Definitely a good purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was given a pair of the Jaybird Freedom F5 headphones to test and review. They come with several options to achieve the perfect fit, I wear mine over the ear with the rubber ear piece and fin. I had been using the previous X2 model which I absolutely loved. The Freedom model sound is incredible. I am very impressed with the clarity and bass that it delivers. I have an eclectic range of music and also frequently listen to audio books. I work around loud equipment constantly and have no problem hearing my media at any volume. That includes the motor of the riding lawn mower I ran over the weekend. These headphones have a fantastic battery and the ability to snap the portable battery to add 4 more hours has saved me from silence on multiple occasions. The fit is very secure with running, volleyball, and weight lifting. I would recommend these to anyone who wants great sound with comfort.

An Athletes Best Friend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is nothing worse than the hassle of wires when you are listening to music and working out. They get tangled and ripped out of your ears, which always throws off my focus and motivation. Jaybirds Freedom buds are the best thing to happen to my routine. Bluetooth headphones have turned the volume up (pun intended) on how I workout. They are extremely comfortable and have an amazing sound quality! I highly recommend them. *Disclaimer - I received my Freedom buds for free from Jaybird in order to provide an honest review, which is what I did. In no way was I influenced by Jaybird or their affiliates. It just so happens that I sincerely think these headphone freaking rock!

Great pair of headphones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm one who is constantly looking for a good pair of headphones. I have the X2 and have issues with them staying in my ears well. So with the new design of the Freedom head phones, I decided to take the risk. I was able to get a great fit even without the wings. These fit well whether hanging down or insert so they go over the ear. I ran for 2+ miles and almost forgot I had them in since they are so light. The sound is very good for working out. I used them at work and got over 5 hours before needing to add charge clip. Overall I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Best wireless in ear headphones!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just purchased these jaybird freedom f5 in ear headphones. Construction is solid and high quality. Very small earbuds which is amazing. Once you download the Mysound App and connect it to your ear buds these headphones sound amazing! Great Bass IMHO! No buyers remorse worth the retail price IMHO. The combination of fit and finish i give these a A+. The sound quality is what made me write this review. Awesome!

Excellent Choice for smaller ear canals
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first tried the Jaybird X3. Those are excellent earbuds! But during my workouts, only after about 15 minutes they became uncomfortable. So I decided to give the Freedom a try. WOW is all I can say. These are awesome for me. The sound quality is the exact same as the X3. In fact, I wrote this review while listening to the Freedom. If you can leave them in your ear and forget they are there, then you got some good ear buds. I don't even use the ear fins. I do use the Comply foam ear tips. I was a little concerned about the battery life. However with the additional battery pack, these will go just as long as the X3 8 hour time frame. However, it will have a lot to do with how loud a volume you use. So, battery life is very subjective to usage.

Excellent Headphones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am owner of a Bose QuietComfort 20 Headphones and I really like them but I wanted to have a wireless headphones. Hence, I bought the F5. I did not like the fit of it so I used some of the Bose tips. It worked really well with the cord on the back of my neck providing better sound and a much more secured fit. It really didn't bother me that the weight of the battery made them lopsided since I realize that being lopsided keeps the microphone close to your mouth. The cord of the J5 can be made to fit tightly around the back of the head with the provided clip. I was going to return them but will not. The J5 are excellent. The sound is very comparable to my Bose QuietComfor 20 Headphones plus they have a 3 year warranty from Jaybird. Jaybird even has an application to customize the sound.

So much better than the Bose
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I typically don't take time to write reviews, but felt the need after going through 2 pair of the Bose wireless earbuds in less than 2 weeks. Not only is the sound on the Freedoms by far the best for wireless earbuds (Or wired for that matter) but they are 100% sweat resistant. The equalizer allows you to customize your listening experience depending on the genre of music and produces better low and mid range vs any other earbuds on the market (wired or wireless). All I can say is thank you to Bose for indirectly introducing me to these as the Jaybirds are a must for any athlete/avid runner that builds up a considerable sweat and wants to go wire free. Some say the controls add weight to to the right side of the headphones but I can honestly say that I don't feel that way at all, even with the portable charger attached. Best sound options come with the silicone tips and the ear fins. Although this is my first pair (been a Bose supporter for years), I am hooked on the Jaybirds. I do wish the battery life was slightly extended, but a small price to pay given the SUPERIOR sound quality and customizable options with fit and sound. Like some, I did not receive a free pair to write a review, so this is 100% unbiased.

