Great Sound. Better Than All In This Price Class
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased the Samsung 2.1 soundbar. While it was decent (and it sounded better in the store...be careful as I learned afterwards the Samsung in the store was also using some other speakers to help the sound---I think additional surround speakers). Anyway, I returned the Samsung soundbar the next day. Now, I get that it was a 2.1 and this JBL is a 3.1 system. I think the biggest difference in the 2 systems is the amazing subwoofer that comes with the JBL. It is just room rattling power. You can with the included remote turn up or down the sub's bass in 30 increments all displayed on the digital display neatly hidden in the sound bars speaker (this in itself is very cool). You can also choose from different modes (movie, voice, music, etc) on the sound bar via remote. You can turn on surround which sounds great while watching a movie. I can't see how anyone could be disappointed with this sound bar setup. Now, this isn't on my main TV in the family room. For that, I am using a large Def Tech system with a huge subwoofer and subs in the center channel and it's just a crazy overdone system (which sounds fantastic but my point is I know great sound when I hear it). I can't see spending over $1000+ for a soundbar and at that point you opt for the separate components and build a surround sound system. But, at the current sale price of $399 and when I purchased at $499 I think you'd have a hard time finding a better system. JBL is a company I have used for over 30 years going back to my home speakers in the mid 70's and car speakers not too many years after that. They primarily build great sound. Trust me and get this system, you won't be disappointed!

Finally!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a journey I had with getting a sound bar. A few months ago I bought a new tv and wanted to replace my small outdated soundbar. I did quite a bit of research and found an LG SH7B at a great price. I had it for awhile and it was better than my old Sony but not great. The sub started cutting out and their customer service was not good son I decided to return it and look for something else. I spent a couple days doing more research and got it down to Klipsch rsb-11, Polk Magnifi Max and this JBL Bar 3.1. I tried the Klipsch first and absolutely loved the sound. Everything was so clear and well defined. All went great until that night when I lowered the volume after the kids went to sleep and I heard a hissing/static noise coming from the bar while sitting about 10ft away. It wasn't anything super crazy but enough to drive me crazy. I bought a surge protector with "clean power", unplugged everything except the power cord and changed outlets. Nothing helped so I returned it and got a replacement. That had the same issue. I went to the Best Buy store and heard the same noise and also showed the salesman. I contacted Klipsch and they are saying it's normal. Now I know it's normal to hear noise from speakers but that's only when you are real close to it. Hearing it from 10 ft away while watching tv is not by any means normal. Others have complained about the same issue. It has good reviews for the most part so I'd say most people always keep their volume up, don't notice it or just don't get bothered by it. It bothered me so much I couldn't deal with it even though I'd say it's the best sound bar I have ever listend to. Finally I ordered the JBL and I now have a great sound bar. The sound is close to Klipsch, not quite as good but it has lows (more than any other sound bar I have heard) mids and high, all well defined and clear. Best of all, no hissing/static noise.

Amazingly Awesome Soundbar!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love it when I buy something and it exceeds my expectations. This JBL - 3.1-Channel Soundbar System with 10" Wireless Subwoofer did that. It blows my mind how good this system is. I was looking online for a system for weeks and because I have a new 65" Samsung TV I really wanted to buy a Samsung soundbar but after reading the reviews I didn't want to spend $1300 to get what I wanted from a sound system. Also my TV remote turns the volume up like its part of the TV. Do yourself a favor and check this system out. You wont regret it! There is a reason it has such a high review raring.I was not paid to write this review. The product is so amazing you will want to tell people too.

