I was surprised on this one. It was a blind buy and I’m glad I did now. I really enjoyed it and was a fun movie. Looks fantastic on Blu-ray!

This movie was one of the best adventure movies I have ever seen. I feel that this movie was not only funny but also very entertaining.

    Mature Take on Childhood Tale

This movie had some unexpected surprises. It had a more adult-like feel to it, although it would appeal to teens as well. I'm not sure I would show it to pre-teens; the giants and their behavior may frighten some. The special effects crew really brought this one together in a credible fashion, and the plot, while it deed veer here and there from the original story, kept on tack with the overarching tale. The acting was generally good, although Jack's acting sensibility seemed a little out of place for a Middle Ages setting. Not to spoil it for anyone, but if I had a disappointment at all, it was at the very end when we're not told what becomes of the giants after they're "tamed" again. Is a sequel in store to answer that question?

A bit slow in the beginning and the characters were not developed in a way that I cared a lot for them when they were being chased around by giants. The fantasy of the movie had the current feel of things made after 2000, medieval people are dirty and carts and roads are worn, that part they got done well. The graphics at times are more obvious than I'd expect at the feature film level but it isn't a deal breaker. Defiantly a good movie though not great, probably should have rented it instead of buying but not sad I did.

My son talked me into getting this movie. At first I was a skeptic but it's actually a really good, fun movie. I was surprised that I enjoyed the movie so much. Because of the title I thought I knew the movie like the back of my hand but it has twist and turns that made the movie better.

We enjoyed the new version of the old Jack in the Beanstalk story. My husband recognized the lead character as the kid from 'About a Boy' right away. We love the old children's stories and this one did not disappoint. The giants were pretty cool (don't remember more than 1 in the original story). Very entertaining!

I first saw this movie in 2D because I didn't have a 3D setup at the time. I was a fan of director Bryan Singer's X-Men movies and Usual Suspects. I also really like Ewan McGregor, but this movie was just okay. I was able to get a good price on the 3D and it did add to my enjoyment the 2nd time watching it.

Couldve been more, but more than entertaining enough. The visual effects were pretty good. Acting for a movie with this small a scope was better than expected, and that definitely helped keep things interesting. It might be disturbing for some little children as the giants a more than just a bit unfriendly

Buying this movie on sale, I didn't know what to expect, so didn't really come into it hoping for amazing experience or a total disaster. What we get though, is something in between. Movie isn't so bad it's unwatchable, but it's hard to recommend either. Once you get started you will definitely finish as some of the ideas are cool, and for the most part this is the same story we all know and love, just acting isn't the best out there. I wouldn't recommend this movie overall, unless you already have it or watch it for free. It's not a total waste of time, but definitely not something you will tell your friends about either..

Both my wife and I enjoyed this movie. It starts off well and uses the old fairy tale well. Acting is overall pretty good, but a little inconsistent. My only real complaint is that I think they could have done better. The movie ends a little abruptly, but overall it is a good movie.

I was pleasantly surprised at this movie. Very cute with a fresh new cast. Ewan McGregor, Nicholas Hoult, Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane and Bill Nighy were wonderful. The plot wasn't as exciting as I had hoped but it did make for a fun family movie night at home.

Great action packed movie. The action never stops and the acting is superb. The plot is about a poor farmer who get fooled into acepting beans for his horse. He meets a princess and when the beans get wet, a beanstalk to the land of the giants is created. The movie revolves around the giants and how men of meager size try to fight them off. The graphics are great and the storyline is exciting.

I expected something on the low lever of Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters, but this was a much better movie with a more serious, less tongue in cheek tone. Very well done CGI, and some great 3D effects added to the fun.

Got this for a good price and still had the slipcover. The movie is pretty good. Since its a Warner Brothers movie the extras aren't very well. Np theatrical trailer and the digital copy doesn't work with iTunes only Ultraviolet.

Animation was alright I know how hard it is to do things like that it was great movie if it was more of a beginer team working on the Giants. Plot was alright, but it didnt make me want to find out what happens in the eand. and I dont understand why they have to give you 5 different copies for the same movie. I only wanted the 3D version and they give you 5 different copies when you can turn off the 3D so it is 2D but still give you a 2D copy when most 3D tvs can turn that off and on anyway. They need to sell just 3D copies make it easier to afford if they did that and more people would buy them.

If you are looking for a few hours of escape, Jack the Giant Slayer is fun for the whole family. It is an updated visually stunning twist on the classic tale, Jack and the Bean Stalk. The story line is well written, the visuals are great and even the ending has delightful surprise twist (so stay for the credits :)
