Our reason for getting this soundbar was for enhanced sound when we watch movies or certain TV programs and not for news programs. Even though it advertised pure voice technology, we were wary that watching news programs and sports would cause distortion in voices and found we still preferred the TV speakers for these types of content. I really thought i could just turn the soundbar on when i wanted to use it. This is not the case. We found out it is not possible to keep the soundbar from turning on when the TV turns on. Everyone will tell you can control it with TV settings like CEC-HDMI or tell you to use an Optical cable that will disregard CEC. The reality is, sound bar doesn't care about these settings. It sits in standby mode and when it sees a signal from any device it turns itself on. There is no way to disable this "Auto On" feature. Now we just turn the soundbar off when we turn the TV on. Not a huge deal, but wish there was an option to turn the Auto On feature off. Had we know this, we would have bought something else.

Not what I expected, very little bass does not project for the money.

I wanted to love this jbl 500 soundbar and subwoofer but every 2 days when you turn on the tv, there is no sound from the soundbar. The only way to get sound is to unplug and plug it back in. When it works, it sounds good. I called jbl and troubleshoot but day after same issue no sound from sound bar. No one seems to know why this is happening. Cables are in the right place but the intermittent turning off is annoying. I paid too much to have to be unplugged and plugging in every 2 days. I can’t really enjoy the theater experience. Sad but I have to return and get something else.

the best option for sound bars so I recommend it one hundred percent

Our soundbar had gone out on and we were hosting that afternoon. Was able to instal ans set up in under a hour.

Speaker sounds great but doesnt really matter when it consistently disconnects from hdmi to blue tooth or just turns off all of a sudden . Very dissatisfied

The audio Bluetooth part doesn’t work that great , but when we hooked it up straight in the tv it worked perfectly

not what I expected compared to my jbl 3.1 soundbar. I was looking to upgrade to my 6 year old jbl 3.1 sounder and let me tell you I was extremely disappointed. there's lack of feature on this new system like equalizer settings and lack of bass my old 3.1 can go up to 30 in bass settings and this system only 5 and also there's no equalizer options on this new system compared to my jbl 3.1 sounddbar. and for a system that states it has 500 watt rms its does not compete with the jbl 3.1. good thing I never got rid of my jbl 3.1 sounbar

Switched from full stereo surround sound and can hear movies and music with better clarity.

Sales talked me into upgrading to the JBL sound bar for better product and sound. After only 1 week constantly losing connection to the Arc port. Have to constantly power down TV and sound bar to get 50% chance of working a day than have to start over again, Called support they told me to bring in sound bar (45 miles) to have geek squad test. Arrived with sound bar and they said they needed all components to test. Wanting me the customer to be longer without product and more time and miles to try to get my products working.

Keeps disconnecting from the main bar and is difficult to connect

Went from using a receiver to the sound bar and I am happy I did.

Sounds great when working. However sub will not connect after 1 year and support does nothing except tell you to buy a new one

JBL was a always a leader in quality. Now they are a leader in sub standard manufacturing. Now the sound of the sound bar in my opinion is about par, it is no way above the standard of sound bars on the market. The lack of connectivity issues and the constant unplugging the system to do a hard start almost on a daily basis and sometimes two times a day leaves a bitter taste to be desired. Along with the not even 30 days Best Buy will allow you to return the device. I would definitely not even bother with this system unless you like to be frustrated.

The sound goes into standby while your watching tv . Geek squad has been out several times and I have received a replacement and the issue is still mot resolved. Not satisfied with this product

The sound is as expected, the instructions for connecting it could have been better.
