JBL rocks my house!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a big fan of JBL for almost 50 years now, dating back to when I owned JBL speakers for my stereo equipment which never disappointed. When I received the JBL Bar 1300X, I literally could'nt wait to unpack it. The sound bar came very well packaged with plenty of styrofoam protecting all of the components. Set up was super easy, and in a few short minutes, I was off an running, I my particular case, my sound bar was used with a Samsung 85 inch QLED TV and It was immediately recognized and responded to. HDMI cable hook up and power cord attahced and wham! What I experienced when playing some music videos, or movies was awesome! The 3D ATMOS surround expereince is compelling, as you are drawn into your movie expereince or videos like nothing before with six up-firing drivers which propels your music and sounds all over the listening area. Talk about stunning and house shaking bass, as this sound bar has a massive 12 inch subwoofer which rocks. All of this is made possible with two detachable speakers which after calibration can be separated from the soundbar and strategically placed anywhere in the listening room. One great feature is that the speakers are wireless and can provide around 4 hours of listening pleasure before a recharge. The manufacturer boasts 1170 watts of output power and if you max out the volume level (which I have done several times), you feel like you are at the movies. I personally find dialouge tough to pick up and don't usually catch all of the words, however with the Pure Voice technology built-in, more of the dialogue is understandable now. To me it still wasn't a hundred percent, but its much better with this tech. I downloaded the JBL One app which works well and it allowed me to calibrate the sound bar to my particular room for better sound capabilities. It also has a WI-FI connection allowing for automatic software updates. Overall, this is an amazing soundbar. It fills my living room with amazing sound, great bass, and crisp music. This is an awesome product, and it is high on my recommended list. AMAZING!!! Buy one and be happy!

Bad shipping/customer service. No problem with JBL
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have not received my surround sound system yet. The 3 star rating is for the terrible customer service. They shipped my item to the wrong address and now tell me it’s on back order. JBL makes quality products but Best Buy needs a refresher course on customer service.

An Ingenious Soundbar with Few Caveats
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The JBL Bar 1300X will melt your face in the best possible way, especially when it comes to the bass from the LARGE subwoofer. My new go to test for both visuals and audio is the Dune 4k blu-ray and boy oh boy did the 1300X not disappoint! The deep bass of the drums rattled the house. I could hear the sand passing all around me from the Dolby Atmos and the rear speakers. The only thing that was good but not mind blowing were the highs. They felt a bit muted. I wanted to make sure that wasn’t just Dune so I put in my Evil Dead Rise 4k blu-ray and skipped to the bombastic title reveal and felt it should have hit harder. It’s not bad or even mid by any means, it’s just unfortunately not on the same level as the rest of the sound stage. That has been my only real complaint, the rest are just small nitpicks. I’m not a fan of how most speakers look, but I still want surround sound. I’ve tried many soundbars without rear speakers because I don’t want to have big speakers always mounted on the wall. While Dolby Atmos does a great job of simulating surround, I still find it lacking. That’s where these magnetic, detachable rear speakers are life savers. Whenever we settle in for a movie, I pop off the rear speakers and place them behind us for the full experience. For day to day watching or when not watching at all we simply just pop the rear speakers onto the sides of the soundbar and voila! Also the battery life of those rear speakers are strong, I watched two movies back to back at full rear volume and they were still ready to keep going so battery life is not an issue. I even ended up over the 4th of July detaching the two speakers, putting one in the back yard with the BBQ and one in the kitchen so that everyone could enjoy my música norteña. It worked really well with the only issue being that the soundbar is much louder than the rear speakers so adjusting it to a comfortable volume for all was difficult as there is only basic volume control for the rear speakers (3 levels of volume). Overall I am so happy with the JBL Bar 1300X. It blows me and all my friends away on movie nights. It meets my specific needs of not wanting rear speakers mounted 24/7 but can also meet your needs by coming with wall brackets (and they can be constantly plugged in via USB-C). This is an excellent home theater in a box and one you should definitely consider if it is your budget. Pros: Detachable rear speakers can also be used for a pseudo whole home audio system Powerful sub and overall sound Excellent Dolby Atmos VERY easy setup Comes with mounting equipment in the box Cons: Highs are underwhelming, lack refinement Want detachable speakers to have more independent audio control HDMI ports are not the latest 2.1 (So you don’t want to plug in a Xbox Series X or PS5 into them) Subwoofer/Soundbar power cables are very short, luckily it’s just a standard non-polarized cable so I bought a longer one.

