I first picked up the IOGear version of this dock which was a little more and it worked but stopped working after a few weeks of use for reasons unknown. Tried updating the firmware and drivers to no avail. I saw this one and was hesitant due to the price but I’m glad I went with this one, it worked and all my monitors work without issue. A few months and no issues. While you do not need to install drivers for this dock, it is strongly recommended that you do so that your system can recognize all of the ports and displays easily.

I was given a Mac for work and wanted to extend its capabilities to monitors, USB slots, ethernet cord (when my wireless connection is acting) up, and a couple of other things. It's worth mentioning that I went through three different docking stations I purchased on Amazon and even though they claimed 'Mac compatibility', one thing or another wouldn't work. With one, the Mac wouldn't shut down or go to sleep - thought it was the settings, but that wasn't the case. Another didn't allow me to project two monitors even though it claimed it did (sigh). What's worse, a month or so ago, an update was pushed out by Apple that did not permit non-certified docking stations to be used so future hardware problems can be prevented. Annoying but understandable. I chatted with a colleague at work who recommended a couple of brands he uses for his Mac. Based on some heavy duty research, I ended up settling on this guy and then crossed my fingers. So far it works but, specifically in my situation, there was an issue of not being able to have my two Dell monitors extended. I was under the impression if I plugged them in the j5create, one via HDMI port, and another in the DPA (bought a little HDMI adapter for it), that all would work. What I failed to realize is that the USB Type-C cable isn't strong enough to support output for two monitors, so what I ended up doing is getting a USB-C to HDMI cable and plugged the second monitor directly into the Mac. I could have easily misunderstood the capabilities of this particular docking station, but the Mac goes to sleep and shuts off fine now. Monitor extension could present a problem for Mac users whose laptops only have two Thunderbolt ports because they'll use up the ports. I lucked out because mine has four.

Purchased this J5Create Docking Station for our MacBook Air. The rep in the Apple section of our store recommended it and the clean, slim line design was appealing. I followed the simple instructions and was still having trouble connecting the other monitors. J5Create does not mention that they have a YouTube channel with “How to” videos for troubleshooting however they do and after finding these it made this product very easy to use. We ended up purchasing another one for our other PC computer and it works great.

This was the best purchase and I am very happy with this product. Helps to manage my desk.

This allows me to run 4 screens (max): 2-HDMI (or 1-HDMI, 1-DVI), 1 VGA, and the laptop screen. it eats up about .4gb of memory running but worth it; CPU idles at 2% with no apps running. The Vga is a little fuzzy but still worth it and I'm running intel 630 graphics with shared memory on the laptop. Overall very impressive. with all the options.

Works fine but directions are minimal and power supply is not provided. Works OK.

This product was very easy to set up and plug in. I use dual monitors attached to this unit via my laptop. It all works wonderfully and I'm very pleased with how simple it was to set up. It also has much more capacity to handle other external products!

I love the longer cable and the way everything connects. It was not as intuitive as I would have liked, though I expected it from the 4 start comments I reviewed. It still occasionally takes my computer a reboot or two to snap to both monitors, but works OK once the computer senses all monitors. Like it, just not intuitive as I would have hoped for, even though I did install all the drivers it needed.

I like the design of this dock. It is out of sight, and it is simple to set up. However, I use a dual monitor system, and for some reason, oftentimes one of the monitors does not receive a signal, which results in the loss of the monitor. I have found that unplugging and replugging in the monitor HDMI cable to the dock will usually resolve the problem. Like anything else, I’m happy with it when it works, and not so much when it doesn’t.

This item was purchased as a gift for my wife, and replaces an earlier dock she had. The dock she had before had issues with falling out of the ports on the side of the MacBook Pro because it was not tight enough, and also had issues with not enough ports. This j5Create dock solved every single one of those problem, plus takes up zero space on the desk since it sits under the front of the MacBook Pro. Frankly, its the perfect dock for a permanent style dock.

easy to set up and does what I need to do. I use a surface laptop and was able to extend it to my dual monitor setup. Think a fair price would be $100.

This docking station is perfect for power users and people who want two screens with the use of a laptop. Was easily able to hookup my work computer via USB C and get my 2 monitors, mouse and keyboard working on it with no issues. You will need to install software for it to work on your computer, so if your work organization doesn't allow that you should ask your workplace if they provide docking stations before purchasing.

Sleek. Updated quickly and it work amazingly. Increases the laptop, so that there is space beneath it and is air cooled.

So nice to not have to reach under my desk to plug in my laptop to charge any more. The docking station sits off to the side on my desk, making it very convenient for me to plug into my laptop.

This adapter is not compatible with the 2021 MacBook Pro/M1 Big Sur. The usb ports work, but hdmi and display port functionality cannot work because of adapter hardware incompatibility with Apple M1 Silicon. This is the manufacture’s response received 29 days after my initial support email. “Unfortunately, j5create driver-based display adapters and docking stations (like the JCD543) are not fully compatible with M1 Chip Mac computers at this time. This is because M1 Macs use an entirely different processor architecture that does not allow our drivers to properly install. “ The outside packaging makes no mention of this, nor did the Best Buy associate. I am stuck with a very expensive USB adapter. Not happy.
