Not worth the money
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound and features are not worth the price. I got mine for $150. The sound isn’t that great. My $50 JBL blows it out of the water. The JBL on 50% volume is like the Jabra on 100%. Also the mic noise cancellation isn’t that good on the Jabra.

Posted .Hello CRV24- Thank you so much for reviewing the Jabra Elite 85h. We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the Elite 85h functionality. At this time, the Jabra Elite 85h does not offer microphone noise cancellation. Instead, the Elite 85h uses advanced call technology that uses 6 of the headphones’ 8 microphones to greatly enhance call quality, blocking out more wind noise and background distractions. Regarding the audio quality of the Jabra Elite 85h, we believe that the headset maintains a powerful volume level and a nice balance between the highs, mids, and lows of the audio you are listening to. In order to get the best possible audio quality with your Elite 85h, we recommend making sure your headset is placed correctly on your ears. You can check our support page article to ensure you have the proper adjustment with your Jabra Elite 85h. That article can be found here: https://www.jabra.com/supportpages/jabra-elite-85h/100-99030003-14/faq/How-do-I-get-the-best-fit-with-my-Jabra-headset_headphones#/. Furthermore, to ensure you get optimum audio quality and Active Noise Cancellation with your Jabra Elite 85h, please check that there is nothing interfering with the acoustic seal of the ear cushions against your head. It is important for the audio performance of your headset that the ear cushions cover and surround your ears completely. Excellent but Falls Short of the Best
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Jabra 85h occupy a meaningful but increasing slim niche in the noise cancelling wireless headphone market. They are cleverly designed, have a number of excellent features, and perform well in almost every circumstance. There really isn't much to complain about when it comes to the headphones unless you compare them to the class leaders (such as the Sony WH-1000xm3-xm4) where they lag behind in sound quality and (most notably) ANC performance. All told the 85h are a wonderful set of headphones but they are better evaluated as simply wireless headphones than ANC focused headphones simply because they can't deliver anything close to class leading isolation. First some pros: Unobjectionable and well-balanced sound quality that carries across all genres Rugged design that other models lack with tough fabric material and much appreciated waterproofing Great (class-leading) battery life Clear, crisp microphone and excellent call functionality Quality of life features: multi-point paring with seamless switching, removing the ear cup pauses the music, built in equalizer, etc. Price! Cons: Fairly weak and ineffective active noise cancelling compared to the competition Large and not quite as comfortable as Sony or Bose Sound quality is not as clear and detailed as the high-end competition All told the main weakness of these headphones is their weak noise cancelling and good (but not great) sound quality. The likes of Bose and Sony (not to mention more expensive models like Bowers and Wilkins or Bang and Oulfsen) offer noise cancelling that is so far what these headphones can accomplish that I would not feel comfortable recommending these headphones to someone whose primary goal is isolation. They do however make for a wonderful companion in work-from-home or office settings (Jabra is first and foremost a communication company after-all!). They are better than all of the relevant competition when it comes to microphone performance and work well with zoom and hangouts (although they sadly lack compatibility with Microsoft Teams). Further, as they have excellent battery life (coupled with quick charge and USB-C) I never once felt pressed for battery life even during grueling work weeks. They are also capable of taking a beating much better than the more delicate Sony's. As they are waterproofed both on the inside and the outside and feature a lovely fabric material which cannot be easily scratched or torn I never had any concern when taking these headphones to the gym, throwing them in a bag, or wearing them in light rain or snow. This makes them a good deal more versatile than any other model I've come across. To conclude, if you want a flexible, tough, and well-designed set of wireless headphones for work, travel, or daily life, these will serve you well. If you need powerful noise cancelling or want to do serious critical listening look elsewhere.

Top notch ANC headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been in the Bose active noise cancelling family for a while now. Currently I own the QC 20i and the Bose Hearphones and can say the active noise cancelling features on both are a gold standard to me. With that being said, I never felt like I needed over the ear noise cancelling headphones until I tried out the Jabra 85h. The noise cancelling, ergonomics, and technology is very good. The headphones automatically adjust the level of active noise canceling depending on how noisy the environment is. I have never had any noise cancelling headphones do this, and the Jabra 85h does this very well. At home, the headphones cranked up the active noise canceling to max when my roommate began to vacuum. I didn’t have to do anything other than continue watching Netflix. The automatic pause feature where the music I am listening to stops when I move the position of the headphones from my ears to around my neck is genius. Once I put the headphones from around my neck and back onto my ears, the music resumes. The volume up/down, next track/previous track buttons are easy to hit. There is no on/off button because the ear cup position controls whether the headphones turn on or off. If the ear cups are folded flat, the headphones turn off. If the ear cups aren’t flat then the headphones are on. I love this feature, but can see why some might not like it. I never would have thought Jabra would come out with a product that is this well thought out and put together. While the technological advances and conveniences afforded by the 85h seem small on the surface, you will miss them when you are using a pair of headphones that don’t have them.

