Great! Just don't drop it...

Owned for 7 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this speaker for about seven and a half months, great little speaker, great sound, been used on over 100 rounds of disc golf, seemed durable until it fell off the back of my disc golf bag because the carabiner part ripped off somehow. That's fine, I ducted taped it and carabined it to another carabiner, done, until the second time I dropped it the front part of the speaker broke off, super glued it back on, fine. But the charger port became looser and looser even though it hasn't been dropped since the second time, now its so loose it fell back deep into the speaker to where I can't even get the cable into it so obviously now it will not charge. The water tight cover for the charging port also wouldn't shut all the way for more than 2 months. I haven't contacted their one year warranty yet, since I super glued parts back on, we'll see if they honor it and I'll then perhaps update this review, until then, wait until a sale like I did because this is barely worth the $32 that I paid.

Disappointing sound and utility

First, it makes an annoying start-up and shut down sound. Second, music sounds tinny and hollow, like a bad clock radio. Third, podcasts sound tinny and hollow - it can get much louder than my phone's speaker, but it doesn't sound much better. And the carabiner clip, which seems like a good idea, doesn't open very wide and has a sharp point on it meaning you have to be very careful clipping it to anything that might scratch or tear. The sound was so bad, maybe I got a faulty unit, but the other design issues made me look for something else. I replaced it with the cheaper Insignia mini sonic, which isn't well suited for music, either, but sounds good for podcasts, which is what I wanted it for.

Won’t hold a charge, battery drains too quickly

Will last 20-30min until it needs to be recharged. Now I just connect it to the usb when it’s on. Otherwise it works great, great quality sound.

The clip portion already broke! The sound quality is amazing. I like the JBL line as a whole but this is disappointing. I will be attempting to return it to Best Buy.

Easy to handle

Don't purchase if relying on clip

The sound and quality was very good. However, the piece of the clip that secures the speaker (which I was told would hold onto anything) broke off within the first 2 months so I can use it as intended any longer. I want to return the item and give it another chance as hw was intending to hand it off my back pack and can't any longer due to the clip not securing the speaker. Will see how the replacement of this goes.

To increase the loudness of the volume on your JBL Clip 3 make sure that the volume level on your source device and the speaker is on the maximum level. You can also go to your devices' music player adjuts the Equalizer settings. If these steps do not work, you may try to connect your speaker to other devices to see if the issue lies in your speaker or initial device you paired them with. You can also do a reset with the speaker on, press and hold "Volume +" and "Play" for more than 3 seconds. If you have already tried this and remain unsatisfied with the loudness, rest assured that we're always looking for ways to improve, and your feedback will be forwarded to our development team for future improvement.

Bluetooth connectivity sometimes does not work

Great Sound - Poor Battery Life

Unfortunately, after just over 1 year it will only hold a charge for around 3 hours, which isn't really useful at all and it is just out of warranty.

I am a value-snob so I I saw JBL at a good price and grabbed it impulsively. Sadly, it sounds poorly. The bass lacks any punch and the treble makes any voice sound like Alvin. Disappointing.

Posted .Hi there, we’re here to help with your JBL Clip 3. Please try these troubleshooting steps for us to know what’s going on. First try to pair your speaker to a different device. Try using an aux cable to connect the speaker to your phone and check if audio quality improves. If so, reset your speaker to factory settings by pressing and holding Volume + and Play/Pause buttons for 3-5 seconds. The speaker will power off indicating that reset has been successful. Access Bluetooth settings on your phone/device and forget JBL Clip 3 on the list of paired devices before pairing it again with the speaker. If you’re still having issues with the sound quality of your speaker, please reach out to us using this link: https://support.jbl.com/us/en/

Not for the Outdoors
