||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like everything about it this earbuds but the only reason I give it one star because you can't use the left earbud without using the right side one?????? Which i don't understand why. After some research I found out that they are not even looking to update the firmware to make it happen.

Posted .Hello F1A24- Thank you for reviewing the Jabra Elite 85t. We are thrilled to hear that you are enjoying the overall functionality of the Elite 85t. As you correctly stated, you will only be able to use the right Jabra Elite 85t earbud on its own. To use the left earbud, your right earbud must also be powered on and the two earbuds must be within operating range of one another. While an automatic Left and Right mono-use implementation was feasible on this technology platform, we could not guarantee a consistent user experience across devices and operating systems. For this reason, we decided that it was in our user’s best interest that we remove the feature. Please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything else we can help you with: https://www.jabra.com/supportpages/jabra-elite-85t/100-99190000-02/contact-support#/. Buzzing in right earbud, not dual connect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm on a personal quest to find MY best earbuds and sadly the Jabra Elite 85t does not tick enough checkboxes. This is not to say my best earbuds are going to be the best earbuds for anyone else. In my opinion, the three biggest detractors for these Jabra Elite 85t are annoying buzzing in the right earbud, mono listening in the right earbud only and spotty performance of the Jabra Sound+ app. Starting with the case, the case is fairly small. They aren't as small as Airpods, but still comfortable to carry around in my pants pockets. It is rated for about 4.5 charges of the earbuds. It has a USB C port on the back for charging or you can set it on a Qi compatible wireless charging if you forget your charging cord. There is a single multicolor LED that indicates charging, case charge left and even firmware update status. It also has magnetic closure and magnets to hold your earbuds securely. I recently tried out the Jlab Epic Air earbuds, so I can compare these Jabra Elite 85t against them with ease. The Jabra Elite 85t is slightly smaller and has a shorter ear channel which makes placement into my ears less of a challenge. The biggest advantage I found in the Jabra earbuds is the venting system. This venting system ensures that I don't feel like my ears are plugged as if I'm underwater. In fact, the it takes me a moment or two of listening with the Jlab earbuds to interpret what I'm hearing. Battery life on these earbuds is on the short side with an advertised 5.5 hours of use with Active Noise Cancellation. This can be stretched to 7 hours without ANC. These Jabra Elite 85t earbuds are very comfortable compared to the Jlab earbuds. In the package you get two extra sets of eargels so you can replace the medium size eargels that come pre-installed with a smaller or larger set. The eargels are slightly oval shape to help the earbuds stay in your ear even when shaking your head. The audio quality is where I'm quite disappointed in the Jabra earbuds. When I have the earbuds in, every few seconds, I get buzzing static in the right earbud, it's faint, but it's there and annoying. I tried with two different phones and it's definitely present in both. However, when connected to my PC, the buzzing is gone. The buzzing is easily masked when playing music, but anytime there is a pause, that buzzing is there. Then when I'm in a call, the buzzing is at a different frequency, and constant for the duration of the call, in the right earbud. The buzzing wouldn't be so bad if I could only use the left earbud, but Jabra seems to hold out that if you want mono listening, it's going to be the right earbud only. This means the left earbud is slaved to the right earbud. To get rid of the buzzing, I was hoping that a firmware update would eliminate the problem. So I found and installed the Jabra Sound+ app for my android phone in the Google Play store. Upon opening the app, it takes a while to configure and connect to the earbuds and leads you towards a hearing test. This hearing test can further customize sound levels to match the frequencies you're able to hear. The app also lets you customize the earbud button assignments. But this can all be skipped. Eventually I got to the firmware update. The first time I tried to perform the firmware update, I followed the directions and the firmware update didn't take hold The light on the case flashed purple for a few seconds, turned to green and then stopped. I waited a couple minutes without any further progress and exited the firmware update screen. I tried again and it finally took hold with the purple indicator flashing