Admirable Competitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These new Jabra noise cancelling headphones have a lot going for them. They have a companion app that let's you customize the sound signature which is very useful considering the default sound settings are just okay. The tech in these headphones is by far the best I've seen in any pair. I like that they know when they're off my head and pause themselves. It does take a couple of second to recognize that they're off but it works well. I love that there is no power button and the orientation of the ear muffs distinguishes whether they are on or off which is super convenient. The noise cancellation is very elite considering the headphones can adapt to whatever environment I'm in and change the setting based on that environment and it works very fluidly. My only concern with these headphones is that they only sound great at full volume and the noise cancellation is good but not great. I could still hear cars passing by on a busy street while I sat in my car on lunch break with the volume at full and noise cancellation at the highest setting. Despite that, they are definitely a worthy buy and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new pair of noise cancelling headphones that can't pay over that $300 mark. The technology is what makes these headphones stand out above the rest of the competition and Jabra did it right.

Noise canceling headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Jabra Elite 85h noise canceling headphones are a nice pair of headphones! They’re easy to pair with your phone, and I appreciate how simple the control buttons are (one on left ear to toggle from noise canceling to hear-through to off, and volume up/skip forward, volume down/skip back, and pause/unpause/hold to pair). I also find it so convenient that to turn on and off the headphones, you just rotate the right ear of headphones. They come with a nice case, which holds a usb charger, a cord to use if you can’t/don’t want to use them with bluetooth, and an airplane plug-in adapter. The headphones sound quality and noise canceling aspect are wonderful! You don’t have to blast your music to hear it in a moderately loud environment like I find myself doing with regular earbuds/headphones, and I’ve been using them on and off for a couple of weeks, and I still haven’t needed to charge them! I would highly recommend them.

Great Sound, Great New Technology
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These Jabra Elite 85h have become my new favorites. I have Bose and Sony headphones, and all are great. No complaints on them. But this Jabra distinguishes itself with adding HearThrough. It really does work well and work for me. When you have it off, you get some noise through. When you turn on Noise Cancellation it goes quiet, unless you have music on (obviously, but just in case you didn't know that you could play music with it on). HearThrough is an interesting idea and not one that I ever thought of. I'm not the kind to generally walk around with headphones on and might end up in a situation that I need to hear something around me. Crossing streets, on a platform for the train, etc. I have used this at home to be able to listen to whatever I want while my kid can do whatever they want. It's a little thing, but generally I wouldn't listen to music or watch something while they were around with headphones or earbuds because I need to listen for them. HearThrough really works and it works for me well. Now while they're watching YouTube videos or a movie, if I'm not interested, I can still be around but have my own thing going. And when I hear a problem or they try to speak to me, they don't have to ask multiple times or try to wave me down. Not the intended use, but a nice bonus for me. I might actually take these out more having experienced HearThrough. Outside of that, the sound is great. The controls were easy to figure out and I like the app. The app has low rating on iOS, but it's worked great for me and the different equalizer settings and options are just what I need. I would highly recommend these Jabra - Elite 85h Wireless Headphones.

Great for phone calls
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in the market for noise cancelling headphones, primarily to support phone calls in my home office, and secondarily for travel. I researched Bose QuietComfort 35 and Sony WH-1000 and was close to buying one of these, but I read several marginal reviews for both when it came to the quality of phone calls for people on the other end of the line. Jabra 85h on the other hand rated more highly in this regard. I purchased the Jabra headphones two months ago and I'm glad I did. Listeners on the other end of phone calls say the quality is great. Battery life is excellent. Noise cancelling capability is very good while in airports and airplanes, and tone quality when listening to music is very good from my perspective. My only minor complaint so far is that the headphones are a bit heavy. After an hour or two on the phone your head is ready to have the headphones off for a while. Overall great product based on two months of experience. I would make the same purchase again.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fancy. Flip the earphones and it's on, fold them and it's off! Love it. Great style, pleasant to wear, great sound quality and nice caring case. I am very happy with it.Regardless do you use Bluetooth connection or 3,5mm audio jack sound is nice and clean. Noise cancellation feature is good, you can still some of the sound around you but very little which makes them solid for me. I am regular guys who likes to listen music but with some limitation to high bass and certain volume value and they are great for me. Pros: Design Flip on/off function Good clean sound quality Pleasant to wear Caring case Cons: None for me

