Its plenty loud enough and when i swim laps i just sit it in the middle on the concrete. I dont swim under water so i can hear it the whole time. I also use on bike rides. Great for camping, yard work, you name it.

I don't believe it is waterproof but my boyfriend uses it at all his job sites. He even started buying more as gifts for his friends & family. Highly recommend purchasing a silicone case with "legs" to take with you everywhere you go.
