POOR noise canceling & NOT very comfortable

I have had big, bulky Bose noise cancelling headphones for some time now and really like them and found the noise cancelling to be amazing for travel or just for focusing when working on projects. When I found out that Bose had wireless noise canceling headphones, I had to try them - so I bought the Bose QuietControl 30s which are somewhat similar to these JBLs. The Bose wireless earphones were fantastic at noise canceling, had nice sound quality, and they fit very comfortably... but their Bluetooth wouldn't connect with one of my devices. That frustrated me, so I looked at other in-ear wireless noise cancelling headphones and found these JBL units. I figured it would just be a bonus if they happen to work as well as the Bose since they are 1/3 the cost. I still have both brands here and have compared them, and I have to say that the JBL is really disappointing when it comes to noise cancellation and the comfort of the fit. They do cancel some of the sound, but not nearly as much as the Bose QuietControl 30s and it doesn't give you that sense of being in a really quiet place when you put them on. Also disappointing was the fit of the JBL earbuds and included silicon pieces. First, the design is pretty confusing and it is frustrating to try and change the pieces in and out because it feels like you might rip them moving them around. Second, even though the JBLs include 2x as many size options as Bose does, none of them were comfortable in my ears. I actually ended up trying the Bose rubber ear pieces on the JBL and that was the most comfortable option! (If you keep the JBLs or get them as a gift, I highly recommend you get some Bose StayHear+ silicon ear pieces to have a more comfy fit. They aren't designed to work with these JBLs, but they worked really well in my short testing.) I even installed JBL's app and updated the firmware -- they simply don't noise cancel very well even with the newest update installed. The design of the neckband is another problem. JBL put all the weight on the back of the band, so if you lean back at all while wearing these - such as on a bike, in the car, or sitting at your desk - the JBL neckband falls off the back of your neck and begins to slide down your back. Clearly, JBL noticed this problem in testing, because they include a little "addendum" instruction sheet that tells you how to clip on some cheap looking plastic neck grips that do help it from sliding off. They aren't uncomfortable and they seem sturdy, but it seems to me the design flaw was even obvious to JBL but they decided to provide a slap-on fix rather than fixing the basic design. What do the JBL do well? The sound is very good - not too bright, not too bass-heavy. If these were less expensive and if I didn't care about noise canceling, I would have probably kept them. Unfortunately, I'm spoiled now to the comfort and serenity of the Bose QuietControl 30s and am keeping those. I recommend you skip these JBLs and consider other options.

These headphones have great sound and fit great into my ears. The reason that I gave them 3 stars is the battery life on them, sucks. I have to recharge them after about 2-21/2 hours, and they only connect to one thing at a time.

Great sound, but terribly flawed design.

Sound quality matches its price tag, but they are useless when they just will not stay on your neck. Driving in them is most frustrating when after 3-4 head turns, they'd end up behind my neck. Battery life is terrible.

Wow...these are simply awful. I've owned many brands of wireless headsets (Plantronics, JBL, LG, Beats) but these by far are the worst I've experienced yet. Forget the noise cancellation and active mic feature on these. People will tell you your muffled and the sound quality is severely lacking. Unfortunately for the buyer, the price point and quality levels do not align. You'll pay a premium and get subpar performance. Battery life is terrible (lost 10% in a short drive home) and recharging is dreadfully slow. The only thing these are good for is time travel...because you're about to go back years in headphone technology with these!

    Product Needs Redesign

I was hoping a high end in ear solution would be my answer to not only using on the phone, but my ipad as well when traveling. As a frequent business traveler I really did want an in ear design but this product albeit seemed to be just what I was looking for, fell well short of my expectations in terms of functionality. The in ear part was fine, but the collar design is woefully ineffective for staying in place. This might be fine if you are wearing Tshirts, but if you wear any type of collared shirt the interference between the collar of your shirt and the device causes it to constantly be coming off your neck. When I realized that the JBL device came with attachable collar extenders (creates a more secure fit around your neck) I thought this was the answer, but low and behold they are cheap and ineffective for achieving their intended goal. They are prone to popping off with even the slightest pressure. So for me this device just became frustrating. JBL needs to redesign and think about how they are utilized by different market segments.

I hate to say it but you guys dropped the ball on this. These elite 100 headphones are not worth $150 I paid. They are maybe worth $75. Knowing what I do now. I wouldn't even pay that. They are suppose to hold a charge for several hours. I am lucky to get 2 hours. On top of that. It won't let you use the call button unless the phone screen is unlocked. So what is the point. I should just call someone using my phone instead of the headset. The volume has a low listening limit unless you download the app. Last but not least. These headphones are suppose to have noise reduction. No. That is absolutely not true. I have tried every form or noise reduction. Not working at all. My end review. Waste of my money. Lost my business forever.

Get this... I don't even listen to music on these. I am the only network admin of 4 locations over 200 peeps. On my cell all day on and off for tech calls and I wanted something I could put in one ear and then leave the other one free and my hands free to type. Move from the different repair stations in my office and just WORK. Anyway, these darn things have THE crapiest battery life... ever. Seriously. It's that bad. I bought them without a warranty like an idiot, thinking the brand name would carry them. NOT. Past return time. Out the moola. Darn you, JBL.

I really wanted to like these - they are fine except for no discernible noise cancellation...commuter bus engine swamped my music this morning. I guess it's hard to make active noise cancellation work with ear buds. Also, I had my phone in my roller bag less than 6 feet from the earphones and the signal was breaking up. For $200 they need to work better than this. I'm taking these back and going with on/over ear product.

I've tried several other wireless headphones in this price range and expected a lot more than what I got with these. Being a recording arts engineer the most important thing to me is the sound quality and out of all the others I tried in this price range these were the worst sounding. Build quality is decent. Very disappointed!
