I have been using Jaybird since they came out with the Bluebuds X and have owned those , the X2,X3, Freedoms F5 and the 2nd gen ones and now these and these are the best. the wings are way better IMHO. they do sound the same as the X3 or at least a negligible difference. The comply foam tips that come included work great as well

The sounds quality and software are fantastic. Unfortunately it didn't fit my ears comfortably no matter which attachment I tried. But for most people they will be great I think.

Purchased these as an early Christmas present for myself. I had an earlier pair of Jaybird freedoms prior to these ones. These are a nice upgrade and addressed a lot of the complaints that I had with the old Freedoms The new cord is lighter weight and the battery is less bulky, which is nice. I think the older freedoms had a little better audio quality, but these ones still arent bad at all. I was able to use the Jaybird app to tweak the EQ to something that I enjoyed. Packaging was very well put together and the accessories the headphones come with are a nice addition. Would recommend again

this is my first set of "wireless " earbuds. I went back and forth for weeks deciding which ones to get. The salesman completely sold me on jaybird and said he loved the x3 so I figured the x4 would be great. straight out the box they paired easy and fast and the sound quality was really good. stayed in my ear during a fairly heavy workout and just bumming around. comes with 3 sizes of buds and fins, kind of a pain trying to set it all up and watching the video in the app wasnt very helpful. still haven't found the right setup that is completely comfortable. after about an hour they start to hurt. Other than that things were great until just randomly the right bud started cutting in and out when I'd turn my head. playing with the cord affected it to. not happy at all, lifespan of a week?! Lame

      Hello tinks,

We appreciate your positive feedback on the Jaybird X4's seal, ease of use (pairing) as well as the sound quality. We are sorry to hear that they hurt your ears and we'll be glad to help you out! Just send us an email at [email protected] and we will get you taken care of.

For future reference, you can try these suggestions for secure fit:

      1. Test over-ear/under-ear fit
      2. Test all combinations of eartips and wings, including different sizes in each ear
      3. You may view the instructional video on this link:

      http://www.jaybirdsport.com/support/

Furthermore, if one size hurt your ears with prolonged use, that is an indicator that you're not using the right size.

For those of you who like wordy reviews, read on. Otherwise, the take home is as follows: though they sound good, the X4s (and X3s for that matter) simply do not hold up under the usual sweat/wear/tear that come with the territory of exercise. The lengthy summary: I originally purchased a pair of X3s in February 2017 from Best Buy. They sounded great, and for use on long runs and at the gym, there's no doubt that wireless headphones are far more convenient than wired options. However, they simply did not last. As a marathoner, I put a good amount of miles (and sweat) into the products I use; it goes without saying that the headphones would see some sweat as well. Unfortunately, I have now gone through 4 pairs of X3s and 1 pair of X4s in the span of 2 years and 2 months. The X4s in particular lasted a mere 5 months before developing an irritating fizzing sound in one ear. For headphones that claim IPX7 waterproofing, take it from me, it simply isn't true. Sadly, all of my Jaybirds have gone the way of the dodo and expired... within a matter of months of ownership. Jaybird, for what it's worth, has graciously extended my warranty from Feb 2017 until now, at which point I got an amusing email stating "Base[d] on the info you provided it is safe to say that your headset is defective enough to have it replace. Unfortunately your Jaybird is no longer under 1 year warranty according to your records. I regret to inform you that the replacement does not carry a warranty. The reason is that we can only make sure you have a working device within 1 year from the time when you purchase your original Jaybird headset. This might be a good time to purchase a new one. You can check out our new headset models at https://www.jaybirdsport.com/en-us/shop.html." Lol. Thanks but no thanks, I'll look elsewhere for headphones that actually last.

      Hello Nick,

We are sorry to hear that the Jaybird X4 stopped working and we'll be glad to help you out! Just send us an email at [email protected] and we will get you taken care of.

Please try these suggestions that can help to resolve the issue of your headset:

      - Computers are the best and safest method, as is anything 1 AMP or less.
      - Try a different power source/charger
      - Car chargers produce a much greater power supply and should be avoided.
      - Over-charging the battery will quickly reduce the life of the headphones, so in addition to monitoring the power supply, limit the charge time to 2 hours,
      - To get the most out of your battery it is recommended to charge the buds when the low battery status is indicated.
      - Avoid charging your headphones after exposure to sweat.
      - Make sure charging port/cradle is clear of any debris.

    Not that Great

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My main issue with these headphones is that they don't stay in my ears. If I turn my head to the left the wire pulls the right headphone out of my ear and vice a versa. Also, the silicone tips pop off easily and I've lost a few. I had to contact Jaybird for replacements, which they sent me free of charge. The wire telegraphs the sound of the wire rubbing against my neck making them noisy. The voice notifying you of low battery power is loud and annoying. There's an extra little cable for charging which is somewhat goofy. It would be better if USB-c plugged in directly.

    Same issues as everyone else

So I'm here writing my review 2 months after I started having the issue of my left earbud's sound coming and going. I've tried EVERY fix after doing a Google search of the same issue. The thing is, this is my 2nd purchase of THESE same earbuds -- my 1st pair worked great for about 5 months but I misplaced them. So I bought another pair, and 3 weeks later I found my original pair. Since I've been having the sound issues with this 2nd pair I started using the 1st pair I bought and guess what? Yes, the sound comes and goes on that side too!! These have EXCELLENT sound quality --- I migrated from the Bose non-wireless earbuds because I didn't want to pay the money for the Bose truly wireless. You get what you pay for. Don't buy!!

