    Great Clean Sound

I’ve only owned this for 24 hours but I was impressed from the moment I plugged it in. The sound quality is phenomenal and the bass is so clean. I tested it with live sports, a video game, and a military movie with lots of explosions. It did not disappoint. I’ll update my review after a few months of ownership but so far so good!

Love this soundbar. Sounds good and easy set up to my Sony 4K tv (ARC). The best part might be using the bluetooth (also easy to connect) and playing music with my phone. The bass on this thing is absolutely ridiculous. I have this in a pretty large room and the sound is always clear and fills the room.

The sound from this bar is fantastic. Easy to set up. The biggest issue with this sound bar is that it constantly switches to PCM mode if what you're doing drops sound at all. It then takes 1 to 2 seconds for the sound to switch back on causing you to miss whatever was said during that time. No amount of settings fix this and this is the only sound bar i've used that does this. Looking around forums and everything, it appears that this is a known issue with JBL sound bars that they seemingly refuse to fix. So if you enjoy missing the first couple seconds of the content your watching when flipping channels, scrolling through YouTube, etc... then this is the sound bar for you!

I have a klipsch rsb-11 in my living room right now but I wanted to have more bass because my room is pretty large. I bought this sound bar because It had a 10 inch woofer the bass this thing produces is awesome it sounds so good it’s deep you can actually feel the bass in your chest. The downfall to this system is the bar itself. There is practically no mid range in the system. I would have to continually adjust the volume just to hear the voices and then turn it down because the treble was so high at certain times. The surroundsound option seems like all it did was raise the volume a little bit more this caused the treble to be to high. My wife at one point said it sounded like everyone was talking with their nose plugged. The bar is definitely better than having nothing at all. So although I did not have good luck with it I still think the sound bar is a good choice for someone coming from only TV speakers or an old system.

I love watching movies and my TV sound wasn't cutting it.... I wanted to purchase a high end receiver with all the bells and whistles but I'm hardly ever home and just did not want to pay so much for something I hardly use. The JBL sound bar sounds great and the set up was a breez...

I got this to replace a similarly-priced LG soundbar and am very glad I did. The LG lacked any bass whatsoever. The JBL offers it in spades. I should note that your opportunity to tweak the sound is very limited, which it seems to be with most sound systems today. You can increase or decrease the bass volume and that's about it. There's no way to tweak the midrange or treble. How hard would it have been to provide EQ for this? Your only option is to choose from the provided presets "Movie," Sports," "Voice," "Standard" and "Music." And you have to turn up the volume to really appreciate any difference between them. HINT: "Music" is useless; if you want to enjoy your music played through the JBL, pick "Movie" or "Standard." For some reason, the "Music" setting trims the bass substantially. I like the 3.1 as it makes dialogue easier to understand, although it's a bit shrill. Again, having control over mids, lows and highs would have made this a near-perfect system.

I love this system a lot. The only problem I am having with it right now is that one of the speakers has static in it, but the system has been well taken care of and professionally installed in my bedroom. I believe it might have to do with a grounding issue. If not, I will be returning this product or contacting JBL directly to resolve this issue. Besides the one issue I have, setup was easy. The subwoofer took some time to figure out, but once it was contected there has been no problems. I even installed the latest update from JBL directly that fixed the issue of delayed sounds from the connected device. For example, when scrolling through menus, there would normally be an audible sound, but with audio being played through the bar, it would cutoff or be delayed. I'm happy that JBL pushed this update out to their customers. I hope they continue to improve upon an already fantastic home theater system. 2 thumbs up!

Great Sound/Bass/Ease of Setup, One Complaint

Love the sound, the Bass is Great, design is nice. Really like that my Sony TV remote not only synced with this sound bar but also my Apple TV so the only time I need to use more than one remote is when I want to adjust the bass. That said I have one complaint about the sound bar and if anyone else has experienced this or has a solution let me know. The sound bar speakers make a popping noise every time it shuts down. I’ve tried muting the sound bar/turning the volume down to 0 before shutting it down and there is still a large popping noise as it enters standby mode. I’m afraid the speakers will eventually get damaged by this so any help would be much appreciated. It also seems to do this scrolling through certain apps on my Apple TV. Other than that great purchase.

    Remote is it’s biggest downfall

I had this Soundbar for 14 days but ended up returning for the Polk magnifimax. Cons: I could not stand how insensitive the remote was. Literally had to point and reach towards the bar for it to work consistently. Voice clarity was also lacking, I found myself turning up the volume to hear dialogue better and then it would be way too loud for the next action scene. Tuning is lacking. Pros: The bass and highs are amazing! Overbearing at times while watching kid shows for my daughter. If you’re looking for a Soundbar to use for mostly music then this is the one for you.

I am totally blown away with this sound system. Sounds like i'm in a movie theatre. It took me a while to figure out how to pair the sub but after a while its a breeze. I sampled the tv speakers with this 3.1 set up and it is night and day. You could go with the 5.1 system but you would need a bigger area for it to be of any use. The 3.1 is ideal for any living room. If you can afford to step up to a 3.1 - by all means check this bad boy out!

