Posted .The HDMI or DP port on the USB-C Triple Display Docking Station requires DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C. The VGA and stand alone HDMI port requires an installation of a driver for proper functionality. Depending on the OS you have, different instructions apply. ||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to go with my almost-new Dell laptop so I could attach a couple of monitors, SSD, etc. Only _after_ the purchase, I found on the box, wording saying I 'Need to use with the original factory AC adapter'. OK, fine, got it right here. The power input on this docking station is USB-C. ONLY USB-C. My barely-two-months-old Dell laptop does not have USB-C for its power input. Hey, J5Create, if you are going to sell a docking station to work with various devices, you might want to make sure your product, out of the box, can be used. If I needed an extra item to go with the product (I do), you should tell me this CLEARLY in the product description (you did not). This docking station is a boat anchor.

The JCD543 does not require an A/C adapter to be plugged into it to function. The JCD543 is powered from your laptop. The message on the box is in regards to the pass through power function of the docking station. If your laptop was powered through a USB-C power supply you can plug that power supply into the JCD543 and it will then charge your laptop. So as long as your laptop has a USB-C port that supports display port alternate mode it will work to its fullest extent. I hope that this clarifies things. Need to buy separate power adapter. Not great

Posted .The USB Type-C power-in port on the USB-C Triple Display Docking Station allows additional power to the USB ports If you are using a high-powered USB device, as well as pass-through charge with Power Delivery supported by a computer. The JCD543P comes with a Power Adapter, not the JCD543.

One HDMI port works perfect, the other keeps shorting out and causing my monitor to do weird things. I tried trouble shooting it with J5 Create and after trying all of the different ports I ended up sending it back to them for "testing" and they said it tested good and sent it back. Once I got it back I tried again this time I also tried the VGA port that does work (but you don't get the same resolution) and the DP port which doesn't work at all. I can't return it to Best Buy because it's been more than 2 weeks and now I'm stuck with a junk $109 docking stating. Do Not Buy. I'm not the only one.

The mini sd slot does not work. Customer support isn’t great either, I have been asking them for a timeline on upgrades to M1, but I get crickets.

At this time, we are placing all M1 Mac users on an "On-Hold" list and as soon as those drivers are available, you will be notified. In order to be placed on the on-hold list, we strongly recommend reaching out to the support team printed on the casing and a specialist will be ready to help along with troubleshooting the SD card reader not working properly.

I got this as a multi display port for my dell laptop. This device would not charge my laptop efficiently while in use. I ended up returning it.

DO NOT USE WITH EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES

I spent hours with support calls with Apple and never made the connection it was this docking station. Why is it called a docking station with 3 USB-C 3.0 ports and no notice anywhere not to use it with external hard drives? I was told on a support chat with j5create yesterday it doesn't work with hard drives. It ruined my 8TB backup drive, my 4TB drive and corrupted new 10TB and 5TB replacement drives some drives are totally unmountable now. I lost hundreds of dollars in equipment and weeks of productive time. PUT A LABEL ON IT OR IN THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT IT DOES NOT SUPPORT EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES!
