Does not support VGA monitors that don't have HDMI
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this dock to hook up my new laptop to my old desktop monitor because the J5 website said: "These multi-adapters allow you to add an additional USB™ 3.1/SD™/microSD™ computer peripheral, HDMI™/DisplayPort™/VGA monitor and Gigabit Ethernet through your USB™ port." After several hours installing and uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and getting a link from J5 to update the firmware for the docking station I was informed: " if the monitor is an older one that only supports VGA and not HDMI as well, it will go to sleep. You need a newer monitor that support both HDMI and VGA." Another unfinished piece of Tech that doesn't work as specified. Don't waste your time. Computer was Lenovo Yoga C740-14IML Laptop

I'm so sorry to hear that you had this problem! Unfortunately this is an issue that crosses all brands and happens with a monitor is closer to ten years or older. The technology in them is simply just not compatible with newer docking stations. I'm sorry you had this inconvenience!

Doesn't work as advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Not only does this not support two displays at 4K (as advertised) it won't even support two displays at 2K on a Dell XPS 15 7590. On top of that, the ethernet connection was spotty at best, and I only ever managed about 200 Mbps download speed on a Gigabit Internet service. This is with me plugging power into the device and with the drivers installed on my laptop from J5Create's website. Don't waste your time with this product, if you need dual or triple display output at high resolution you probably need to spend more than this.

Was NOT a fan...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll start positively; it's lightweight and provides a nice rest for the laptop. That's about it. I was hoping to replace the station I have and have more hubs. That said, it would not provide enough power to my laptop to keep it from dying. When I plugged in my laptop directly, and after installing the bloatware, my screen resolution dropped, and the sound quality on the mic was garbage. You get what you pay for.... apparently.

Does not output two 4k signals on Mac

It does not output two 4k signals on Mac OS 10.14 (for reference, I have a MacBook Pro that supports up to 4 external 4k monitors). This dock will not output 4K + 4K on a Mac. I can get 4K on one HDMI port, but the other one (the one that can output *either* HDMI or DisplayPort) will only output up to 1440. It doesn't matter whether I use HDMI or DisplayPort there, it will only do 1440. HDMI + HDMI does 4K + 1440p. HDMI + DisplayPort does 4K + 1440p. Cables are verified to provide 4k output on other setups with this Mac. Will be returning this product.

Not recognizing second screen

It's like it is not recognizing that I am using the second HDMI port. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but I bought this to use two screens and now I can't.

Doesn't support full resolution on Display port
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced previous stock HP docking station with this one and could not get resolution up to 2560x1440. I contacted support for troubleshooting and on average it took 24 hours to receive a response to any previous communications. After 5 days of dealing with a 24 hour response to email replies and no useful advice to resolve the issue, I will be returning this product. Questions I expected to be asked but wasn't include: Can you verify the drivers are installed properly? Can you provide a copy of video driver logs? Can you verify the docking station is on the latest version of firmware?

Garbage doesnt work.

The power in doesnt provide extra power to peripherals. This thing is a non powered usb hub that is over priced garbage. Yes i downloaded the drivers from j5create. Returning tomorrow purchased today... save your money dont get this crap. Reviews saying this thing works are lying or fake.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Almost none of the features work with Mac OS without their extremely weird driver software (something most docks do not need). The instructions for the driver tell me to just allow any one of: "Magic Control Technology Corp," "WEI LU SU" "Philip Jordan" administrative privileges if it comes up. Its pretty obvious the chip in this is some rebranded Chinese thing that changes every revision. Thats a bad sign for support or long-term capabilities. -- With the driver software (and my entire OS unsecured), I get freezes every 5-10 minutes and my USB devices often have lag.

Failed HDMI dual display

I purchased one and had to exchange it due to the dual display wouldn’t work and the unit smelled like smoke. The replacement docking station still does not show the dual HDMI display. This was a very disappointing purchase.

Over promises but under delivers

Instructions are poor and in the tiniest font imaginable when you find English. Technical support is a secret. Finally get it going and it doesn’t recognize display port. I bought it specifically for multiple screens and it only supports the laptop and the vga port. Unfortunately I can’t return it because Best Buy has a strict 14 day return policy. They shouldn’t sell junk but that’s another story. I’m done with J5 anything. It shouldn’t be this difficult.

Died after 2 years.

At first the additional monitors I have attached would lock up and I'd have to disconnect and re-connect and this happened maybe once a day. nearly 3 months later and this happens every hour. Unacceptable. I had no problems with my previous plugable docking station. I'm throwing this one out the window and going back to the plugable. It even locked my screens while trying to write this review, infuriating!

Doesn't work with 3 monitors
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would not recommend anyone buy this display docking station if you plan on using 3 monitors. 2 of the monitors will frequently (like every 20 minutes) freeze up and require a restart to work again. Upon contacting support and troubleshooting for 2 weeks, they said "Unfortunately this is an issue we have observed with the JCD543 and our research and development team is looking into this issue to find a resolution as soon as possible".

This docking station is unstable with my laptos
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product about 3 months ago but it was so unstable with HP ProBook 455 G6 + Acer monitors ( I have 2 monitors) and I tried to return this product but best buy support said my HP laptop and they did not accept this return I bought another laptop (Dell LATITUDE 7400) and it has the same problem to occur. I bought other model docking station on Amazon It does not have this kind of problem

Best Buy Gave Me a Used Docking Station
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This was a store pickup. I suspected it was used when the circular tape on box was crumpled. I knew it was when I opened it 30 minutes ago. The protective plastic bag was crumpled and where the bag was taped closed, there was a human hair stuck to the tape. The rubber mats on the bottom were dirty from where it had been on a surface. It will be returned tomorrow.

Kind of works

When using two HDMI cables, the HDMI 2 port keeps turning off and on, and the 1st one keeps freezing (this seems to be fixed if you unplug and plug the device back in. For the higher price of this, I would expect a device that was at least reliable. I would recommend getting something else.