Save yourself a lot of time and research...just buy the 3.1 JBL soundbar and be done with it. You must buy it, take it home, hook it up and play a movie, music video, etc. and then feel the smile come over your face as the bass kicks you in the gut. It's just silly that a soundbar can make you feel this way. I spent way too much time listening to sound bars at the store and buying and returning both the 2.1 and 3.1 Samsung soundbars (don't buy a Samsung; complete waste of money unless you don't want ANY bass). Spend a little more money and I promise you won't be disappointed with the 3.1 JBL.

Traded in Sony 2.1 for this JBL 3.1

I was having all kinds of audio sync issues with the Sony 2.1 model that I originally bought. The audio was behind the video and was visibly noticeable and driving me crazy. I was using the ARC connection, which is supposed to be the best quality. I tried other options (optical) and still the same problem. The TV speakers were working fine if I unplugged the sound bar. After hours of troubleshooting, I decided to return the Sony 2.1 to Bestbuy. My main requirements is that the replacement sound bar had an ARC connection. When I set up this new JBL 3.1 system, I could immediately see that the sync issue was solved. I changed nothing else other than the sound bar from a Sony to this JBL. The JBL was a little more expensive (I got the Sony on sale), but very worth the extra money. The JBL remote and display on the sound bar is much better than the Sony and has a text display to tell you what modes are configured. Would definitely recommend this product over the Sony 2.1 system that I originally purchased. The exchange at my local Best Buy store was seamless. They did it in one transaction and was a great experience. I also talked with a very knowledgeable Geek Squad tech and we discussed the possibilities of solutions to my sync issues. They recommended that I try another sound bar and that fixed my problem.

If you are going from regular television speakers to this you will likely be happy. Maybe not at $500 (I bought Good Friday price of $299). I was quite happy with my purchase. I was being a good husband and reducing the sound system footprint to a very neat, two-piece system with wireless sub. My wife was very happy. This all changed once we auditioned the soundbar. The bass was good. Sub immediately connected as did my iPhone. However, there was little depth to the sound. Actually sounding quite "tinny". The same experience in DVD Blue Ray playback (Eagles - Farewell Tour I) I have high expectations for JBL as I have used their speakers for decades. I didn't believe this soundbar would live up to my current system (5.1 JBL Northridge) that I've had for years. But I didn't think it would leave me so deflated. Even my wife (who would gladly sacrifice some sound for appearance) said "take it back" after only a couple minutes of listening. If you only watch TV or Movies for dialogue and effects, this may be fine for you. If you like to listen to music, and want to experience full and rich sound, you need go elsewhere. I gave three stars because I think it rates at least that for a soundbar system. Anything above (in my opinion) is incredibly generous.

    Great Soundbar sound but, Subwoofer?

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Received system and soundbar worked fine. The ordeal began with the subwoofer. The subwoofer was not paired. For hours I attempted to pair manually. After numerous attempts with different placements as close as about 3" apart, numerous factory resets, checking for any software updates, it paired. Finally I had a solid white light on the subwoofer. The subwoofer now had no sound. Tried pairing again as well factory resets. Now into day two of trying to get the subwoofer to work I contacted Harmon International Tech Support, which had me do the same things I had already done. After a day of working with Harmon International, with no success I'm returning system to Best Buy and getting a replacement since the soundbaritself sounded great Another small issue is when I page up or down to change channels on my Fios remote it changes the source on my soundbar. Even though the TV remote feature is set to off on my soundbar, this still happens. I Must change channels one by one. The soundbar itself sounds great, but with no sound on the subwoofer, I can't rate the subwoofer. I would recommend if I get a subwoofer that works as expected .

This bar is really great and easy to setup, but I have one little problem. "Sound mode" is not working. no matter what type do I choose Standard, Movie, Music, ... nothing happens, the sound is always the same. And this is happening in all input sources, Samsung TV is connected via HDMI Arc, and iPhone via bluetooth. Anyone has an idea, what is the problem? Tnx.

Hooked up system and was pleased with the sound especially the bass. I had returned s Sony soundbar for lack of bass.. I have to say though that the remote response sucks. at times there is no response and other times it tries to perform the previous function I had used.. But the sound and quality are very good. Also no optical cable included.

    Great Sound bar but...

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this sound bar not too long ago to replace my Vizio 2.1 sound bar. I have to say this was a huge upgrade in quality and bass. Crisp audio makes audiophiles like me very happy. However, one HUGE downside about this (at least for me) is that it does not support DTS Audio. I own a lot of movies on Blu-ray that use DTS HD audio and none of those play on my sound bar. I get an error displayed. I tried to remedy this by plugging in my Blu-ray player directly into my sound bar but any DTS audio from my Blu-ray plays as PCM which is a downgrade in quality. Sadly I might have to sell this one and get a sound bar that supports more audio including DTS or step up to their 5.1 channel sound bar which oddly enough supports DTS but is a bit pricier. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great sound bar with great quality but it just doesn’t cut it for me because of the lack of DTS support. Wish I had done my research but hey, trial and error.
