Depending on the make and model of your computer, you may run into either incompatibility issues or limitations. Thank you for sharing you feedback on the docking station. For the best display resolution a direct connection between your computer and your monitor will give you the best results. The 30 Hz refresh rate is a limitation on this dock. This dock does require a driver to be installed and that it is plugged into a USB-C port that supports display port alternate mode.

Apple has gone forward ahead of everyone in adopting the USB-C standard. Hopefully more manufacturers will catch up soon.

Unfortunately CeCe, at this time we don't have any devices that will allow more than 1 display to a M1 computer, including our PnP devices. We are working on a driver for this to happen. Sincerely, j5create.

Hello and thank you for your review on the JCD543. Depending on the operating system and what capabilities your computer has, the JCD543 may offer limited functionality. Because one of the HDMI ports on the JCD543 requires a feature called DP alt-mode/Thunderbolt 3 to output video signal via USB-C, these may not work if you computer lacks such capabilities. We're sorry to hear about your experience in not being able to work with your HP laptop. For technical difficulties with our products, we recommend reaching out to the support team on the packaging to speak with an agent and they will talk you through the setup process and in the case where it still does not work, we will offer an exchange or an alternative if necessary.

Depending on the type of processor in your MacBook Pro, we may not have compatible software for you at this time. I'm so sorry to hear you didn't get what you were looking for! Best Buy does sell this unit with the power adapter included, our JCDP543 unit. There is also the option of purchasing the adapter separately, also offered through Best Buy. I know how frustrating it can be to have to exchange or go back for something else on top of the initial trip so I do apologize for that inconvenience!

The USB-C Triple Display Docking Station requires that a computer supports an available USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode (for video out via DP or HDMI port) and USB Power Delivery 2.0 or 3.0 (for pass-through charge via USB-C power-in port) features. Please refer to the manufacturer of your hardware for more information on your device. This Dock will also require an installation of a driver for the VGA, Mic and the stand alone HDMI port for proper functionality. Drivers are available on j5create website under the "Support" tab. The DP or HDMI are PnP ports and only (1) video port can be used. If connected to a USB 2.0 host port, or if using a USB 2.0 host cable, performance may be limited.
