Did Not Work For Two Monitors

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked the shape of this hub which would help cool my work laptop, but unfortunately it would not recognize my second monitor (and they are the same brand and model). I do not have admin rights to the laptop and could not download any drivers, so it was returned. I replaced with a different hub for much much less, it was just plug and play.

We do offer plug-and-play devices that may work with your computer for adding displays, Ethernet, SD card reading and more. Not great on the 3rd monitor.

Posted .The HDMI or DP video ports requires a computer to support DisplayPort Alt Mode for video out. Please refer to the manufacturer of your hardware for more information on your device. The VGA, Mic and stand alone HDMI port requires an installation of a driver. Depending on the OS you have, different instructions apply. Within 3 weeks, I had 2 major scam alerts: one was a $20,000 charge to our company credit card, the other tried to impersonate me to change my work direct deposit. The only way someone could've gotten enough information to do both of these is from the information taken when you enable the USB device to do Screen Recording.

Posted .Screen recording just means, it essentially allows video in or out of the computer, video conferencing such as zoom or google meet also requires this to be enabled otherwise they will not work. Not worth it.

Garbage - Proprietary Firmware for a dock?

Read reviews, and thought it was a PC issue using this. I have a new MacBook Pro and was looking for a good charging station, and multiple video outputs. I installed the software (kind of shady that it asked me to trust a persons name for the install rather than the company name). Didn’t charge anything. My 4K monitor just bounced in and out repeatedly of showing anything. Don’t waste any time or money on this.

Stopped Working After 3 months

Being behind on updates could cause the j5 device to not function as intended. A lot of potential but doesn't live up to it.

I was running of Thunderbolt 4 and could only get the HDMI port to work. The SD card slot won't read my camera SD card. So basically it's an over priced 3 port hub for me.

Doesn't work reliably

I wanted a docking station that I could switch different laptops out of so I could use my double screens consistently. The docking station requires drivers that I can't use with my work laptop. I kept it anyways to use with my personal laptops, but switching between the two seems impossible. The connection to the docking station is pretty terrible, and my screens periodically disconnect. Bummer.

Purchased for Triple display on my Mac book pro

In the case where it is not fully compatible, an agent will makes recommendations for alternatives.

Do Not Bother

I bought two different j5creates and they are useless. The second one has never worked at all. This works when it is in the mood. Then spontaneously just stops. Then I "troubleshoot" (meaning unplug things randomly) for an hour. No rhyme or reason. Avoid it.

Works fine but warning message

The warning message that you are seeing is from your Mac and it is in regards to the next OS update; Big Sur. OS Big Sur will bring significant changes to your operating system. Our developers are currently working on an updated driver that will be compatible with Big Sur. Once the driver is released and you upgrade to Big Sur you can visit the j5create website to update the driver on your computer. Does Not Work

After spending TWO extended sessions with Tech Support from the manufacturer and two more extended sessions with my Geek Squad Total Tech Support Rep’s, they couldn’t fix it and suggested, like several times before on other issues on other equipment, that I’d have to “take it to my local retail outlet” for them to diagnose and repair or replace. Bet this review never makes it to print!

The JCD543 does not require a power supply to function, it can be powered by your laptop. It will support pass through charging via a USB-C power supply. I’m sorry that you had to take the time to return the docking station.
