Fun & amazing with one personal issue

They are capable of doing so much with all the great equalizer settings & presets they have available through the jaybird app. They sound amazing & are totally worth a 5 star review. My only issue with these... it uses a low quality bluetooth signal... so I'm left wondering how much better they could sound if they used a codec signal that could support HD 24bit audio, like aptx-hd or LDAC. I have other headphones that are capable of an HD audio BT signal & I choose to go to the other headphones when I want detail & clarity from my music. The Jybirds are just more fun by comparison with all the different ways you could tweak the equalizer settings through the app.

    Amazing sound!

I switched to these from the Skullcandy methods wireless and these have proved themselves to put up a fight.. sound quality is amazing and if it isn't for you. You can still customize it to you're preference. The reason I give it 4 stars is it can get quite uncomfortable after a while of wearing them but i think we will all get used to it.. but they do they're job if staying in and not falling out, personally I use them when I go MTB (mountain biking) and I go trough allot of bumpy trail and they've never fallen out since I've got them so they won't fall out anytime soon.. great pair of BT earbuds would highly recommend to any of my friends.

Design Flaw and Horrible Customer Service

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Massive design flaw and horrible customer service! These seemed like an awesome idea but very poor in execution. The first issue I have and what a LOT of people have is that the ear buds do not stay inside the ear tips regardless if they're the foam or rubber ones. The tips are left in your ear while the ear buds are dangling. I contacted jaybird about this via email and told them I already tried replacement tips. Their response what that they will send me replacement tips. This was infuriating because I already told them that sending replacement tips will not fix the issue and I would like a replacement. Mark the customer service rep that responded didn't even read my email. The following day I received an automated response that the case was closed. This was even crazier! Mark didn't even have the decency to respond, he just got lazy and closed the case. I went onto a chat to try to get someone else and they said that they don't cover fit issues. I explained multiple times that it's not a fit issue, they fit in my ears fine, it's a product issue. They just keep repeating that they don't cover fit issues. I would not recommend any jaybird products to anyone due to this big design flaw and incompetence of their customer service representatives.

      Hi Jaybird customer,

We are so sorry to hear of your negative experience with customer support and would love to look into this directly and also help you solve this eartip issue. In fact it sounds to me as you have the original Freedoms, when this is actually the Freedom 2. Slight differences a lot correcting the issues you stated above. The new ear tips and fins are combined into 1 sleek comfortable accessory which completely solves this issue of the ear tips falling off.

Let's do this, could you please contact us with the case # at [email protected]. We will evaluate the entire case and take appropriate action to correct this for you by hooking up these new acc. for the Freedom 2 that should completely solve the original problem you have above.

Please contact us and we will get you taken care of!

    poor fit for me

Setup: Pairing was relatively easy without the Jaybird app. Comfort: I’ve tried all of the provided earpieces. #3 fits the curve of my ear, but the tips are all the same size and too short to provide a good seal for me. The microphone/remote is heavier than other Bluetooth headphones I’ve owned and tend to pull the earpiece out of my right ear (even with the shirt clip and worn "over the ear"). I cannot comment on many of the features that I normally evaluate when reviewing headphones/earphones/IEMs because the fit was too poor. Battery: The battery pack is an interesting idea, but makes the microphone/remote even heavier and impossible for me to keep in my ear. The battery came “60% charged” (voice messages at startup let you know the battery status). Attaching the battery pack turned off the earphones. After attachment, you need to turn the earphones back on and reconnect. Sound Quality: These are not audiophile quality earphones. I could not properly assess the sound signature because I could not get a good seal with the tips provided. The following albums were sampled during my review: • Adam Harasiewicz: Chopin Nocturnes & Preludes • Miles Davis: Kind of Blue

Hey Jaybird customer, We really appreciate your detailed review but it does seem you are running into some fitment issues, this is most likely directly affecting the sounds quality you get from your Freedom 2. As if you do not have a seal in the your ear sound will escape and sound isolation is everything to sound quality. Another suggestion is make sure you are using the mysound app to adjust the EQ settings and you can customize your own sound.

Let's do this contact us [email protected], and we will hook it up with both some comply eartips and regular Freedom acc. pack. This should give you plenty of fitment options to get a consistent and comfortable seal.

    Solid

These headphones are solid upgrade over the original freedom F5s. I really like the new ear tips. I hate jamming buds in my ears and these seal off nicely without having to go super deep in your ear canal. The sound on these is very good. Not quite as good as the X3 but I prefer the tradeoff for the fit. Also, not as good as Bose Soundsports but I've had several of those die on me due to sweat and they are somewhat huge/ugly. Overall sound is above-average for a sports Bluetooth headset. On the sound, these are not bass heavy so I would consider them a bit more neutral than a lot of sports headsets. If you are looking for bass, the X3 or Beats would be a better alternative. I also like the new zip system. I absolutely hated tinkering with the old system all the time. The new system is a bit fussy still but miles ahead of the old system. Overall, these are worth the $150 price tag if you like a balanced neutral/bright sound signature. As between these and the X3, I think it comes down whether you prefer isolation and deep bass versus a more open sounding headphone. As between these and the Soundsports, its a close call. Soundsports sound better but are giant on your ears. These are much sleeker looking with probably 90% of the sound quality. The Freedom 2s seal off outside noise better than Bose.

