gen Intel 16gb of ram an SSD and a sata hard drive. When home I wanted not have to reconnect the peripherals. I wanted to use it as a docking station with my Sandisk thumbdrives , my Easystore Wd drive,my 4k monitor. I liked the idea of being able to leave my headset plugged in on the home setup. I use different pieces of equipment when I travel. The one cord idea was great. Here's what I ran in to.out of the box after I installing the driver j5create-19.02.1018.3179. I could not get any of my Easystore drives to power up. All the usb 3.0 Gen 1 5mbs worked with my Sandisk thumbdrives but none had any power to run a SSD or Easystore drive. The sd microcard reader worked fine. The combined audio and Mic jacks worked just fine. The case makes an ideal stand for the laptop tilting the keyboard and giving more cooling air access. Their website implies to use the power usb you need the external power supply. They say you can use you own or theirs. I sent an email to customer support from the support page explaining my problem and asked to supply me with the ordering information for the power supply. No response was ever acknowledged or responded to. A few days latter I live chatted and told my problem to the person. It was suggested I should have bought the JCD543P. It had a power supply that came with it and they do not sell it separately. They suggested I return this unit and purchase directly from them. The problem for me was my Best Buy return time had passed. Looking on the Best Buy site I found people that bought the j5create JCD543 also bought the Platinum 95watt power supply. As fate would have it I received a request to review the JCD453 the same day. I bought the power supply. Upon connecting the Platinum power 95w to the plugged in JCD543 I received the message “ You have attached a power adapter to a port that does not accept power”. Looking on the web this just meant that this unit would not power my laptop. This was ok. I just wanted it to power my J5Create jcd543 USB 3.o gen 1 power jack and be able to charge my Samsung phone off the USB power jack or run my SSD portable or Easystore hard drives on the J5Create dock. I tried and to no avail. None of my SSD portables or Western digital Easystore drives functioned. My Samsung phone did not see any power either. On a good point the display worked without the power adapter. I assume the other video adapters work too. The Ethernet did too.I did not check Mac address forwarding on it though. It was now obvious to me the live chat person did not know what they were talking about. What they would have sold me probably would not have worked either. My brother tried this and the power supply on his Mac and it worked without problems. I would suggest if you have a Windows PC check it out before you buy it. Find people on the web that have the same PC as you and weigh their responses before buying. It will save you heartaches trying to get it working. If you have a Mac it really can make your life easier. I'm contemplating giving this to my brother.