Not nearly as good as X2
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Frankly I was surprised with the sound quality out of the box. I get that it's a flat curve on EQ to start, but it is so tinny sounding. Even after working the EQ for a while in the partner app (I used to be an audio engineer) I was unable to get the rich sound of their previous generation x2 earbuds. In addition to this, the max volume on this set is a bit lower, presumably to allow the space for the EQ adjustments. The design took some hits too. By putting all the tech (including battery) in the button controller instead of the earbuds it feels like one side of the headphones is weighed down much more than the x2, probably because the weight is further from its anchor (your body). This is exacerbated when you apply the charging clip, which I find to not be a feature since the x2 had 8 hours of battery life without a clip, and now you need the clip to get back up to 8 hours, plus if you don't want to wear the clip but have the option of applying it during your workout, now you have to find a place for this tiny, presumably easy to lose charge clip to carry it around. That all being said, these aren't terrible headphones. Once you set your own EQ they are comparable to a $50-75 pair of wired earbuds, which is great, and will change your world if you're used to using $20 earbuds or those freebies that come with your phone. I just think that the quality of the sound, and design downgrades when compared to their old Jaybird x2 set don't warrant paying an extra $50. Again, that all being said, if ALL you care about is having less weight on your head compared to the x2 set, these could be an option for you as they definitely do shed a good bit of weight, especially without the charging clip, just know that you are losing 4 hours of battery life by not having it. Finally two topics I don't care to add to the review in detail, but are worth mentioning. 1. The packaging is inferior to the x2 buds, the memory foam tips seem cheaper, you don't get the nice hard case for the buds, and all the tips are just shoved in a bag instead of the nice organized foam tray they used to be in. 2. The MySound app is garbage. There are only 2 or 3 usable presets and the others are developed by athletes? Why would you want an athlete to write your EQ curve. How about music artists make your EQ, and by music artists I mean their respective sound engineers.

Impressive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had older wireless buds from Motorola and Plantronics. These are by far the best I have tried. Great sound that you can tune with the companion app, MySound. Best of all, these buds stay on with all sorts of activity and seal out the noise. That said, it will take some work to get everything just right. The effort is worth it, so do not get discouraged. For one, the “Comply” foam buds are meant to be squished in your fingers before you put it in your ears. Once in, hold them in place for a few seconds and they will expand to the shape of your ear canal for a nice tight seal. I didn’t know you were supposed to do this at first, and so my initial impression was not good. Also, shorten the cord using the supplied clips so it doesn’t hang down your neck. Once done, there is no more tugging on the wires when you turn your head leaving the buds in place no matter how active you are. Even with the additional battery clip, the buds stay solidly in place. I never had buds that stayed in place as well as these. I initially thought the bluetooth connection was not good with my iPhone 6 since it kept cutting out as I walked. I then realized that because my phone was in my left pocket, and the headphone bluetooth antenna is in the control pod on the right side of my head, my body was acting as a shield. Moving the phone to the right pocket fixed the problem, but I like it in my left pocket. No problem. The MySound companion app lets you switch the left and right channels. So now I configured everything so that the button pod is now on my left side of my head. Perfect. No more connection drop outs. So as you can see, it takes some configuration, tuning of sound, and adjustments of the wires, but the result is worth it.

Connection issues with multiple devices
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this when they were on sale for $49 from $149. I watched reviews online and was willing to put up with the external battery for the 8 hour charge time. Fully charged I didn't get anywhere near 8 hours of time listening to music. The biggest issue I had was with connection to my phone. (motorola Z2). I have bluetooth in my car as well as a JBL bluetooth speaker. My phone doesn't "skip" or lose connection to those, however, the music would make a "skip" every 5 to 10 seconds on the jaybirds. Returned them and sticking with wired headphones for now, but not happy about having to use an adapter. Tested with my old phone and the skipping issue was there as well. They did sound awesome when they weren't skipping, but the skipping was annoying enough I couldn't use them.