Good system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced old TV with a new LED 4K ultra but needed a sound bar to make up for the poor TV sound. Had a JBL home theater that died, too. Compared sound bars in the store and this one clearly stood out. Best features are the preset surround sound options. The Voice mode does a great job of raising dialog above the overwhelming music common in most movies and shows. The only con and it is a small one is that you can't add rear speakers and you can't adjust the cut in frequency of the subwoofer. Both are minor but sufficient to give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Sound is quite spectacular!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not expert, but I am a videographer and video editor, so I do know something about good video and good sound. I went through hundreds of reviews for this JBL 3.1 Soundbar with Subwoofer, and it's competition available at Best Buy, including the Magnolia Store. I listened to more than a dozen soundbars and listened to my final 5 again that made my short list. I ignored the sales person who wanted me to get in on the deal of saving $200 on a Sony 2.1 Sound bar with 11" Subwoofer, just because I was buying an eligible TV. I trust JBL, so I got the one I wanted. I just had it installed 1-30-18 with my new Sony TV [review coming as soon as DirecTV shows up to add my HD 4K receiver] and I must say that I am extremely impressed with this speaker system's tonal qualities. I have no problems whatsoever hearing a proper mix of highs, mediums, and lows with the sub-woofer. Want more bass for that action flick, turn it up and shake the walls. Need it to be more timid because the wife's in bed asleep, adjust it accordingly. No fuss, no muss. I replaced my 2004 $3700 JBL 5.1 surround sound and 12" sub with this JBL sound bar and 10" sub - it is amazing how well it "throws" the sound as though it's behind you - I literally was looking over my shoulder! No, I won't say it is exactly the same as the 5.1 system, but if it's a step down, it not a very big step. This soundbar was put in an 27' by 18' media room, and you can hear it just fine from every corner. I will note that the subwoofer is very, very effective for such a small package, and easily controlled. I'm thrilled with the purchase - and saved $100! It's on sale. Don't think about it - if you're in the market, and if you know JBL, make the purchase! You won't regret it.

Amazing Sound and Easy Setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have only owned this soundbar for 24 hours and so far I am impressed. I am still testing it out but here are my observations. 1 Very easy set up. It took me longer to unbox the soundbar then to set it up. It took less than 5 mins, I used the ARC port on my TV which recognized the soundbar immediately. The sub paired perfectly. My Samsung TV remote was able to control the volume without having to pair it. I did however have to pair my cable remote to the soundbar which was easy to do. 2 To test the soundbar I used an episode of a Netflix series and for a movie Avengers Infinity War. Finally I watched a couple of innings of a baseball game. The sound was amazing for both the show and movie. My bass was set on 17 and it was shaking the room. The sound felt as if it was coming all around me, just like a movie theater. Best part was the dialog was very clear throughout even during action sequences. 3. This soundbar comes with 5 sound enhancing settings Standard/Music/Movie/Voice/Sports. In Standard mode both the movie and show sounded excellent. Halfway through the movie I switched to Movie mode. The only difference between movie and standard in my opinion is the bass is more pronounced. For the baseball game I switched to Sports Mode and could not hear any difference than from Standard. So for me, I am likely just going to leave it on Standard which is the default setting. There is also a night mode setting which is suppose to lower the sound and bass, but I have not tried it yet. 4. Bluetooth pairing with my smartphone was very easy. I only quickly played a song just to test it worked but have not tried different types of music to see how the soundbar performs. I did a lot of research before purchasing and at this price point and sound quality you getting one of the best soundbars on the market.

Great sound but buggy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to love and keep this setup. Unfortunately I’m already returning a second one. The sound was great and very clear. Bass was punchy, voice came out clear, music sounded good which is rare on sound bars. I first bought it because of the reviews and liked how it had 3 inputs all supporting 4K since my original had 1 input supporting 2.2 hdcp. At first I noticed slight bugs that I brushed off, nothingthat turning off and back on wouldn’t fix or a reset. Woofer would disconnect, no audio through ARC. A few months passed by then the reset fix it would not fix the issues anymore, woofer became staticky with interruptions as well, had to repair it manually each time we turned it on, Bluetooth no longer synced, tv no longer picked up ARC, and remote control operations became buggy as well by it copying the last command three times before doing what you actually pressed it to do. I owned the first one for about 6 months so I called JBL, they went over troubleshooting for a good while even though I kept explaining to the tech that I had done all those steps. He finally gave me a green light to send in for a warranty claim and repair. I informed him I bought Geek Squad protection and told him I could just go Best Buy. He kept insisting that I was no allowed to do so before going through JBL first. So he was going to send me a mail label and instructions through email. I waited 1 hour so without anything so I figured I call back, I figured maybe he got my email wrong but then the new rep I got very rudely responded that they had the email right and that the rep already sent it and to look through my folders which of course I already did. He didnt bother with a “I’ll resend it.” I gave them a day and never received anything but received a warning email a week later saying I have had no progress and they would close my ticket out. I gave up and went to Best Buy the next day. Geek Squad took care of me and said to wait a few weeks. BTW I asked if what JBL told me was true and quickly told me that they were wrong. Geek Squad decided to replace my unit or get something else. Again, the sound is AMAZING and the inputs were a huge plus so I decided to give them another shot. I’ve had it for 10 days and I’m already getting a few of those quick fix issues I had with the other. This time I’m boxing it back up and trying something else. It may have just been bad luck and just gotten two bad units but sorry I will not give them a third try. If you decide to move forward with them I HIGHLY recommend getting the extra protection because JBL customer service sucks. I wished they worked though as it had a really great sound which is I still give a 3. Hopefully you get a working set so you can enjoy its sound

