I work from home and I bought these to use on video conferences. I can be in video conferences for hours at a time and I wanted a light, comfortable, headset to replace my Logitech G933s (which burn through battery and are rather heavy). I really like the comfort of these and the built-in controls. However, that's where the good stuff ends: 1. When Zoom starts up the headset gets put into "hear through" mode and no amount of pressing the mode button will change the mode. 2. The headset randomly disconnects and then reconnects to the system. I thought it might be because I had it paired to my phone as well, but after disconnecting it from my phone it still disconnects and reconnects to my computer at random. 3. There isn't any software for dealing with the headset outside of a phone app. I will be returning this headset today and swapping for a Sony product. P.S. I don't need Jabra to respond to this review with garbage about the headset only being for phones. Bluetooth is not a protocol specifically for phones. Your device must work with any Bluetooth receiver to be compatible with the Bluetooth protocol. Your excuses are invalid.

Hello James- thank you for your review of the Jabra Elite 85h. We appreciate it. We are glad to hear that you are satisfied with the fit and functionality of the Elite 85h. As you correctly stated, we do not recommend you pair your Jabra Elite 85h directly with a computer. The Elite 85h is optimized to be used with other Bluetooth devices, such as smartphones or tablets. It is not optimized to be used directly with a computer. Therefore, we cannot guarantee device performance or provide support for performance problems that may result from this. If you choose to pair your Jabra Bluetooth device with a computer, it could work for audio streaming, but not for call control, which is not supported by many computers. Also, audio quality could vary depending on the model of the computer.
We also have a wide selection of headsets which are optimized for computer use: https://www.jabra.com/business. We are sorry to hear that you returned your Elite 85h. We hope that you will consider Jabra again in the future. Jabra

Its amazing, the noise cancelling is great, incredibly comfortable, and easy to wear for long periods of time. I can't find any ear buds that stay in both ears as im weird and have two different sized ear canals... (probably from wearing one ear bud over the years) and so i gave up. Bought these on sale and haven't looked back. The app on your phone is great too. I only wish it had touch controls but i'm spoiled by the ear buds.

Most comfortable headphones i've ever owned

These were the most comfortable headphones I've ever owned, they did the job, but they never particularly excelled in any of them and I really wished they did. Unfortunately, I kept having issues with them, the first one being mic quality, sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't? When they did sometimes I was told I sounded really far away. I was just better off swapping to my AirPods pros for calls. Now the ANC does work, I didn't particularly hear any hissing present in cheap ANC headphones, and especially considering the base price tag there should not be any if at all present. However, they weren't particularly any better than my AirPods pros in canceling out noise, they might have been worse if I'm being honest. The biggest issue I had with them was how they connected to multiple devices, and I kind of hated this feature, because it wasn't exactly seamless and I can't tell you how many times I had static playing due to the conflict of connection between two devices. Which were between my phone and laptop. Finally the sound, they were alright? I wasn't blown away and though I'm not a bass lover it seemed nonexistent in these pair of headphones, though they were quite flat and clear they also felt really quiet to me. *also, the build quality is quite solid* I'd recommend these at a discount, but at the base price I'd recommend just saving up more for sony's new WH-1000XM4's.

I debated over sony 1000xm2, bose 700, or these. I ultimately decided to go with the Jabra headset because I take a lot of phone calls on my phone while I am using the headset, and the features on this headset had more what I was looking for. The in-call voice quality is fantastic, as well as the hear through while on the call. There have been some people complaining that when using the headphones on online meeting or other software application on the computer they cannot get the active noise cancelation (ANC) to turn on and instead only uses hear-through. This is simply an error on the user. When this headset pairs with the computer, it gives two devices; you can select the stereo option or the hands-free ag option; if you choose the hands-free option, it engages hear-through if you select stereo then you can use it as ANC. Still, I would argue that when you are using it in an online meeting, you wouldn't want the ANC because the in-call experience is so much better with the hear-through. In any case, the big question is the sound quality. I would compare it to a baby brother to the sony 1000xm2. The sound is really good its not as good as the sony headset so if you are an audiophile who does not have a need for a very functional hand-free headset for business then go with sony, but if you have more needs then just listening to music this is the headset for you.

The connection works great, and you can connect 2 devices so that's comes in handy. The sound quality is the best Bluetooth experience I've had so far, and the noise cancelling works good too. They're also very comfortable. I'd recommend them highly. Get the app to increase and customize your experience. It's free.

Ive been a Jabra product fan for years. This headphones doesnt not provide a heavy bass sound or crazy loud sounds. Is a well balance and sofisticaded sound overall. If you are a audiophile junkie you will like them because they are not to heavy on bass like a "Beats" heavy type of sound.

After two months, still haven't had to recharge them. Like the storage case that comes with them. No on or off switch to worry about. They turn on when you turn the ear piece to the wearing position. However, they do get hot after wearing awhile which I contribute to a good fit and great Noise cancelling. I like them

Excellent audio quality and sound isolation. My favorite part is the battery life, these things have never died on me even after leaving them untouched for 2 months. I did purchase on sale for $150, would be 4 stars if I had to pay full price of $250.

