Took to the beach a couple times and ended up not using it too much due to how close you have to be. This is a great speaker for indoor activities in which a home speaker system is unavailabe. Its great and portable, quite expensive, wouldnt necessarily recommend.

Posted .Thank you for your feedback with our JBL Charge 5. You may use our JBL Portable App to adjust the EQ settings of the speaker to your preference. Volume can vary depending on surroundings and music content, speakers placed outdoors wouldn't have walls to bounce off the audio waves which can result in lower when it is being compared to a speaker placed in a close room. This is normal.

Chose this one because of it's size, waterproof, and the ability to charge other devices. I was impressed with the sound. Used it paired with a phone for music and a laptop to watch streaming while traveling. Both sound good.