All the bass you could possibly want
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been enjoying this system for a couple of weeks now. This is to compliment my new Samsung 65" MU8000 tv I bought last month. Setup was fairly easy. It took a couple minutes for the tv to acknowledge the sound bar and send sound. Once it did, it detected the subwoofer automatically. When comparing sound bars, I am surprised the manufacturers don't emphasize the importance of 4k pass through and why it matters. Case in point, I went to the store dead set on getting a Samsung sound bar since I read that I would be able to control the soundbar with the remote that came with my Samsung tv (one remote replaces the many) automatically. Reading the reviews, I thought I would get the 550 Samsung with the surround speakers(additional cost). I went to the sound bar display and found a lower model Samsung(350 or 450) and it sounded ok.....bass was not quite what I wanted. Then I listened to this JBL and it blew me away. I noticed that the Samsung had one hdmi input and the JBL had 3. I didn't understand why I needed that and would just use Bluetooth. I found a salesman and asked to see the 550 Samsung, since I didn't see it. It was connected to a tv in another area and I listened. It was good....not as much bass, but decent. So I asked him if I would have to manually connect the JBL over Bluetooth every time I turned on the Samsung. He educated me and said that's not the best way to do it because Bluetooth wont support Dolby Atmos. He told me to run all devices to the HDMI ports on the sound bar and run one to the ARC HDMI port on the tv. I realized id be limited with the Samsung I was looking at since it had one HDMI input compared to the 3 on the JBL. Doing it this way gives the best sound, I control it with the tv remote, and watching Game of Thrones looked even better. I attribute this to the tv processing video but leaving audio to the sound bar. The sound bar sounds clear and as loud as I want. The Sub hits low frequencies hard. Watching Force Awakens, Last Jedi, Predator, Game of Thrones and the Fast and Furious movies have never sounded so good and realistic. Only option that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that it does not appear to be able to add surround sound speakers to it.

There's too many issues to ignore for that price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.POSITIVE FIRST, this produces incredible low end bass - enough to shake the walls! It's great to play music as that sub packs a massive punch. I fell in love with bass thumping power but was highly impracticable for home theatre. Where it FAILS - first it has little to no mid range so when watching movies or tv all you get from the sub is overpowering low end frequencies (like an explosion, slamming of a book on a table or door etc). There is no way to increase the mid range either so you feel a huge gap missing in the sound most of time. Not Ideal for watching movies or tv shows. Next is the MOST ANNOYING auto wake function. Unless there is sound being played the bar will sleep instantly. So flicking through any streaming service is a nightmare. It will sleep between scrolling a title to watch and wake up when the title auto plays its little trailer. Or for example when typing, it'll sleep after each click sound of a key then wake with the re wakeup with next... just stay on! And no there is no setting to change this. Another complaint is that the remote feels cheap and is HIGHLY unresponsive due the receiver being tucked behind the mesh of the bar, so be prepared for some arm Olympics to get the bar to respond. (One guy on YouTube even drilled a hole into mesh to get it to work better) I tried hard to love it but I had to return it and go back to the soundbar brand I know and trust. That low end frequency is amazing but overpowering and not suitable for my neighbours. And those little bugs eventually get highly annoying!
