I'm a fan of JBL speakers. I bought a Sony SRS XG500 that I got for a killer deal, but returned it after 5 days because it didn't hit the bass and wasn't that loud out by the pool or the beach. My wife who saw me reviewing JBL speakers on YouTube asked why I just didn't bite the bullet and get the JBL even though it was more expensive. You know what, she was right. I got the Boombox 3 and both she and I are really happy with the sound, the punchiness of the bass and the volume at the beach, pool and around the house (she bumps it louder than me when she is on the treadmill!). So when it was time for me to get a portable speaker for me to use when I walked the dogs and didn't want to use ear buds (for obvious reasons since it blocks out too much of the ambient sound like cars and other animals), I naturally turned toward JBL. The sale price of almost 50% off made the decision a no brainer. Now, don't get me wrong. This does not hit anywhere close to the Boombox 3, but it has a fair amount of volume for its intended use. Battery life is fair but a charging time of 2 hours is a little long for a battery that only lasts 5 hours (for context, it takes the Boombox 3 6 hours to fully charge and it can last over 13 hours). There's no speakerphone functionality, which is a pity, because it would make sense if you used this out while backpacking or anywhere you couldn't hold your phone and you needed to send or receive a call. (I read that the Clip 3 had this feature). The sound is bright and somewhat tinny, especially at higher volumes. There is a marked lack of bass and low frequency response, but given the size of the driver, I wouldn't have expected much. I paired this with my Samsung Galaxy 6 Classic and stream iHeart radio, deezer and Spotify. I can walk about 8 feet away from the speaker before the signal starts cutting out, but that might be more a reflection of my watch than the speaker's range. So, for a sound companion that's in easy reach for the outdoorsy type, this is a good option. The sale price made it the best option...

I bought as an open box and as soon I turned it on it started to sound like a fryer. Awful! But may be that was the reason it was an open box. I decided not to take risks and I bought another brand after I returned it

Much better speakers for the price of this one. I purchased this speaker to use for work after doing some research on which speaker would last the longest. This speaker says up to 10 hours so thinking I'll only need at least 6 hours I got this. Wrong... this little speaker only lasted 3 1/2 hours and the sound quality is terrible. This was my first time buying a jbl and it'll be my last. Returning asap

I am so bummed. This jbl clip 4 does not allow calls, does not allow battery percentage displayed on your phones bluetooth menu, microwave interference big time. I miss my jbl clip 3.

I waited longer than the 14 days to return my non operable speaker. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to open it promptly as I’m in the middle of moving. It worked for 2 days and now and nothing.

When i got the package the item is broken. Is a wasting money. Bestbuy delivered broken

Currently listening to music on it right now. What surprises me the most of this device is how loud it actually is. It’s a perfect device for a small room, a small group; it is perfect for any small area. This JBL clip four is absolutely amazing and you can barely hear it in another room. I’m literally in love. One thing I noticed about this speaker is that it dies fairly quickly when you have it loud constantly. I have tested it countless of times. I’ve been with it about a month now and majority of the time. I have it full volume. It is about five hours to die, sometimes three however when you are using it at a lower volume it does last long hours of constantly playing. I’m not really big on technology, but I think this is supposed to be waterproof or some thing because I dropped it at the beach in cold water, the water temperature doesn’t really matter in this review, anyways it is still working 100% sand even got into the charging port and all I had to do was blow into it to remove the sand. I even used it by continuing to play music and it still works phenomenally. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

If it rubs against your clothing the rubber pieces peal right off. If you drop it once hard enough it vibrates rendering it ineffective and useless.

Very loud and clear. Base is bumping and thumping got the trap jumping! Can’t wait to take on my nature walks or picnics.

My wife got this for me for Father’s Day to replace my Clip 2, that only holds a 50% charge now. The Clip 4 is a definite improvement. Better sound & better range. 2 negative points: The power button is too sensitive. It will power on/off at the lightest touch. The second is that there still is no daisy chain feature to connect multiple Clip speakers together