Great Call Quality Meets Stellar Music Experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using Jabra products exclusively for my bluetooth communications because in my opinion, they offer superior quality for my calls. I usually use a different set of headphones for listening to music but Jabra 85h has been doing the role of both. The active noise cancelling is amazing, and works perfectly when I just want to escape into my music world. So now I have the perfect product for me that takes care of my calls AND my music. Battery life is beyond anything. I haven't charged them in two days with moderate use and using noise cancelling. My phone doesn't even last this long. STELLAR. The only reason I left off one star is that these headphones require a proprietary cable to charge instead of common USB types. I prefer to be able to use any available USB charge cord. Also the charge cord itself is very short.

A disappointment: low volum, weak bass, distorts
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been researching ANC bluetooth headphones for a few months now. Up 'til now, I've only owned cheap Chinese bluetooth earbuds that did the job without much fuss, but I was yearning for a more professional over-ear model. I wanted a fuller, deeper sound with more weight, as well as good call features. Unfortunately, the Jabra Elite 85h falls short. As a Jabra headset, the Elite 85h does a fine job of handling calls, but the musicality of these headphones is an utter disappointment. Before we go any further, here's a quick background about why my opinion on these headphones might matter to you: - I'm a bit of an audiophile. - I have been a hobbyist home music producer and DJ for almost 20 years. I regularly used big over-ear headphones long before they became a mainstream fashion statement. - I have over $15,000 in professional-grade speakers and audio gear. - In short, I know more about audio quality than the average person. ***AUDIO/MUSIC*** The Jabra Elite 85h are not a good choice for music because: 1) They have an emaciated bass response (even on a full charge). I understand that many headphones in the mainstream market have a bloated bass response. That isn't what I'm desiring, and that is not what I'm expecting from the 85h. However, the bass should be full and defined without being bloated. That is not the case here. 2) The speaker drivers offer a good amount of clarity and stereo separation. There is good imaging from left to right, but hardly any depth from front to back. I could hear nuances in vocals and acoustic instruments, but everything lacked weight. I have $200 studio monitor headphones that have more powerful bass than the 85h without sounding bloated. I tried various combinations of the EQ and other settings, but no setting was able to effectively overcome the svelte nature of the sound that these cans kick out. In fact, they began distorting badly when I selected the "bass boost" EQ. That is when I promptly removed the headphones from my head and started planning their return. ***NOISE CANCELLATION (ANC)*** The ANC on the Jabra Elite 85h headphones is very good. Admittedly, I'm not an ANC expert, but I felt the noise cancellation and related features on these headphones were excellent. ***CALL QUALITY*** I made a few calls in various different environments ranging from a quiet room to an airport. I had no issues of concern. ***BUILD QUALITY*** These headphones are almost entirely made out of plastic, fabric, foam and memory foam (for the ear cups). At the $299 price point, I expect more, and I have received better build quality from other brands. The foam on the headband and ear cups is covered by a type of plastic that will certainly deteriorate (peel) over time if you wear your headphones a lot. I know this because I've owned several headphones that use the same materials, and they all do that. ***COMFORT*** I think I have an average sized male head. The Elite 85h have been very comfortable. There is no clamping or other discomfort of note. ***BOTTOM LINE*** If you are a fan of Hip-Hop, Techno, House, Bass Music, or anything that is prominent in the bass frequencies then you will likely not enjoy these headphones. If you don't care about bass and loudness, or you are willing to sacrifice those factors for long battery life, great call quality, and noise cancellation then the Jabra Elite 85h might be the right choice for you. I wanted an all-rounder that would be equally good with music and call quality. Unfortunately, these did not meet my expectations.