Best Headphones I've Owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been on the lookout for a great pair of Bluetooth headphones for a long time. I don't use them that much for athletics, I use them mostly when I'm working, so I needed a pair that was comfortable, had great sound, held a charge, and were easy to use. The Jaybird Freedom headset does all of that and more. When I opened the box I was immediately impressed with the included materials. I loved being able to try out different configurations of the ear tips and wings. It didn't take long to find a fit that worked perfectly. The buds sit deeply and securely while remaining comfortable. They also do a fantastic job at blocking other sounds. Speaking of the sound, it's outstanding. The bass is deep, the high notes are crisp, and there's all the volume you could ever want. I'm usually a fan of over-the-ear headphones as opposed to earbuds, but these have changed my mind. The only con I've found so far is that it was a bit difficult to pair the headphones to my computer with my Bluetooth dongle. It's not a problem with the headphones, though. I just had a tough time finding the right universal driver. Once I did, they worked perfectly. To summarize, I love these, and I plan on using them as my primary headphones for a long time to come. As a disclaimer, I was provided with a free product for my honest review. As a headphone aficionado, however, my opinions are my own and are not influenced by Jaybird or their affiliates.

Great Bluetooth Headphones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review replaces a previous 3-star review that unfortunately I can't edit or delete. Initially when I tried to wear these wrapped over-the-ear the volume control module flopped around on the right side, and the left side's cable kept moving in front of my ear. Another reader posted a suggestion that I use the included attachable cord adjusters to shorten the overall length. I'd already tried, but the reader included a video link with instructions on how to do it properly. I tried again and got it right. Now I'm in Bluetooth headphone heaven :-) The sound is excellent once tweaked with the companion app. I hadn't realized when I purchased these that I could have them connected to my AppleTV >and< iPhone simultaneously -- now I hear alert sounds or incoming call notifications from my iPhone while watching TV. Wow. Excellent headphones, but they're overpriced. For $150, I'd give them 5 stars, knocked off a star because of the $200 price tag.

Super Buggy Connections
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really, really wanted to love these headphones but the connection on these constantly drop. It renders them basically unusable unless I'm perfectly still, which kind of defeats the purpose of headphones marketed for sports / activity. Based on the positive reviews here, I feel like I probably got a defective unit. Pros: -Lightweight (without battery attachment) -Comfortable fit -The phone app is a great feature Cons: -Super buggy, and constantly drops connection -Any movement and the sound drops, makes it unusable

Buy it!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.By far the greatest working headphones I've purchased, been a fan since the first time I purchased the X2, these are great headphones, the only issue I have is the 4 hour usage then have to recharge it, but other then that sound quality is there, amazing sound, and comfort, but I'm getting the jaybirds X3, because I need more then 4 hours of constant listening without the need of charging in between, jaybirds keep making great products though

These are FIRE!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the X2s back in March and shortly thereafter read about these online and became immediately upset I didn't wait. While the X2s sound great, my chief complaint is the right ear never stays in my ear, regardless of the size. The day these released I purchased them. I must say that the sound is AMAZING as a result of the companion app. I can now adjust the base level! The only problem that I have is the weight of the control, which is heavier than the X2s and pulls on the right earbud, causing it to slightly slip out at times. This is in no way a deal breaker. The ear fit is definitely better than its predecessor. The Freedom is clearly the best pair of earbuds I've ever purchased. FIRE!!

Great Wireless Choice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately my X2s finally crapped out and passed away. R.I.P. X2s, so I went and exchanged them for the Freedoms because I wanted to go with a lighter and sleeker fit. I usually use them in the office and they work great because I don't have to carry my phone with me at all time while going back and forth to the printer. Reason why I am giving them a four is because the battery drains very quickly. I have been using them for about an hour and they are already at 54%. My X2s had a longer battery life. Other than that minor issue I am having with mine, they are great headphones to have for any one using them at the Gym or doing any physical activity.
