Nice docking station but could be better

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is a good docking station; however you really need to buy the 100 watt charger because otherwise if you use a laptop charger under that wattage it will not support it. Which is disappointing. It will drain a 64 watt charger. But it is nice to plug in a printer and a monitor and a couple of other devices.

Happy to hear that it was easy to setup the docking station and that it is working great for you. To get the full functionality out of this device it does require drivers to be installed and to plug the USB C in to a port on your computer that supports display port alternate mode. However, I've been using this thing now for several months. On windows the second screen locks up fairly often. I have to unplug and reconnect to fix the issue. On Mac typically only the first screen shows. There is a very specific way to install the drivers so they both show. Calling support will get you through this issue. Audio does not pass through for either mac or windows.

One problem I'm having is internet through the attached ethernet cable suddenly disconnecting. This has happened very inconveniently when I'm leading Zoom meetings with 50 people in them. I've finally decided that it's the docking station, because other devices using my router have not stopped working. In order to get the ethernet connection working again, I have to eject the external hard drives connected to this docking station and then unplug and replug it to the mac. The other thing that doesn't work well is that if my external screen is turned off, the docking station doesn't seem to notice and the mac keeps putting windows up there. I can't use or close the windows, e.g. my browser, when the screen is turned off. So my mac thinks the browser is open, for instance, but I can't use it. This is inconvenient, because the screen is attached to a UPS, which takes time to fire up. I don't like this device. Now that I'm seeing that it is responsible for my Zoom meetings crashing I have to figure out whether it's still under warranty or not.
