Unfortunately, this freezes on a sporadic basis and you have to unplug it, wait a moment, then plug it back in and wait for the connection(s) to cycle back up. It can run fine for days and then suddenly freeze three or four times in a single day. Which is what brought me out to help make others aware of the potential issue. I do really like all the ports, though.

Posted .Sporadically freezing can be rare with the JCD543 and in such situations, we recommend contacting the technical support team printed on the casing to speak with a specialist. I tried to charge my Fitbit and cell at the same time and was unable to. Not enough power was listed as the cause. Very dissapointing.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since the new desktops come with few USB ports, the docking station is needed so that I can attach my scanner, printer, external hard drive for backup, the monitor from my last computer so that I have two screens, a USB port for a flash drive that I can use to carry data with me, and a card reader for the memory card that works well with my excellent digital camera.

About 6 months after that a usb port stopped working. Not worth the cost, even if you have to pay a little more, get better quality.

When I explain that I would not be using the laptop as a monitor Geek squad said this would be best docking station. It only works on 1 monitor with laptop open. If I try and extend to 2 monitors it does not work. I did reach out to brand and there is nothing they can do.

Posted .The JCD543 requires a driver for additional monitors. Download and install the latest MCT drivers from j5create's website.
The Docking Station will also require that your computer supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt Mode) to transmit audio and video signals. Please refer to the manufacturer of your hardware for more information on your device. Thank you.