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from the Bar 700 & I'd rather the aesthetics in that than this. The Bar 700 has beauty caps for the detachable speakers which makes the overall presentation look so much cleaner whereas the 1300 does not which leaves the charging port exposed & unpleasing to the eye.

Great soundbar with easy setup A+ sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.JBL - BAR 1300X 11.1.4-channel soundbar with detachable surround speakers. Simple setup with an innovative design using rechargeable wireless surround speakers that dock to the end of the speaker bar to recharge or you can recharge (or powered) them with a USB-C device and they enhance the bars sound output while recharging. The speakers charge will last up to 10hrs. They can even be used as wireless Bluetooth speakers when you are not using this as part of your home theater system. This is a 16 channel system powered by 1,170total watts and comes with a 12inch wireless subwoofer that makes you go wow – heavy, solidly built with great output. The Dolby Atmos and DTS:X system delivers maximum immersion from music, games and movie soundtracks. Up-firing Atmos speakers on both the soundbar and surround speakers ensure full distribution of height effects in soundtracks throughout the room, and there’s also Wi-Fi, AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in, and Bluetooth wireless streaming support. I was impressed by the solid build quality of this system. With four HDMI inputs, including one with eARC for connecting to a TV, the Bar 1300X is well-suited to take on a full up stereo tv entertainment system with room for lots of different devices. The system was easy to setup and auto connects to the subwoofer and satellite speakers. You can use the JBL app to configure the system or set up the speakers and hit the calibration button. The JBL app has additional controls for adjusting EQ and lip-sync and you can store custom settings. The only downside is that the HDMI slots do not have 4K 120Hz pass-through to support that resolution and frame rate when playing games on PS5 or Xbox Series X. Dialog clarity, bass definition, continuity between the front and surround speakers and the overhead effects in Atmos sound tracks were impressive and close to equaling a full up home entertainment (AV receiver) systems. Music had a natural sound with acoustic instruments and voices and good dynamics in louder tracks. JBL’s long, slim remote control has large and well-labeled buttons that are easy to see in dim lighting. When switching inputs or making adjustments, an alphanumeric LED display on the sound bar provides feedback on the soundbar’s front. The display also alerts you when the battery power in the surround speakers is running down. I was impressed with this sound bar system and it is a less complicated setup than a full AV receiver based system with less components but still allows for a great entertainment experience.

You'll Love It, Your Neighbors Not So Much
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This JBL sound-bar is truly next level! That is a loaded statement but let me assure you, I've used several sound-bars and this one beats them all. Hands down. Let us start with sound quality. One word could best describe it. Outstanding! Bass is phenomenal but not overwhelming. Mids and highs come through clear and distinctive with none of the muddled sound that I've heard from other sound-bars. Voices while watching TV and movies is clear and understandable. From the sound of the woofer one would expect bass to be impressive but the bass from this one hard to describe in words but trust me, you'll be extremely happy with it. The two wireless rear speakers really add to the home theater experience. Being wireless I expected "lag" but none is present here. Using my Apple TV to watch some Dolby Atmos content was unexpectedly impressive. My friend kept getting freaked out with sound coming from everywhere. I even played some spacial audio and those two rear speakers really made a difference. One thing worth noting is that the woofer is huge. There is really no other word for it. I'd recommend putting behind a couch if you have the space. Another item of note is volume. This thing will get super loud. Like the neighbors across the street complaining loud. But here's the thing, no matter how high I set the volume there no distortion. At all. If your TV supports it I suggest connecting this via HDMI eARC for the best experience. Once it hooked up you're good to go. Highly recommended!

Not bad , but not in the same league as Sonos.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay it’s not a bad system by any means. The first thing though is there isn’t many ways to adjust the sound. The main thing is when you switch it to music you won’t believe that your listening to the same system at all. If your only using it for movies and gaming then you should be alright. Just don’t listen or ever hear a Sonos setup because you will be heartbroken and return this one in one second to grab the Sonos.

