Its not worth the cost
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this looking at the good reviews. I got one in Limited edition silver since for some reason they are $100 cheaper than the other colors. I had to return them cause they stopped working in 14 days. I would not buy them again

No bass
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these after my Beats went down. After playing with the equalizer on my phone for 20 minutes, I gave up. No bass and could still hear everything going on around me with them cranked to the max. Returned them at my first opportunity

Doesnt fit my ear properly. Sound quality is meh
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It doesnt fit my ear properly. even my friends tried and everyone faced the same problem. It pains if you squeeze to fit in the ear. And the sound quality is less compared to the likes of Bose, Sony, JBL, etc. Returned the product

Ear buds
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can not keep them in my ears I've tried every combination of tips/fins. I would love these if they were over the ear The charger controller on right ear weights down and poults it out of ear. It's too close to end to put over the ear

Sucks!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tied out the Jaybird headset for two weeks and I hated it. run a lot and it was incredibly frustrating to have the earbuds keep falling out of my ears while I was running. I was also at the gym lifting weights when one of the earbuds fell out of my ear. I also found the sound quality to be very poor. Too much treble and not enough base. Had that your bubs not kept falling out though I probably would've kept it but it that was the last draw. Two weeks was enough time to try it out. I don't recommend it. I ended up purchasing Plantronics and it turned out to be a wonderful product. The sound quality is suburban and it hasn't fallen out once. Also a lot easier to put on.

Functional but Overpriced
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although these headphones function as described, they were grossly overpriced for what they are considering sound quality. Sound quality is certanily that of a lower priced headphone. I held out for AirPods, definitely worth the wait!

Not for me
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to return my purchase after only one day, I have never been able to fit it properly in my ear and I found the controller too heavy and too close to the ear to be comfortable to wear. This is probably a good product but not for me....

Stopped working after just 4 months
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stoped functioning without the charger on it. After just a few months of use, the battery life broke down. Do not purchase these. Save your money for something better.

Died on me
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After less than a month of moderate use at the gym, these completely stopped working. Tried a hard reset and they still wouldn't work. For what these go for, not worth the headache.

Significant fit problems - but fixable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As they come out of the box, four stars. They are small, great looking and have amazing sound if you can get them to fit properly. But with a modification to the earpieces, they can be upgraded to five stars. Let me explain. The included earpieces are, I believe, a major source of the negative reviews (along with the battery charger - more on that later). The standard silicon earpieces come in three sizes, none of which provide an ear seal which will stay put ( at least for me -- either with or without the fins, or worn under or over the ear). While I can achieve an initial seal, the silicon is just too soft to hold its position. Especially if you use these to exercise, your head movement is going to dislodge the earpieces. And the Comply earpieces, also in three sizes, are made of open cell foam and therefore allow way too much ambient sound in, and cannot create a good seal; this essentially eliminates any sensation of bass. As most of you probably already know, a good seal is essential to getting bass on earbuds. For reviews which complain about the sound quality of the Freedom's, I would suspect that the reviewers were never able to get a good seal. With a good seal these can sound amazingly good for the price. By comparison, I also own a pair of Shure SE846's which retail for about a thousand dollars. While the Freedom's cannot match the full dynamic range of the Shures, they do a stunning job for 1/5 the price. And you don't have to be tethered to your phone or tablet, like you do with audiophile quality IEM's. So how do you get a good seal? What the Jaybird Freedom's do not include (or even sell as an option) are memory foam earpieces which you can compress, and then insert in your ear. Once in your ear, the memory foam expands, creating a perfect and durable seal. Almost no ambient noise and a solid fit; they won't fall out while exercising. I made my own memory foam earpieces for the Freedom's by pulling the plastic sleeve out of one of the Comply tips, taking a generic memory foam tip and pulling the plastic sleeve out of it, and then super glued the Freedom's plastic sleeve into the memory foam tip. Viola! Now, should I have to go to all that effort? No. And should Jaybird have provided these memory foam earpieces? Heck, yes. Okay, well after all this creative effort, I discovered that Amazon does have a third party vendor (listed as "Other") which supplies the memory foam tips made just for the Jaybird Freedom F5 - rather pricey - about 20 plus shipping. So that is an available alternative. Again, once you get a good seal, the Freedom's will stay in and they will sound fantastic. Now about the battery module. Yeah, the basic setup only runs for four hours unless you slap on the battery charger which gets it to run for eight hours. Some reviewers have said the battery charger is grossly heavy and is like hanging a AA battery from your ear. "Heavy" is a subjective term. Actually the battery charger weighs in at 0.2 ounces or 6 grams. By comparison, a AAA (not AA, but AAA) battery weighs 0.4 ounces or 12 grams -- double the weight of the battery charger. I do not find I even notice the battery charger when it is attached. It's just not a big deal for me, but you can decide for yourself whether this is a deal killer. Another gripe about the battery charger relates to the fear of losing it. Jaybird does sell a replacement for 25 dollars if you do lose it. I have an earphone carrying case with a secure mesh storage section to hold the charger. Works well, and greatly reduces the risk of loss. I haven't had a problem with malfunction due to sweating, but others have, so maybe that is an issue you should consider if you do intense workouts. A final comment about the sound quality. If you're spending this much money, how these sound should be the number one concern. Like I said earlier, I have a set of the Shure SE 846s. If I want to sit on on airplane for several hours and really listen to music, I am going to use the Shures, not the Jaybirds. I am fussy about my music and have mostly FLAC files and use a high quality digital audio player. That being said, when exercising, or riding a bike, or running through an airport, stringing wires between my ears and the audio player is very inconvenient. The wires get caught on something and the earbuds get ripped out of the ears or the player ends up on the floor. Those are the circumstances in which the Jaybird Freedom's are perfect. They eliminate the inconvenience, and yet they still provide amazing sound. The "My Sound" app which allows you to create custom equalizer profiles and them save those profiles to the buds works really well. I have separate profiles for rock, classical, jazz, and vocals. I am especially amazed by the bass performance or such small drivers. Jaybird has achieved quite a technical feat with these. Jaybird, if you are reading this, get it together and provide memory foam ear tips with the Freedom F5's. Customers should not have to re-engineer a 200 dollar product. Potential buyers, these are worth your consideration if what I have written doesn't seem like too great a hassle for you.