Worthy Noise Cancellation Competition for Bose
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm comparing these to similar headset I've had for several years, the Bose QC 35. They compare very favorably. They have voice assistant option similar to what the Bose QC 35 II's brought to the table. They have a lot of the same features in common as expected for this type of higher end headset. These were used with the same phone that the Bose QC 35s are used with, a Samsung S8+. What I like: Noise cancellation seems to work about as well as the Bose QC 35, which is good, because Bose set a high bar in that area. Bluetooth Range is much better than the Bose, perhaps this is because of a newer implementation of Bluetooth since the QC 35s came out. Bluetooth connection is faster to devices when reconnecting/turning on headphones. Bose controls on headphones allow you to do only "next", while Jabra allows "previous" and "next", I like that. Jabra has better headband adjustments, the band slides smoothly, instead of clicking to certain lengths like the Bose, so more adjustable and still maintains band position really well. Rain resistant is a good feature, have been wary of killing my Bose in humid conditions, will definitely have a chance to try this out more this spring. I love the feature to turn off by turning the cans flat, and back to on by turning them to normal position. This works well for me, put them down around neck and turn flat, off. Pick up and twist to normal position and back on. Minor Quibbles: Jabra app voice has generic spoken "connected" message, while Bose says what it connected to. Padding on top of Jabra band is not as comfortable as Bose, as it is thicker and firmer. I know this is personal preference more than anything. Was not a fan of the special hear-through and auto adjusting modes offered through app, rather just control whether ANC is on or not manually. Don't like the fine mesh cloth on the back of the ear cups, seems a curious choice for rain-resistant headphones, and they catch pet hair and dander and are hard to clean off. Don't like Jabra battery voice saying just "High" because it is vague, Bose provides more information about battery status. Percentages are still shown in app/phone notification/status area as you would expect. All in all these are very premium ANC headphones that have provided me a great experience with a few new favorite features to covet.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality on these headphones is great but the noise cancelling capabilities are not as strong as similar models (Bose, Apple). They take a few wears for the padding to get broken in, but once it does they are very comfortable. You can connect to 2 devices at once and Jabra app is simple and easy yo use. All in all, a good pair of headphones but not perfect.

I wish best buy would still stock these.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Some of the best headphones that I've ever had, the noise canceling isn't the best but they lasted me almost 2 years before the left ear cup started cutting in and out I don't know what caused it but I had to get new headphones because of it. Since then I've had the Sony M4 and M5 both I could not tell the difference in sound quality, (I mostly listen to podcast) between the 3 the noise cancelation on the Sony 4s we're by far the worst and the 5s we're the best but not worth extra money and so now because they don't stock these anymore I can't purchase them again which I wish I could. I'm going to get rid of my sony 5s because with the two-year insurance plan they're almost $500 and are not worth that price. I'd rather pay nearly $500 for H85 versus the Sony M5 so I will be looking to Sennheiser.

Great pair of headphones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Others have already mentioned the sound quality and noise cancelling quality being good, but I think its the little things that make this pair better than my Sony 1000xm3. One thing that bothers me about the more expensive 1000xm3 is the squeaky plastic. When I move, I can hear it. The Elite 85h does not have that issue and just has a premium build feel to it. The other little thing is that the headphones turn on/off when the earcups are turned. Its pretty convenient to take the headphones out of the case and have it pair right away without pressing a button. Its just as simple to turn it off too, just put it back in the case and voila! The bluetooth 5.0 also allows me to have it connected to multiple devices, where I have to re-pair the 1000xm3 using NFC if I switch phones. Finally, the case is large enough to store the headphones without readjusting it all the way close. Sometimes its the little things that add up to make something great.

Firmware Update & EQ Make Huge Difference
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't get all the hate. A lot of the reviews must not have gotten the latest firmware update to help with the lack of volume. I think tweaking the EQ has made these headphones comparable with the XM3s and they're currently the only headphones with both Bluetooth 5.0 and USB-C. Battery life is like none other right now. We'll see how the big two respond.

Great Noise-cancelling Headphone Headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Jabra 85h is the perfect headset for me to use while working with its SmartSound function. I can listen to podcasts/webinars and answer my customer calls all at same time without being distracted from surrounding noises! When driving to visit customers I can use the HearThrough setting and still hear surrounding sounds to stay safe! The long time battery life is a huge plus too! My husband loves these too for listening to music very loud when the rest of us in the house don't want to hear music! Highly recommend!
