Literally just set my laptop on top and plug in. Everything worked right away. Now I can charge my laptop and use my smart card reader at the same time. The quality is great too.

Everything works ok.

The JCD543 is a great docking station with a lot of extra features. The cable can be adjusted to come out of either side of the docking station. The docking station is also designed to have a laptop rest on top of it. Glad to hear that the docking station suits your needs.

Keep in mind, it does require a separate USB-C power supply if you're looking to charge the laptop using this docking station. That part tripped me up.

So far works fine for a docking station

For some reason the left monitor port must be sending a faint signal because whatever monitor I hook up to that HDMI port will not go into sleep mode.

If using a low power-brick wattage, please test with a 75W or higher power-brick. You can also try changing some settings in "Power Option". All the component functioned as they should have. Nice improvement from my last one where the video component still had to be plugged directly into the Mac.

I regret that you have encountered this issue with the docking station. While all electrical devices generate some amounts of heat this docking station may seem hotter than other devices due to the aluminum construction radiating more heat from the internal components. I wanted a device I could plug in dual monitors via HDMI, a printer, a scanner, an external drive, my UPS and ethernet. Not long after installation one of the USB-A ports stopped working. Foolishly I did not complain and plugged into a USB port on the laptop. Then the ethernet stopped, so I plugged into the laptop. Recently another USB-A port stopped working and one of the HDMI ports worked intermittently. J5 Create does not answer their phones, only a busy signal. I started chatting and support had me update drivers. The USB-A ports worked, but then it stopped charging my laptop. I won’t add additional issues with their support, but they agreed to exchange it. I asked for a phone call, but nope, they won’t talk to you. I have copies of the chats and spent several hours. I’ll be kind and say this is a poor quality device and their support is terrible. Based on this experience, no way I’ll ever get another J5 Create product, nor will I ever recommend one. I’m an old dog and should have complained after the first port went out.

Perfect for 2 screen setup and multiple USB device

Always going in a and out with the 3rd monitor which was the whole point i bought it. Tech support said it was drivers. Downloaded them still didn't help. Eventually only 1 monitor would work. Will never buy another J5 product again not even a cable. Horrible product.