    Very good ANC Bluetooth headset

The headset came with a 2-prong airline audio adaptor, a 4-foot 3.5mm audio cable (TRS), a USB charging cable (USB A to USB C), and a rather large (8” x 7” x 2”), rigid, oval carrying case. Sadly, it did not include a User’s Manual (available at https://www.jabra.com/supportpages/jabra-elite-85h#/#100-99030000-02). The unit came fully charged (100%!). Pairing: The 85h is put into pairing mode by a long press on the center button on the right earcup. Pairing with my iPhone 6+ and Samsung S4 was simple with and without the Sound+ app. I had hoped to use the 85h for teleconferences at work, however pairing with my work computer (Windows 7 laptop) was problematic and incomplete. Pairing with my personal Windows 10 laptop was straightforward. Use the “Jabra Elite 85h (stereo)” device for best sound quality. Design: What was done well: Battery life is exceptional! The Jabra promotional literature claims 36 hours of use with ANC enabled on a single charge. I have yet to get to “battery medium” in 12h of intermittent use (with ANC) and can’t imagine a situation when I would wear them for that long in one sitting. Needless to say, I have not been able to test the quick-charge claim that a 15-minute charge on a dead battery will get you 5 hours of use. Buttons are well placed and easy to access. The volume buttons work independently from the volume setting on the connected smartphone, even with Sound+. The 85h is bulkier than in-ear ANC headsets, but they are comfortable for extended wear. Earpads are comfortable, but can get warm after a while. The folding design is well-conceived. The 85h turns itself off to conserve battery when it the earcups are turned flat. The left earcup also pivots inward for easy storage in the case. What can be improved: The 85h is primarily designed to be used with a smartphone with the Sound+ app installed. I use my phones for conversations and use other devices for music and video (e.g. Hi-Res digital audio player and computer) for which the Sound+ app is unavailable. An update to the firmware to make the 85h less dependent on the Sound+ app would be nice. There is no mark or letter that I could find to identify the right and left side of the headset. A letter or color designation (even a small one) would be helpful. The only way to update the firmware is using the Sound+ app installed on a smartphone. There is a zip file with the latest firmware on the Jabra web site, but there are no instructions on how to install the update from a computer. The 85h design could have accommodated a 4-pole (TRRS) plug that would have allowed it to double as a wired headset. The “on-ear detection” feature is a nice thought, but did not work for me. Taking the 85h off is supposed to pause music or mute a call. This feature did not work for me. Not having this feature shouldn’t sour anyone’s opinion of the 85h (except, perhaps, the engineer who worked so hard to put it there). Sound+ app: The Sound+ app requires access to location, photos/media/files, microphone, Bluetooth connection information, device ID and call information, and wearable sensors/activity data. The Sound+ app will remember the last location where your 85h was paired with your phone, but it won’t tell you where they are now. I see no reason why a Bluetooth headset would require access to wearable sensor/activity data. In order to actively connected the 85h to two Bluetooth devices at the same time, Sound+ app must be installed on both. The SmartSound feature allows the app to listen to your surroundings and determine which ANC mode to use. I prefer to disable SmartSound. There are four editable “moments” available in Sound+. The full functionality of each is beyond the scope of this review. The Sound+ app is “self-documenting” (which means you have to install the app to learn how it works). There are some FAQs on the Jabra web site, but no User’s Guide in PDF format. Operation: The mode switch on left earcup (ANC/Hear-Through/Off) may stop working if you don’t turn the 85h off before pairing a device without the Sound+ app. The functionality of the buttons is dependent on 1) the device to which it is connected, 2) whether the Sound+ app is installed, 3) whether you are actively listening, and 4) whether the source or 85h was powered on first. The features and functionality of the 85h can be quite different with and without the Sound+ app installed. It is a very good headset and quite usable without the app, but many of the advertised features of the 85h rely on the Sound+ app to work. Sound Quality (SQ): Like every other Bluetooth headset I have tried, there is an audible hiss with ANC. The hiss is louder when the 85h is in the “hear-through” mode. There is no hiss when ANC is off or when connected using the 3.5mm audio cable. The quality and Bluetooth version of the source device makes a *big* difference when listening to music. SQ was unremarkable with my iPhone 6 (IOS 12.2) and Samsung S4 (Android 5.0.1), SQ was markedly improved when I paired the 85h with my Hi-Res digital audio player and using the LDAC or aptX-HD Bluetooth codec. The 85h is responsive throughout the specified 10Hz to 20kHz frequency range. Bass is present, not too forward, and well-defined. There is a bit of bass extension making them less precise than my wired headphones. The mid-range is well-balanced with clear vocals and good orchestral range. Treble was clear without being sibilant. Overall: The 85h is not quite “audiophile” quality, but very close and a good option when traveling and listening to music or watching videos on Bluetooth source systems that are aptX-HD or LDAC codec capable. The battery life is exceptional and will easily see you through to any destination (and back again). The Sound+ app is more intrusive than I would like, but is required to use all of the features advertised by Jabra and to make firmware updates. They are bulkier than other some other Bluetooth headsets, but the battery life is worth it.

These have been a really solid purchase. If you're considering them now, they were a great value versus the price and discounts now make that more true. There are probably competitors that deliver better ANC now but if you don't need the absolute best performance, this is a really great pair of headphones for the money.

I cannot complain about the audio. Noise-canceling works extremely well. A week ago, I forgot to take off my headset while working, and a video coming from youtube was paused and for no reason, it started playing again. I was completely confused for 2 seconds, I thought someone opened my door behind me, but indeed was just part of the video. I felt like in the Matrix! There are just 2 things that were kinda disappointing to me: 1. Mute button: It just doesn't work at all. I tend to move a lot at home as now I am working remotely so I still need to run to the computer to mute/unmute in the middle of my calls. 2. Microphone background noise canceling: I was expecting the same functionality as the Jabra Evolve 65 (I got it but it broke down, and I decided to upgrade my headset). That version was great at minimizing the background noise around me. I did a couple of tests with some friends and they could hear when I was washing the dishes and other small background noises.