for several minutes. But alas the firmware update did not resolve the buzzing problem. The app offers the ability to adjust the Active Noise Cancellation and the Hear Through features. The Active Noise Cancellation on these earbuds is good, but not great. It tends to muffle conversations rather than mute them. The Hear Through feature feels fairly natural at medium levels but tends to unnaturally amplify the sounds around you at the higher levels. The app also offers an equalizer to help you customize the sound experience. It includes a few Music presets if you just want to quickly choose a sound profile. Overall the sound experience with these earbuds is very good. They have a 12 mm driver which extends the bass range and deliver a generally wider soundscape than most generic earbuds can produce. Audio is clear and warm. Despite the constant buzzing when on a phone call, audio quality is clear and microphone pickup is very good and delivers clear audio to the other person. The app also offers a Soundscape option. This is useful for when you want to drown out the outside noise with some different white noise choices. Unfortunately this ended up being another place where the app was a little spotty. I was flipping through each white noise choice and some didn’t play. When I flipped away and came back, some would play, but not all. Then when I settled on a choice, and tried to play some of them as my Soundscape option, it sometimes just played the same 3 seconds of sound and repeated. I expect this to be resolved with an app update someday, but the first impression left me with a bad taste. Reading reviews of the previous Jabra Elite generation, I was rather pumped to get the Jabra Elite 85t earbuds. The buzzing in the right earbud, the mono listening in the right earbud and the subpar performance of the Jabra Sound+ app has me disenchanted with the brand and hoping I can find a way to get them exchanged.

Posted .Thank you for your in-depth review of the Jabra Elite 85t, bzm3j81! We are glad to hear you enjoyed many features of the 85t's, such as the fit, audio quality, and design. That being said, we are disappointed to hear about the buzzing noise you experience during calls and while listening to music. Please update your Jabra Elite 85t to the latest version of firmware, which is version 1.27. This update resolved many challenges, incuding music performance improvements and crackling noises during phone calls. To get step-by-step update instructions, we encourage you to check out this support article: https://www.jabra.com/supportpages/jabra-elite-85t/100-99190000-02/faq/How-do-I-update-the-firmware-on-my-Jabra-earbuds-using-Jabra-SoundPlus#/. Additionally, to make the most out of the ANC feature of the Jabra Elite 85t, you are going to want to make sure you have the proper fit with your earbuds. The earbuds should fit snugly in your ears and the eargels should create a seal around the outside of your ear canal. This will, in turn, prevent any ambient noise from getting into your audio stream. Next, you will want to customize the ANC in your Jabra Elite 85t by going into the Headset tab of your Jabra Sound+ app. Then select Personalize your headset> Active Noise Cancellation and follow all of the on-screen prompts. Make sure you are in a noisy environment when customizing the ANC on your Jabra Elite 85t as this will ensure you get the best results. Please do not hesitate to contact our support team at your earliest convenience if there is anything else we can help you with: https://www.jabra.com/supportpages/jabra-elite-85t/100-99190000-02/contact-support#/. Very, Very Good... But Not Perfect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I resisted purchasing "true" wireless earbuds like these for a long time. I already have a few pairs of Bluetooth earbuds and headphones and I figured really, are these true wireless buds that different? But then I tried a pair and realized instantly the freedom from any connecting wires truly makes a difference -- especially now, with mask-wearing required in public for the foreseeable future. After using my regular Bluetooth earbuds (connected by a wire) with my mask a few times I quickly became frustrated. The mask and the connecting wire tangled easily, and removing my mask meant also removing both earbuds. This is less of a problem when stationary, but I use my earbuds mostly when exercising, and having to take them and my mask off together for a quick sip of water is more of a hassle than I thought it would be. After reading numerous professional earbud reviews of Jabra's previous model I decided to go with this new version which seems an upgrade in every way. More powerful drivers, more powerful noise canceling and, importantly for me, a fit designed to let your ear canals breathe while wearing. I really dislike the feeling of earbuds that fit super tight