Innovative Soundbar With Exceptional Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned soundbars for my home theater setup for years. My latest one was very nice but I was looking forward to an upgrade with the JBL BAR 1300X 11.1.4 channel soundbar with detachable surround speakers. Witnessing the UPS driver struggling with the box was a good indicator of the hefty goodness inside. Unboxing you’ll find the soundbar, 12 inch wireless subwoofer, 2 battery powered wireless rear surround speakers, 2 power cables, an HDMI cable, remote control and batteries, speaker wall mounts and hardware, soundbar end caps, and a quick start guide. The majority of the weight in the box is the substantial nearly 19x15x15 inch subwoofer which alone weighs in at nearly 35 pounds. The soundbar itself weighs in at almost 10 pounds. Simply unboxing the BAR 1300X was my first indication that this soundbar is an incredibly ingenious design from JBL which beautifully solves the rear speaker issue with detachable and truly wireless satellites. They are even rated to last a remarkable 10 hours on a charge. My prior soundbar had rear speakers but they were wired to a powered rear transmitter box. A far less than elegant surround solution. The rear speakers can also be used detached as stereo bluetooth speakers. The overall look of the product is very nice and quality seems exceptional. I love this JBL design and couldn’t wait to try it. Proceeding to setup, I initially referenced and then quickly discarded the quick start guide when I found it to be fairly useless. I instead visited the JBL website to find a PDF of the owners manual. Here you’ll find great instructions for connecting the BAR 1300X to your tv and how to set it up. I wall mounted mine. It’s great that mounts are included but I opted for another mounting solution. Wiring in my case was simple. I only connected the HDMI cable from eARC HDMI port on the soundbar to eARC port on my tv. You will also find 3 additional HDMI ports on the rear which support 4K pass through at 60hz. There is also an ethernet port, and optical port, and 1 usb port. Next I attached the detachable rear speakers to the soundbar and placed the subwoofer in my room and plugged it in. The rear speaker snap on magnetically and the connection is strong. They are not going anywhere. When removed from the soundbar JBL includes grill caps for the ends of the soundbar. Great touch, but I wish they also included another set for the rear speakers so all elements look finished when in use. The hefty subwoofer could be imposing in smaller rooms. The sub and satellites connected automatically to the soundbar. In the manual you are directed to get the JBL One app which easily guides you through setup. You simply add the soundbar to your wifi network and it was promptly detected within the app. There was a prompt for a firmware update which took about 20 minutes to update. Next I proceeded to calibrating the BAR 1300X. Here you remove the rear speakers and place them to the left and right behind your tv viewing position. The soundbar and rear speakers then play a series of test tones to calibrate the Dolby Atmos sound field. That was pretty much it for setup. Specifications wise the JBL Bar 1300X is impressive with 1170W power output driving 5 tweeters, 6 midrange, and 4 woofers. Surround sound modes supported include True Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and MultiBeam surround sound. With the built in wifi you can utilize Apple AirPlay, Alexa Multi-Room Music and Chromecast and with a Google, Amazon, or Apple voice assistant you can easily stream music to the soundbar. The remote is fairly basic but includes source selection buttons for tv, bluetooth, and HDMI. There are sound effect buttons to adjust the Dolby Atmos or DTS:X effect level, the bass level, and the rear surround levels when the rear speakers are detached. A calibrate button is present along with a mute button. A play button controls the streaming music from the JBL app, Alexa, Chromecast, or AirPlay. And a “moment” button allows you to quickly play a playlist that you setup in the JBL One app with music service from Amazon Music, Calm Radio, iHeartRadio, Napster, Qobuz, Tidal, and TuneIn. Sadly missing are Apple Music and YouTube Music. I was so far thoroughly impressed with specs, appearance, and build quality so I moved on to seeing how the JBL BAR 1300X performed. I opted for a 4K bluray of John Wick 4 as my source. I removed the rear speakers from the soundbar and put them in position behind my viewing position. What an experience. I truly thought my old soundbar sounded good but there was simply no comparison with how fully immersed in the Dolby Atmos 3 dimensional sound field I was with the BAR 1300X. Amazing! The thundering bass from the sub was just right without sounding distracting or unnatural. The BAR 1300X truly elevated my home theater experience. It was so good that I literally had a grin on my face throughout the film. The JBL BAR 1300X 11.1.4-channel soundbar with detachable surround speakers is a remarkably innovative product and without a doubt it is the best sounding soundbar I’ve heard.

