Bad interaction with Windows 11 when system sleeps

When returning to the computer each morning, it was usually to a locked up Explorer app, which I had to restart in Task Manager. It also kept reverting the desktop color to black. It took me weeks to figure out that this device was at fault. Once I stopped using it, everything runs perfectly.

It doesn't charge your laptop/Surface, cannot "dock" your computer on it. Literally just an oversized, over priced adapter.

NEEDS A DRIVER!!!! WARNING

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i bought this for my wife for work, when opening it, only then does it tell you that you need to download a driver to make it work. no where on the box does it say that you would need to do this. so i thought w/e lets try it. yeah , no.. nothing worked and i couldnt download the driver because the laptop she uses for work is owned by her company and doesnt allow for downloads..

Posted .A driver is required for the HDMI and VGA video ports. The HDMI that is linked with the DP port are PnP, which will require that your computer supports a feature called DP Alt mode. This dock is not an MST, so with DP Alt Mode support and a driver, you will be able to obtain a triple display setup.
Company computers often have restrictions or permissions set by the IT department to prevent unauthorized downloads or installations. Contact your IT department or system administrator to request access or have them download and install the driver for you.

Poor Engineering

However, there are some serious design flaws internally. I don't know what inside this thing is not wired correctly but I have swapped monitors, used different laptops and even used different power adapters and this is the only consistent thing that has been in the equation for going on 2 years now. This dock is the cause of 3 laptop circuit board failures, 2 were in a macbook. I sent 1 in for repair and it was fixed and about a month later while using this laptop on this dock the laptop refused to turn on again so I sent it in for repair and sold the laptop thinking that there was something odd just going on with that laptop. However I purchased a dell about 9 months ago and today the same exact issue just occurred with it while plugged up to the docking station. I hope this defers people from purchasing this product, I truly believe it is the cause of these hardware failures as everything else in my setup has been swapped out in the past 2 years and the docking station is the only thing that remains.

Posted .A power brick provides pass-through charge to your computer. However, a computer must support Power Delivery over USB-C, including DisplayPort Alt Mode for video out. The Dock is a PnP and driver device. It also provides additional power to the USB ports. Other than that, the Dock is powered by your computer when it's USB-C host connection is connected to a USB-C port.