in my ear canals, especially when combined with noise canceling (ANC), as this produces an "ear suck" feeling that I find very uncomfortable. So how do these buds fare? First, let me say they are well-packaged (with very little plastic) and feel high-quality from the get-go. The buds and the charging case are solidly-built while also very compact. The case charges via USB-C or via a wireless charging pad, both of which are very convenient. Jabra includes three sizes of ear tips, all of which are an oval shape as opposed to the usual round. I have larger ears and found the large size tips to be a nice, tight fit while still remaining comfortable. Whatever Jabra did to engineer these buds for comfort really works. Once in I know they're there but hardly feel them; they aren't too tight or too heavy. The buds stay put, too, including through both cardio and weight lifting. I only had to adjust the buds once or twice whereas my other Bluetooth workout buds require frequent adjustment, especially when sweating. Even better, I was able to remove and replace my face mask more than once without removing the buds or even accidently disturbing them. Nice! The buds have the same IPX4 rating as my previous workout earbuds, which have never given me any problems with sweat, etc. Additionally, if you register your buds with Jabra (using their Sound+ app) the warranty for sweat or water damage is extended to two years. I was wary of Jabra's ANC, but let me tell you, the noise canceling of these 85ts is stellar. Not only do they effectively block almost all outside noise, they do so without the discomfort I've felt when wearing any other pair of noise canceling headphones. I am able to wear the 85ts comfortably for hours at a time without needing a break. If you're looking for ANC buds but you're worried about comfort I can tell you these really do hold up to Jabra's claim of no pressure/ear suck. And let me tell you, if you've never experienced a noisy gym with noise-canceling earbuds/headphones, it's a whole other world. Jabra's ANC is very impressive, and I was shocked just how quiet they made the gym. With music playing I was completely isolated from all the noises around me, exercising in my own little world. Very cool. These 85t buds are also compatible with Jabra's Sound+ app, which allows you to tweak a number of settings and personalize the sound signature to your liking. I was pleasantly surprised to find Jabra's "MySound" feature noticeably improved the audio performance over the stock sound profile. MySound uses the Sound+ app to play a series of tones in each ear; you press a button in the app when you hear a tone, much like a professional hearing test. I repeated the test twice and found distinct improvement in sound quality after turning on MySound. This process reminds me of setting up Sonos speakers and I'm pleased to say Jabra's MySound is both simple and effective. So, the 85ts look and fit great, have awesome ANC, a personalized sound profile and a great mobile app... so why only four stars? Even with the right fit and MySound turned on, I was a bit let down by the sound quality. Don't get me wrong -- the buds don't sound bad -- but for the price and all the technology packed into these things, I was expecting better. The sound quality is, simply, good-but-not-great. Music sounds clear and balanced, with an overall comfortable warmth, but doesn't have the "wow" factor I was expecting from such a well-respected company and their newest high-end earbuds. I played with the equalizer in the Sound+ app and cycled through each of the preprogrammed equalizer settings (you can also adjust the five-band equalizer and save your own settings) but for me the best sound comes from Jabra's default "Neutral" preset. Even here, there is a hint of crackling audio from really dynamic songs. Nothing that will make you cringe, but you'll likely notice it. While balanced and, well, neutral-sounding, I expected more than "just fine" audio at this price point. Taken as a whole product, the Jabra 85ts are really great in so many ways, but to be truly "excellent" for me, the sound quality needs to be as impressive as the design, features and ANC capabilities. After all, earbuds are for sound, right? I will say when sitting quietly and working I noticed the just-okay audio more, but when exercising, cleaning or otherwise being active, the just-okay sound is less noticeable and the impressive comfort and noise canceling are more apparent. How you plan to use these buds means you might feel differently about the sound. All this to say: I am very pleased with these buds overall, and they earn their four stars solidly. For me, the Jabra 85t's entirely-decent-but-not-spectacular sound cost them a star. I think if you're paying for top performance, you should get top performance in all categories, but your mileage with these may vary.