DO NOT BUY! TOO MANY ISSUES

It has only been about 4 months since I bought my jaybirds, the first time they all of a sudden would not turn on, and I had to be sent a new pair, now these have issues connecting to my laptop or phone. I just would not recommend them at all there are too many technical issues that make the experience not enjoyable, also the heavy battery hanging during your workouts makes them uncomfortable. Just please do not buy, save yourself the money and time trying to contact customer service several times. I wish I could get my money back.

On 4th pair - back to orig freedom or alt brand?

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Seriously disappointed in this new freedom. I really was loyal to jaybird but quality seems to have gone down. I have owned the original freedom and loved them. The company even replaced my first pair when they quit working. When those quit, I was forced to buy a new pair. In comes Freedom 2. I bought the freedom 2 and was having trouble and returned, returned the return after trouble, returned those for problems. Issues have ranged from: - turning off on their own - sound only on one side - audio just dropping This fourth pair in about a 2 month period is now doing the turning off randomly and sound just dropping. Gonna see if it was just a freak occurrence but seriously considering taking these back and trying to get the original freedom or another brand. Really disappointed for the first time in Jaybird and seriously thinking might be time to go with another brand. I use mine at work in IT and love the fact they are wireless and allow on-the-go charging. Will see what happens with them today to determine their fate.

      Hi Ghuff,

We appreciate your positive feedback on the Jaybird Freedom 2's charger design/feature. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing power and audio issues and we'll be glad to help you out! Just send us an email at [email protected] and we will get you taken care of.

Kindly try these suggestions as well:

      1. Move earphones to audio source (i.e. phone, laptop)
      2. Try a different music app
      3. Disconnect audio sources, other bluetooth and 3rd party apps; delete earphones from the Bluetooth list
      4. Try different audio sources/phone (other brands, other OS versions)
      5. Reset * (try this when plugged in and when unplugged)

1.Make sure your buds are powered off.
2.From an off state, press and hold the power button for 8 seconds until the LEDs flash red and green.
3.Double press the power button. The LED will flash rapidly and you should hear a double tone. Your buds have now been reset.

NOTE: When you reset your buds, you will lose any saved presets and any saved devices on the paired list. You’ll need to repair your buds to your Bluetooth device.

Some apps will have their own EQ settings and it is worth checking that these settings don't conflict with what you are trying to set up in Jaybird App. Get in touch with the music streaming app for details on how to access their EQ settings, most will be through the Menu option.

    Defective

I’ve been having major problems with these headphones ever since I bought them around March 3rd of this year. It hardly ever wants to connect to my phone via Bluetooth (as well as other devices), the gum for the earbuds are extremely loose so they keep falling off whenever I take the headphones out of my pockets (causing me to have lost half of the earbud gummies already), and when they DO connect to a device, usually it takes turns on which side (Left or right) would sound lower quality for the day. One side can sound completely fine and the other side wouldn’t work on me and it keeps doing this. This product is definitely not worth the money. At this point you’ll be better off with some apple headphones or dollar store ones at this point cause the quality of this product is not good at all. Worst headphones I’ve owned so far.

    Frustrating Design

    Posted .

I purchased the freedom 2 white , sound quality is good. You have to download the app (another annoying app to keep updating ) To adjust your sound. It does its job Bluetooth cant complain about connectivity. The design of the extra pieces though is a Major annoyance . The ear pieces consistently fall off on the ground , i have ordered new ones through customer care and they easily come off . Numerous times i take it out of its pouch the (that manufacture provides) & the ear pieces come right off rolling on the gym ground , concrete floor, ect and ive had to stop go to the bathroom wash with soap to clean and commence my routine utterrly the worst design !!!!! And don’t let me start with the heavy battery pack that u have to cling to get their “8 hr play”, so i consistently charge at home . All in all these Bluetooth headphones have 4 PIECES . Good luck

Honestly bought these headphones of best buy and they are the worst battery drains sooo fast in one charge of just the headphones probably lasting you 2-3 hours an extend 3 extra after adding the portable charger. The worst part is that the ear buds fall off so easily and even tho they come with extra they still fall of I lost the left side one many times cuz of it from all the extra ear bud sizes. Trying to buy new ones from the Jaybird website and of course for the past 2 months there OUT OF STOCK! SAVE YOUR MONEY THEYRE NOT WORTH IT! Never given a terrible review til now! If I could return these or exchange them I would but its too late.

I was really excited to get some wireless headphones. After talking with two Bestbuy employees I decided on these. After about a month I am not satisfied at all. 1) It is difficult to get them to stay in your ears. 2) The black rubber ear piece fell off of them while I had them clipped to my shirt and now it is lost. 3) Battery life is mediocre. Spend your money elsewhere!
