If it weren't for that, I loved them and would have kept them.

You can only use the right ear bud or both ear buds. With this issue, you cannot “stretch” the battery life of your earbuds (wear one until it dies, then pop the other earbud in while the other one charges). The reason for this is that only one ear bud is paired to the phone, the other earbud basically mirrors the other which is why they have to be 8 inches apart for the second one to turn on.

Posted .Hello Scooter- Thank you for writing a review of the Jabra Elite Active 65t. The Left Earbud of the Elite Active 65t has to be in range with the Right Earbud to function properly. The maximum range between the earbuds is 20cm/8in. Please feel free to use the Right Earbud independently. You can play/pause by pressing the multi-function button or by pausing from the phone. If you use the Right Earbud independently, the volume has to be controlled from the phone, and you have to skip tracks from the phone (since you are not using the Left Earbud). The Right earbud is where the Bluetooth connection between your phone and the Elite Active 65t is hosted. The Left Earbud is then connected to the Right Earbud through a different kind of connection (not Bluetooth), and that's why the Left Earbud will not work independently (since it does not have a Bluetooth connection with the phone). Owned for 4 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Jabara elite active 65t where ok for about 3 months,they stop working and pairing ,and left side earbud when completely out,never worked out with them in the outdoors or gym,or had them exposed to water or ever dropped them,they where never used any where but in my bedroom, after this I replaced them under warranty wit geek squad and upgraded to jabara elite 75,like the jabara 75 better,longer battery life on single charge,etc

I tried all 3 sizes of the supplied earpieces but none properly fit my ears. I returned them after the left earbud fell out several times. If they fit your ears they could be a great choice but for me the fit didn’t work. I returned them and got the Powerbeats Pro with over the ear clips. They cost $80 more but stay in place perfectly.
