It's hard to get installed for older laptops. Use only with laptops that have the USB-C port. When you install an adaptor, you will have to use the HDMI port on the laptop and one on the Docking station for older laptops

Posted .Generally, adapters emit some heat as a normal part of its operation, especially if the USB-C pass-through charging, Ethernet and/or all ports on the hub are utilized. Please note that hotter operating temperatures can be expected..

Allows a one plug connection to charge and increase the number of ports available. Two external monitors, and other peripheral devices connected with no issues.

It works just fine for me. I use every port and one HDMI and feed it with a DELL 120 W power supply and so it handles powering my surface as well. the The gigabyte ethernet port works well but I have a 5 Gig optical so I run a separate 2.5 Gb interface on one of the USB 3 ports to give me better throughput. Once or twice it has dropped its connection but I suspect it has to do with the Surface.

Has plenty of USB slots to have charging cables for most of my devices. I like the way it sits under the laptop and raises it up a little.

Didn't work with older laptop

I did reach out to J5Create who were very helpful and they got me set up with the right product for my laptop to add 2 monitors. So there service is excellent.

The JCD543 does require to be plugged into a USB-C port that supports display port alternate mode. Not all laptops have these features. Our customer support team is available if you have any questions regarding the system requirements of our devices.

Very diversified docking station.

Probably will need an apple adapter to make this work. Otherwise the software download was seamless and I am up and running. The device does get warm but I believe this is normal with most docking stations. So far I am not disappointed.

I am happy that you are not disappointed with the docking station. You are correct that docking stations will generate some heat, so this is to be expected. Regarding the dock not being able to connect to your older monitor: if your older monitor does have a VGA port it should work with the dock. If this is the case with your monitor, you can save yourself a trip and some money by contacting our support team for assistance. Would not recommend this product for Mac OS.

There are no instructions in the box. You have to download a driver in order for the Ethernet feature to work on this device, which is indicated by a sticker on the cord (STOP need to download driver before using). However, after doing a Google Search for the driver I was greeted by a HUGE popup on j5create Website that states: Attention macOS® 11 Big Sur users: j5create USB™ Display and USB™ Ethernet adapters are not currently compatible with macOS® Big Sur 11. To avoid loss of functionality with the j5create USB™ Display and USB™ Ethernet adapters, we advise all Mac® users to delay updating to macOS® Big Sur 11. Very disappointing. Big Sur was released, 11/12/2020. For a device that costs $110 I would expect it to work as intended. I returned the device.

We appreciate your feedback and what you are stating is true. As of today 01/05/2021 we do not have drivers for this docking station that are compatible with MacOS Big Sur. We are currently working on them, but due to the significant changes with the operating system there has been a delay. We will post an announcement on the j5create website once we release the drivers. The patience from our customers is greatly appreciated.

Don't Do It!

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as it was supposed to be universal and work with the multiple different laptop brands we have (2-HPs, 1-Asus, 1-Dell) and allow me to connect two external monitors without having connectivity issues. However, it's total crap and doesn't work. Don't waste your money and stay away from it. I've tried multiple different cords as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the software and yet I only get one monitor at any given time so I'm still connecting one monitor directly to my laptop which is annoying hence the reason I wanted the docking station. I even purchased the J5 power cord for it thinking maybe it was power related but now I'm just out even more money.. I highly suggest not purchasing this docking station period, especially if you're intending to have more than one external display.

Posted .The docking station is a universal docking that can work with different brands of laptops, however in order for the docking station to output displays to all external monitors the driver must be installed and the USB-C port on the laptop must support DisplayPort Alternate Mode (supported by Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4 laptops). The usb charges the laptop which I read some reviews that it wouldn’t. The only thing that was frustrating is it didn’t come with a power supply. Other than that it’s working as it should be.

Posted .You may use your own equipped power supply via your computer's power brick if it came with a USB-C connection with 65W or higher or JUP2290 will be another option. The JCD543P comes with a power adapter, where as the JCD543 does not.