Nailed on both performance and function
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The top thing we should be looking for in a soundbar is its performance. However, the JBL 1300X adds another criterion that is equally exciting: the function. This is a soundbar that has essentially nailed on both performance and function. In summary, this is a high performing Dolby Atmos soundbar, which basically means that the soundbar’s ultimate aim is to recreate the sound experience we’re getting from watching a blockbuster action cinema at the theatre. I can’t say that the soundbar has successfully recreated such experience 100% because to be fair no soundbar can. It’s just impractical and too expensive to recreate the physical positioning of speakers in the theatre. A Dolby Atmos theatre would have so much speakers being physically positioned at different locations with tremendous power output. However, it is fair to say that the JBL 1300x is quite successful in bringing the large theatre sound experience closer to our home. The sound is big, the surround is convincing and the detail is there. From voice, explosions, movement of people and cars, they are there. If you have had a 5.1 or 7.1 audio setup at home, it’s quite exciting that these days the advancement of tech has made it possible for a 3.1 setup to render the performance of 11.1.4 audio setup. JBL soundbar consists of three parts. There’s the main unit with two detachable speakers; this main unit conceals smaller speakers. There’s also a 12-inch wireless subwoofer unit. Bottomline here, JBL’s multibeam technology, which is the technology to simulate multiple positioning of speakers and dispersing audio across the room, works. Not only Dolby Atmos, the soundbar also supports DTS X. One thing in particular that I really like is the useability and versatility of the detachable speakers. It can connect to any device through Bluetooth 5.2 protocol and battery lasts very long in a single session of music listening. The detachable speakers can also be charged separately through USB-C cable. You can use both speakers as a stereo setup or use them individually. Essentially, you’re getting two portable Bluetooth speakers. And this works with your laptop, phone, tablets, etc. Big win. The soundbar supports Chromecast, Airplay and Alexa cast. If you have Alexa speakers in the house, you can playback music across different rooms. Setting them up requires some hassles, though. In order to get the best sound experience, you need to perform calibration as per the manual. Speakers’ position is the key here. Once the calibration is performed satisfactorily, you’ll get the best performance of the soundbar. Overall, this is a solid product.

Fantastic soundbar
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The atmos/dtsx is pronounced on this system. I believe it’s because the extra two upward firing drivers in the main bar. My room is around 20x16 and this bar fills it with no issue. Watching 4k bku-rays is a dream come true on this sytem - terminator dark fate, live die repeat, A quiet place 1/2, and LOTR sound incredible. The subwoofer is next level for soundbars - it hits deep and the extra 2 inches in driver size really helps hit those lows. Setup was a breeze, and the app control for the EQ is a nice touch. The app itself has some nice features like virtual remote, calibration, EQ, and other miscellaneous things. It’s not the MOST advanced app, but it does provide great usability. Dialogue is no issue compared to the JBL 9.1, and dynamics are much better as well. The 990c from samsung has a lot to compete with here. Great purchase and I suggest you buy this if you can!

A soundbar that surprised me - in a good way!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All the major brands that make soundbars tend to have a top tier, "best" line. This is the top tier model that JBL has brought to market. A couple of years ago, when JBL introduced this concept of having rear channel speakers magnetically attached to the front soundbar, I was intrigued. It promised wireless surround, truly, no power cords or anything, and a respectable battery life for those satellites. Then when you weren't using them they would charge on the main bar. Really cool idea. Now this concept has carried into the ATMOS era with this soundbar. There are up firing channels on the soundbar, but also on the separates. It provides a calibration tuner that is effortless and does seem to work to my ears. Once I used this tool, the surround effects in both movie tracks, from both Blu-Rays and streaming, like an atmos title on Netflix for example, did have height as well as strong separation for surround. The unit has the ability for you to adjust both the strength of the surrounds and the surround effect, so if you have a small room you can make the surround less pronounced so that it doesn't overwhelm the front stage, but in a large room, this unit can pump out huge sound! Speaking of, the subwoofer provided with this unit is a beast. It's also configurable with intensity levels of 1 to 5, and truly I have to stay at 3 or below, depending on what I'm using, because 4 and 5 are bone shaking. It's a down firing sub, so it travels the floor well. I used a couple of movies with Dolby atmos as well as DTS Master Audio tracks to get a sense of the decoding this unit can do. It handled both really well, providing clear separation and as mentioned before, a real sense of height in a room with 15-foot ceilings. I also have run through it Apple Music spatial audio tracks that in my experience have done a great job of feeling spatial. Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, streamed to this unit by Airplay from my iPhone had Freddy Mercury traveling around my room. It has been a real middle of the action experience. The unit is easy to set up, has three HDMI inputs that offer HDR pass through so you can use it as a high def video hub to augment your TV, and app for this unit offers a rudimentary, but effective equalizer function for a little more tweaking. From a price standpoint, I realize this is a pricey prospect. But for a soundbar experience, and in a space that needs wireless to achieve a surround sound experience, this soundbar delivers a clear, hard-hitting, and immersive sound that for me was a surprise and a joy to experience. I highly recommend it if your budget allows.
