Thought this would be what I needed but alas….

It had all the plugs that I needed for my monitors and computer but it cannot handle any of it. I plugged everything in and set it up per the inbox instructions and it didn’t recognize the power cable and just completely drained my laptop trying to do its job.

In order for the laptop to charge through the docking station the USB-C port on laptop must support Power Delivery. The USB ports and the HDMI ports are really useful to do what I need to do. It fits very well beneath my laptop and doesn't take up too much space.

I loved the amount of port options you have, the idea of how the USB-C connector is made unnoticeable but the it's unfortunate this doesn't support all monitors or laptops, something to do with the drivers I think. I had issues using this with a display port, no matter what I did or what device I used - my monitor will always flicker, making it unusable. With HDMI though, it worked perfectly. I like the height to it as well, making it serve as a mini laptop stand and help ventilate your laptop. Overall, it's a good buy although I returned mine as it didn't serve the purpose I got it for.

Issues at first

I thought it was defective since only one of the display ports were working so i exchanged it but I was still having the same issue. I had to reach out to j5's customer service for help, they directed me to another driver that I would need in order to make the docking station work. Once I got past this hiccup, the docking station works beautifully I am really happy with my purchase. Anyone who is working from a home office and needs to power 2 monitors or even 3 I would recommend this. (Side note; I am using a MacBook Pro 2019 running Catalina with this docking station)

I was looking for a docking station with USB-C/Thunderbolt charging capability. This wasn't it. I returned it to Best Buy. They have another version of this item that includes the charging capability. That's what I should have purchased at the time. Upon further review, I found that the powered version of this item doesn't provide enough juice to charge my new laptop in a timely manner. That said, this item does exactly what it purports to do. You'll have a hard time finding another USB-C adapter with this capability at this price.

Posted .We are sorry to hear about the experience you had with the JCD543; when it comes to the pass through charging, there are two different models of the JCD543 where one includes a power supply and the other does not; regardless of which one is obtained, the power supply is not necessary as the device is bus-powered by the computer when connected. If your laptop requires more than 100 watts to charge, we recommend contacting the support team on the packaging in order to find you a solution and resolve this matter for you.

Computer Docking station

There are enough ports to add the external drive and mouse. My difficulty is with service. The USB ports will disconnect at no specific time. Then they will start working. I tried contacting service to speak with someone and got transferred twice, explaining both times the necessary information. Then I was connected with the remote access and disconnected. This had taken an hour and a half. When calling back it would be an additional hour+. This docking station is only a month old and I am pleased with what I can do with it.

The good: I like the look and the size of it. It fits well under the laptop and has all of the ports I need. Pricing is good, but you get what you pay for. The bad: I took it out of the box, updated all of the drivers on my laptop and then plugged it in. Mostly plug and play, but my laptop doesn't support the second HDMI port so I had to use the VGA port. I think that is where the problems come from. This thing freezes up every 5-10 minutes. I work on proposals and do a lot of copying and pasting, comparing versions, working in excel and word at the same time, etc. It seems like I have to much going on for the dock to handle. When I copy it freezes. I unplug it, plug it back in, paste, and click save and it freezes again. I will take it back this weekend and look for something else. I just have to finish the week with this issue as I need all screens to operate. Very dissapointed.

Half the staff at my local best buy told me they don't recommend this product. Why on earth does Best Buy carry junk they don't recommend? Also, the best buy membership didn't come in handy, they couldn't do anything to help or exchange this garbage product. The product availability at the store was quite disappointing as well and guess what they had the most inventory of? Yes, this junk product, so take that as a sign.

Good dock for Windows and Mac OS

Out of the box set up was easy I did not have to download any drivers for windows but did have to download drivers for 0SX. Are use the dark for two down monitors in the office and three Samsung TVs at home. Very happy with the product and amount of money spent. A little bit here goes a long way now.

However, It is a great docking station to help with presentations and allows you to add flash drives to it. I wish there was a way to lock the MacBook into it.

Posted .When it comes to making a better connection and securing it to where it will not come loose, the JCD543 does allow the laptop to rest on top of it that way the loss of connection does not occur too often. I would recommend contacting the support team on the packaging for further guidance on other troubleshooting that may be done.

I had trouble finding a docking station with everything I needed for a reasonable price. Now I can finally have the at home work station I have needed.