    Hollow sound

I purchased these after reading very favorable reviews. The sound for these was very hollow, even after adjusting via the equalizer in the app. They do fit nicely in the ear and are quite light, but the sound did not compare to the wired Apple ear buds I was trying to replace. I returned these for the Bose Soundsport Wireless headphones which were much better for me in terms of sound.

    Great until you sweat

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I received the X3s as a gift and started to see some issues with the headphone on the side with controls after using them running a few times. I tried to deal with it to see if the sound would return to normal quality, which it didn’t. The battery also stopped holding a charge for more than a couple hours so I contacted support and they sent me a new pair of X4s. I was really excited. After running for a couple months in these, the headphone on the side with the controls lost all bass sound, is quieter overall, and sounds distorted. The headphones were great until I sweat in them and I think the sweat got into the controls and ruined the sound on both pairs of headphones that I used. I won’t be buying from jaybird in the future after having two pairs of headphones fail after wearing while running - something they advertise that you will be able to do.

We're sorry to hear that the Jaybird X4 lost audio on the right side and we'll be glad to help you out! Just send us an email at [email protected] and we will get you taken care of.

Please try the following to resolve the issue of your headset:

      1. Put your buds in pairing mode. Turn the buds off, then press and hold the Power Button for more than 4 sec until you see alternating red/green LED.
      2. While the LED is flashing red / green double press the Power Button.
      3. The LED will turn orange and your buds will turn off.

Isolate the issue by testing with a different device or a device with a different OS and checking your device's equalizer settings.

    Jaybird vs JBL

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I listen: Podcast, Music, Audiobook (Music> Electronic>Trance and subgenres) How often I use: Everyday around 7-8 hours Ear size: tiny (small) I used to have JBL mini and I used them ~ 3.5 years. For a change I bought PLT headphones and Jaybird X4. Specifically Youtube tech influencers were saying all the good things about X4 (they preferred X4 over Tarah Pro) so I said why not!. My experience: 1. Ear pain. I was using the smallest buds yet the pain was unbearable. 2. Unexpected Disconnections for no obvious reason. (sometimes 10 times in a minute) 3. Battery life is definitely lower than 6 hours. 4. The part with the buttons is heavy and pulls the left cable, it is very annoying to pull the left cord over and over again to balance it out. 5. Sound quality is not significantly different than JBL at least for the music that I am listening. Volume can go higher than JBL. 6. I did not see any benefit over using the app. Conclusion: Disappointed. I am returning the product.

    Very Disappointed

I had a jbirdX3 that I used for about 2 years. The battery life was great, about 7 to 8 hours of constant use without an issue. It was damaged and I had to replace it. The X4 is just not up to the same standard. I get maybe 1:45 to 2 hours of time before I get the 20 percent warning after an overnight charge. Totally unacceptable. I tried to return them to Best Buy and they refused the return, told me I had to deal with the manufacturers warranty. I have owned this headset for less than 30 days as of today and it's just not working. I also get allot of background noise from the microphone rubbing on shirt collars. Never happened with the X3. What happened? As far as Best Buy is concerned I will not be shopping there again. Hello Amazon.

Systemic Quality Failures in 6-9 months

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Following exhaustive testing from 2 separate units, the connectivity of the headphones exhibits hardware failures within around 6-9 months. The headphones now will typically disconnect within 15 minutes and exhibit a hardware issue, where the audio will lag on power up and shutdown without notification without communication to a 3rd party device. I would strongly recommend NOT purchasing Jaybird products. USAGE DETAILS: As I have had 2 pairs fail in exactly the same way with no support from Jaybird, I suspect there is a systemic quality issue with Jaybird headphones that they refuse to acknowledge. *The lifetime from my experience to be around 144 hours (based on 4 hours of usage a week for 36 weeks (9 months), the approximate usage between both of my pairs). RECOMMENDATION: *If you are a moderate to active fitness person, I would strongly advice against Jaybird. *I previously used Motorola headphones, which lasted 2-3 years (and cost less than Jaybird) *The cost per MSRP usage for the Jaybird headphones are around $1 per hour of usage - at that rate, I'm likely to buy a "budget" pair of headphones, as even if they brake in 6 months, they'll still be a better value than Jaybird. TROUBLESHOOTING THAT I HAVE PERFORMED: 1) Performed a hardware reset as detailed at: https://support.jaybirdsport.com/s/article/Perform-a-Factory-Reset 2) Upgraded the firmware as instructed with the update tool at: https://www.jaybirdsport.com/en-us/jaybird-support/jaybird-freedom/firmware/jaybird-freedom-windows-firmware-update.html 3) Tested with another device.

    Great headphones when they work

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

These headphones are fantastic as long as they last. I have now had 2 pair of X4 headphones that each have only lasted 4-5 months of daily workout use. Both times the pair will work for a few months but then begin to quickly die after a charge and within a few weeks no longer hold a charge at all. This is very frustrating since a lot of the hype is based around the IPX7 rating and their "sweat proof" standard. I love the sound quality and design but can no longer see past the very poor quality. Before trying the X4 I had owned 2 pair of the X3 headphones. These worked well but also broke after about a year each time so there is a clear trend with Jaybird headphones. I wanted to try to the X4s because the sound is better than any other pair I have tried and was hopeful to have a durable pair. Since this was not the case I plan to move to a different brand that is better able to handle sweat and last more than a few months. PROS sound quality good fit ability to control EQ from app easy to control with button row CONS don't last short charging cable proprietary charging cable

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

For the price I was expecting better bass but the quality was as good as my $5 wired headphones that I use as disposable because of my line of work. I downloaded the app and tried the presets and my own setting but it didn't make a difference. If you don't care about bass then it might be for you. I don't know if they were defective or not but I went ahead and exchanged them for a pair of wireless in-air Bose headphones. The difference was night and day but I did pay $20 more for the bose.
