Posted .Hello motherstudentworker, thank you for taking the time to write a review of the Jabra Elite 65t. The Left Earbud of the Elite 65t has to be in range with the Right Earbud to function properly. The maximum range between the earbuds is 20cm/8in. Please feel free to use the Right Earbud independently. You can play/pause by pressing the multi-function button or by pausing from the phone. If you use the Right Earbud independently, the volume has to be controlled from the phone, and you have to skip tracks from the phone (since you are not using the Left Earbud). The Right earbud is where the Bluetooth connection between your phone and the Elite 65t is hosted. The Left Earbud is then connected to the Right Earbud through a different kind of connection (not Bluetooth), and that's why the Left Earbud will not work independently (since it does not have a Bluetooth connection with the phone). Too bulky!