The Freedom simply works. Plug it in and go!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a solid wireless solution for untethered music on-the-go. In full disclosure, I work for Logitech — the parent company of Jaybird — and I did not pay for my unit. I'm also the Sales Director for Ultimate Ears Pro — manufacturers of $1000+ custom earphones. I have a pretty high bar as far as audio quality goes. I make my living selling and listening to audio devices from every manufacturer out there so while this review has all the markings for inherent biases, it also has the potential to offer some informed opinions. You decide how you want to take it. The first thing that I noticed is the packaging. The display is wonderful. The Freedom comes with plenty of fit tip options. I'm not a huge fan of the honeycomb wings and I was initially skeptical and I had to fiddle with them for a bit in front of the mirror but once I got them situated, the fit is VERY comfortable and once set, it doesn't fall out, jiggle, or move around. This is critically important because anytime you put sound in your ear — as opposed to headphones or earbuds that sit on the outside of the ear/ canal — any time you seal your ear the quality of the seal and fit affect the sound. If the canal phones move, your sound quality changes. By using the winged locks, you can use a smaller fit-tip which alleviates undue pressure on your ear canal. That avoids the "hot" or "itchy" feeling that you get with other buds that need canal fit tips. On to the Bluetooth functionality. I've never been one to feel hampered by wires and I have to admit, I never really saw the need for Bluetooth but now that I have it and have been playing with it, I like it. It's convenient. It's nice to just get up and go. The signal is powerful. I have to go downstairs and around a few walls before degrading the signal. The phone quality is good. Not perfect but solid. I sounded a bit less than speakerphone and the caller sounds a little processed. I'm using an iPhone 6s and I would have preferred that the phone automatically answered via the Freedom. It defaults to the phone and I need to choose Freedom. These are little things — the bigger picture is that it is super simple and easy. That leads to my biggest point. The system just works. It's a great user experience. I've played with so many ok set ups and kludgey devices that you bear with and make work but why? How can so many manufacturers miss the most crucial part — USABILITY. The Jaybird Freedom works the minute you open the box. No bugs. No glitches. Just turn it on and go. And then forget about it. I love that. The device quickly fades into the background and disappears. And that's exactly what you really want. You want something that looks good. Sounds good. That adds real value to you. And then just stays in motion. To really back up that last statement, we have to talk about the battery life. When I say it just works and you forget about it, I'm talking about charging too. The last thing I want to worry about is charging yet another device. And the battery life on this is just awesome. I left it on the table at home for a few weeks when I was traveling recently and I came home, turned it on and it was still ready to go. Sound-wise — I'm really surprised. The housing and form factor are SMALL. But the sound is full and big and prominent. It definitely delivers on audio. It's not knock your socks off but it is good enough for me, an audio snob, to give it a really nice head nod and recommendation. With all the devices that I have and have access to, this is now my on-the-go wireless earphone solution and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs mobility and seamless functionality. I'm happy to answer any specific questions related to any of the above mentioned topics. I'm easy to find online. Just reach out and ping me if I can help offer any more clarity. Thanks, Mike Dias

Won't stay
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried many tips or wings, but won't stay. The remote is too heavy and pulls out the right piece as I jog. I used to use x2 and stayed on. I am giving up on this. Not recommended if you run.

Disappointing Earbuds
